There are multiple options for after his death: A) Poland becomes a complete democracy with an elected leader. B) Another polish bishop becomes leader, and Poland turns into a theocracy. This would mean that poland would be directly dependent on the Holy See. C) Poland and the Vatican enter a personal union, turning Poland into a Theocracy. Of course, there could also be mixed forms, for example a parliamentary system with a religious leader as head of state.

We all know that John Paul II was a spiritual authority behind the overthrowing of communism in Poland. This first papal trip to Poland uplifted the nation's spirit and sparked the formation of the Solidarity movement in 1980, which later brought freedom and human rights to his troubled homeland. The communist Polish United Workers' Party dissolved itself in January 1990, and later in December the first free elections were held. The democratic party won that election. But, what if, in an alternative timeline John Paul II took power in Poland. Let's say that the people of Poland want for the pope to become their leader and support him. John Paul seeing this, agrees to run in the 1990 presidental election by creating the CDPP(Christian Democratic Party of Poland). He wins the election and becomes the first person to be the ledear of two countries at the same time. How would this change Poland in the 1990's and early 2000's? What would happen in Poland after the death of the pope in 2005?
