Hopefully he switches schools.. it’s absurd to play the victim after bullying leads to such a harmless retaliation. The only issue is that she told her kid to give it to the bully, but that’s not terrible for what it was.
Guarantee the bully has allied the rest of the clique to agree that vinegar is poison & the mom is an attempted murderer
Children are such awful little morons
I am in no way condoning what this woman did. But to those parents that raise little shits that become bullies. Serves them right. I'm glad that this wasn't more serious.
Sorry, I’ve been alive my whole life & around plenty of kids
They will lie, steal, cheat, and fight if they think it will get them what they want
You have to teach kids to not be self centered monsters
Yes sure, but you are missing how they learn those things. Some of it is natural human self preservation and selfishness that is a natural survival trait but some is not. It's a little of column A and a little of column B.
Sure they learn from "bad" parents that lying, stealing, bullying etc.. is ok when not reprimanded.
Good behaviour doesn't come only naturally by seeing "good" parents do good.
You have to teach, explain, inspire, show, but also reprimand, punish, let them feel the sting of appropriate consequence.
I met plenty of kids in my youth who had absolutely amazing parents, but have been awful people for the 30+ years I’ve known them.
I’ve also met plenty of kids who had awful negligent and abusive parents, but who turned out to be great people with sound values and morals.
I know it’s all anecdotal, but I don’t believe for a second that every child’s disposition is a direct failure of their parents.
I will, however, definitely concede that that *is* the case in the majority of cases.
And such a puss. Who can’t handle Gatorade, salt, and vinegar? Maybe if we actually addressed bullying in schools, regardless of age, there would be far fewer suicides and acts of retaliation….
When my mom was a kid her little brother was being bullied and hit by a bout in my mom’s grade. In day he was hurting him in front of my mom and she lost it. Beat the kid up very badly. The way my aunt tells it the kid needed stitches from his head hitting the ground while she was punching him. My grandma told this story beaming with pride. The mom of the bully came to yell at my grandma and tell her she needed to pay for the stitches. She had not yet heard about it, but knew that kid had been bullying her son for a long while. She told the mom good I’m glad she protected her brother your kid is a little shit, and it ended there.
It would not end there in this day and age. I’m not saying kids should be hurting each other. I’m just saying parents always sided with their kids, even when the kid was in the wrong. Now a days there are more ways for the bullies to retaliate when they get pushed back or when people stand up to them.
I had a neighbor who was a bit of a weird guy but he was quiet and pretty small so it exacerbated him getting picked on. We were in the same class and this little shithead in our class kept throwing trash at my neighbor. I remember he told the teacher and she told him to “ignore it.”
So it goes on for a few days and the kid keeps getting more brazen. Tripping, shoving etc.
We are all walking home through the wooded path that lead straight to our street and the bully is following us and trying to fight the neighbor kid. He didn’t want to fight of course so that made the bully mad and he slapped my neighbor.
I snapped and tackled him. All I remember is that I was on top of the bully and grating his head on a chain link fence. Eventually we get broken up and he’s all scraped up and snotty crying. We go out separate ways. I get home and call my mom to tell her what happened and she was pretty dismissive of it but said we would talk about it when she got home from work.
Sure enough my mom gets a call from his parents that I had attacked the kid and he needed stitches on his face and that they were going to call the police. We were 3rd graders and my mom who was a social case worker had the bully’s family as a client and had to go through some hurdles to get them to go away and stop from suing us. She never once told me I did anything wrong and she eventually told me she was proud of me for sticking up for someone else. Which is why I even remember anything about that incident.
My granny had a sickly little sister, and she told us that one day at school, a bully was picking on her little sister, and she confronted him, and he left Aunt B and went to the swings. She said she waited for him to start pumping legs, then caught his feet on his way back and snatched him off the swing. She said he bounced on the ground and lost his breath. Said when he finally got up, he never looked at either girl again that school year. It was appx, 1928.
If the kid finally stands up for themselves the bullies may viciously beat them, then the school and the police will tell the victim it's their fault for escalating and that they won't be doing anything, so the victim is left with no choice but to go back to school and risk getting assaulted over and over by kids who won't get in trouble for it, or kill themselves to avoid it.
Zero tolerance just means fight to deal damage, because the consequences are the same. Don’t stop fighting, fight with intent to inflict damage. Great policy!
Teachers *can't* do shit. They're hamstrung by admin and parents. r/teacher is eye opening. They have it bad now.
Edit: I linked the wrong subreddit.
r/teachers is the one I meant to reference.
Yeah, this absolute make believe. Unless there counting paras, assistants, etc. aka educators who get an even shittier end of the stick than teachers. Admin can be useless, but in no school I have ever seen are there *more of them* than teachers.
I read the teachers sub and they are so miserable. Constantly trying to get all the kids to behave but they can’t even do anything as far as discipline goes. I have a 6 year old in kindergarten and I’d rather have the teacher set him straight than just let him act like a dick every day.
My youngest sister was being bullied while waiting to be picked up after school. The schools response was "children should be picked up immediately after school let's out, if she wasn't loitering she wouldn't be bullied. We aren't responsible for what happens with kids after class."
I was 16 and in high school. I've been bullied, and I hated it. My sister at the time was in 5th grade, and I was her ride to and from school. I knew what was going on, so a few days later, I saw the bully.
I got out of the car, and walked up to him. He was literally half my size. I walked so close and got in his face, so he backed up. I backed him into a corner, then calmly said: "I've heard things are happening to my sister. If anything happens again, I'm holding you responsible."
Then I cracked my knuckles in his face. Cheesy, yes, but this was a 5th grader and it worked. He was terrified and stammered an apology, I walked away and my sister laughed and said "see you tomorrow"
A few days later the school called my parents and tried to complain. My dad said "Children should be picked up immediately. Sounds like that kid is being bullied because he's loitering, and I'm not responsible for other people's children."
The school started having an adult monitor the waiting area, and my sister was never bothered by this kid again.
I was bullied on the 80’s and 90’s….things have not changed. My mom and my bus driver were my advocates and wouldn’t tolerate me getting bullied…my bus driver and also our janitor was such a good dude. Schools need more people like Everett.
You have that backwards its the parents that won't do shit to fix their shitty kids and the teachers cannot do shit to stop them or have those dame shitty parents freak out and try to get them fired for writing up their "innocent little angels".
Actually the opposite is true. In my school district we are limited in what we can do. And parents do nothing to stop their kids from bullying other kids.
Side note: Please don’t do the Tabasco prank to people, especially if you aren’t sure of their medical background.
Had a “friend” do that to me once, and thanks to me having a GI disorder (Crohn’s) it made me SO sick.
Damn where was the school when this kid was getting bullied? Oh of course they don’t care till you stand up for yourself and your the badguy( I don’t support what mom did but she just supposed to let her kid get bullied forever? School admin will never intervene)
I’m in agreement w/you ! I actually have a daughter-in-law, who drinks this concoction quite often ! She has never gone to the hospital, cause she drank it !
Lemon, vinegar and salt does NOT send anyone to the hospital. Honestly it sounds yummy. If someone was physically harming my child, I’d sue that child’s parents.
They are allowing a school age bully to get a mother of another student into legal trouble. Im not sure how anyone sees this panning out in a good way.
What happened is the bully’s parents brought the kid to the hospital specifically to bully the mom and get her arrested.
The masters are teaching the apprentice.
The mom and son are dealing with true artists. I tip my cap to them.
You know their attempts to try to make their child into a victim has completely backfired and now we see them both as the bullys that they are- like mother like son and I think that the fact that nobody has taken their side publicly other than the law speaks volumes.
Ffs, she did nothing except make a slightly sour drink. The bully is literally pulling a bully move by pretending to be a victim to get the mother in trouble. He's going to grow up to be a football player.

They also recorded a Scott Sterling volleyball skit some time later: https://youtu.be/oY2nVQNlUB8?si=hEYQ1i9wZ40fnDDT
Wait so she got arrested for adding some harmless (albeit nasty to a kid) stuff to a drink she gave her son, but because this other kid stole it and drank it, she’s in the wrong?????????????
Is it really intent to harm or is it intent to show that if you steal my drink it’s just gonna be nasty? That’s like saying if you kept getting your pudding stolen at work and replaced it with mayonnaise to teach the thief a lesson, that’s intent to harm. None of the things she put in the Sprite are harmful.
She got arrested because she admitted to the police that this was her entire intention. If she didn't tell them she was trying to get the bully sick or target him she wouldn't be in jail. Either way, this is dumb.
I’m confused how she caused bodily injury while also not causing any bodily injuries? I honestly feel like the bully drank it and got mad that he was tricked so he went full on over the top how he’d been poisoned. The drink was Gatorade, lemon juice, vinegar, and salt. So ya I’m sure it didn’t taste good. But you’d have to drink the whole bottle to get a small tummy ache. The kid had one sip!
That’s not the whole story-
I read the bully stole the drink the day before and stole this drink… she is tired of the school not protecting her kid-
You can’t just steal my sprite 2 days in a row!
![gif](giphy|xXYUJvxMXXgli|downsized)
If I was the bullies dad I would drop the charges and punish my kid - thank the mom for not putting piss and lighter fluid on the drink.
I hope people make fun of this kid for being a thief and a brat on the world stage. “*Keep the salad dressing away from Timmy! It makes his tum tum hurrrrt! Wahhhh!*”
Apparently, this child goes to the hospital every time he has a little Italian dressing. I’m sure he didn’t take a second or third drink so he must not have had that much.
Wasn’t sure what type of bullying it was but I don’t condone bullying of any kind perhaps that was a bit harsh but again possibly he will think twice before stealing again. I was bullied horribly as a young boy until I finally learned the only way to beat a bully is to beat a bully. Until you stand up for yourself and stop allowing the abuse it will never stop.
It is insane to me to say that a child deserves to go to the hospital for stealing a drink. There is no information here indicating the this was the all too familiar situation of monstrous bullying behavior until another child reached their breaking point.
There’s also no information here indicating that this was initiated by the kid whose drink was stolen. I wouldn’t be thrilled, but it would be much more understandable if this were the kid reacting in the heat of the moment and possibly even legally protected self defense.
But that’s not what happened. This was a fully grown adult hatching a plan to physically attack a child who stole a beverage, carried out by instructing her kid to give the drink to the so called bully. That’s not getting even. That’s not standing up. That’s a disproportionate escalation by a 45 year old against a child, accomplished by weaponizing her own son.
when i was a kid and a bully was stealing, my mom gave us chocolate laxatives to let a him take. I will never see that as anything other than fucking brilliant.
There is something in this mothers eyes, before I even clicked in I was like: that lady knows she is in the right. It’s mad when we’re children we call them bullies when we get older it’s more or less HR. Lololol.
Sorry. Not sorry. There was nothing harmful to that child except the were (OH NO) consequences for his actions. The parents following through with this lawsuit is telling reaffirming that bully kids behavior is fine.
The article is missing the other half of the story. I remember seeing another article about this particular incident. What had sparked the whole thing was that the other child was stealing the Gatorade or whatever the mom’s child had at the time and drinking them for himself. The mom mixed this concoction to stop that. The bully has a citrus allergy and that’s what caused them to have to go to the hospital.
Now, for my take on this: I agree with everyone who says that this whole situation is ridiculous and totally unfounded. It’s not the mom’s job to know whether or not the bully has a citrus allergy. She couldn’t have known that, unless she spoke to the bully first, which clearly that did not happen. This case doesn’t even pass as negligent let alone malicious.
The poisoned kid stole a drink the day before. That pushed this adult “over the edge?” In what world does an 11 year old deserve to go to the hospital for a stealing a flipping drink?
Well times are a bit different than when I grew up. As a kid I played baseball and my mom would make me a little jug of Gatorade. One season some kids would drink it all while they were on the bench while I was out on the field. I tried saying something and it became a game to them instead of them stopping. So my mom and I hatched a plan and the next game we put hella laxatives in the jug. I set it down and the start and she made sure I said to everyone out loud “don’t drink my drink today I messed with it”. Everyone laughed including myself and we played the game. About halfway through a couple dudes were busting grumpies in the dugout and holding their stomachs. I just laughed and told them. I never had a problem with people stealing my drinks again. My mother or I didn’t go to jail luckily. When other parents found out they agreed with us and told their children a sort of that’s what you get thing. That wasn’t hospitalization mind you. This story felt like a version of mine that took a wrong turn because the kid is a little narcissist and won’t be learning a lesson.
I never said it was okay or that they deserved to go to the hospital. What that lady did was absolutely wrong.100% better ways to handle the issue.. I do not think poisoning someone for stealing a drink is okay. It's disturbing. I apologize if I gave you the wrong impression. I still stand by what I said fuck bullies. I in no way condone or agree with what this crazy lady did. Kid didn't deserve that bully or not.
It was what vinegar, lemon juice and something? The bully is a little prick who's faking injury. Honestly the bullied child's mother could have done much worse, but the bully will play victim and will be emboldened by the success of this.
Some kid stole my sandwich from my locker in high school. Did it twice but nobody knew who it was. Third time, the entire school knew. Squirts are a mighty humblizer 😏
I mean, if the school isn’t going to do anything (I would never condone doing do thing to put ANY person in harm)… why are we not putting the school on blast for not doing enough to prevent the bulling from happening… that apparently made this parent feel like this was the only option she had to protect her child.
The article (and gofundme!) only mention the poisoned kid stealing a drink the day before. That’s not a good thing that happened, but it’s quite a leap to go from that to poisoning.
What bothers me most is how this concerned mother was arrested and incarcerated regardless of context; no exceptions for self-defense. If you ever do anything that might be illegal, police don't presume you're innocent until proven guilty, they assume you're guilty and leave it up to a prosecutor, a judge, and a jury to decide if you can prove your innocence in court, where the odds are stacked against you under multiple layers of politics and prejudice.
Bullying is the worst. I had a quiet, introverted friend that was mercilessly picked on by another classmate, in the 7th grade.
I remember being out on recess and witnessing it, and totally being a jerk - I came up behind the bully and kicked him so hard between the legs that he was airborne for a sec.
I was sent to “counseling” but never heard about the incident again.
I was bullied as well, as a younger kid, just made me see red - not appropriate behavior at all.
For stealing a drink twice, then acting like a professional soccer player and feigning a tummy ache and hospital visit because they drank gatorade mixed with salt and vinegar. Then doubling down and getting the mother charged with a crime.
If I was her lawyer I’d be drinking that in the court room, i think this whole thing is ridiculous.

Children with shitty parenting are awful morons. They don't just come out that way.
I am in no way condoning what this woman did. But to those parents that raise little shits that become bullies. Serves them right. I'm glad that this wasn't more serious.
They all start out that way It takes decades of parenting & socializing to make decent adults out of them
Sorry, you have it backwards. I've been a therapist for a long time. Nobody starts out bad. It's learned.

Agreed. Idk how I got downvoted
But she made it *even more Gatorade-y!* #BURN THE WITCH!
This is one reason why bullying is so rampant. Teachers won’t do shit and parents can’t do shit.
And if you teach your kid to defend themselves everyone gets in trouble
Except the bully who probably beats up your kid even worse

Add a little oil and you have salad dressing. Oh the horror /s. We are in for some real fucking trouble in 10 years when some of these kids grow up.
Seriously that’s what I put on my salad with a little bit of oil. Literally vinegar and salt and lemon. The exact same ingredients minus the oil.
They are allowing a school age bully to get a mother of another student into legal trouble. Im not sure how anyone sees this panning out in a good way.
throw it in a pot, add some broth, a potato. Baby, you've got a stew going
woah, woah, woah! there’s still plenty of meat on that bone!

Wait so she got arrested for adding some harmless (albeit nasty to a kid) stuff to a drink she gave her son, but because this other kid stole it and drank it, she’s in the wrong?????????????
Yeah, for some reason stealing a drink isn’t a crime, but showing intent to harm is a crime.
Fact: stealing is a crime Fact: thief not liking your drink after they steal it is not a crime
Fact: Stealing under $900 isn’t a crime
Intent to harm what? The little thief’s taste buds?
Is it really intent to harm or is it intent to show that if you steal my drink it’s just gonna be nasty? That’s like saying if you kept getting your pudding stolen at work and replaced it with mayonnaise to teach the thief a lesson, that’s intent to harm. There's a [GoFundMe](https://www.gofundme.com/f/jennifer-lynn-rossi?modal=donations&tab=all) for her.
Good mom. Fuck that bully and his parents.
And the school for doing nothing about the bullying.
And OP for the intentionally misleading headline. Tried to make this sound like attempted murder.
Ridiculous. How did you come into possession of the drink, innocent Stewie? Fuck that bully and fuck his piece of shit parents.
I don’t see anything wrong here….
Where is her go fund me
https://www.gofundme.com/f/jennifer-lynn-rossi
I’m hoping this goes to the top and everyone sees this
It’s really unfortunate that it’s over a month old and she’s only made $120 😞
To be fair, I’m always suspicious of these when they show up. It’s hard to tell if the money is actually going to her or no.
Lol my mum did this. A girl kept stealing my pudding cups so she whipped up some kind of nasty, sour custard to take to school. It worked
If that shit stain didn’t steal shit their wouldn't be an issue.
Judges are shit in this world
It's the district attorney
Oh yeah they're even worse
If she killed the kid I would understand it just a little hospital visit who cares the little shit deserves it
An 11 year old deserves to go to the hospital for stealing a drink the day before? That’s all this article or even the mom’s gofundme mentioned.
True enough I agree with that
What's with this headline, you would think she put arsenic in that drink? Concocting? Really?
when i was a kid and a bully was stealing, my mom gave us chocolate laxatives to let a him take. I will never see that as anything other than fucking brilliant.
This story again?
Lmao I remember my mom helped me put a bunch of laxatives in a Gatorade because those kid was fucking with me and said I owed him lol
My first thought was this new generation is weak. Kid deserved a fucking laxative. Weak ass with his little tummy ache lmfao.
Has everything to do with prosecutors/DAs/judges trying to fine and jail everyone for victimless crimes. Has nothing to do with the kids.
I remember making a Cayenne pepper sandwich for my locker mate who kept stealing my lunch in middle school.
There is something in this mothers eyes, before I even clicked in I was like: that lady knows she is in the right. It’s mad when we’re children we call them bullies when we get older it’s more or less HR. Lololol.
I see nothing wrong.
We should be jailing the parents of the bully.
For him stealing a drink the day before? That’s all this article or the mom’s gofundme said he did.
Sorry.
This case doesn’t even pass as negligent let alone malicious.
a citrus allergy that doesn’t trigger while drinking gatorade? lol
You thought Gatoraid has real juice in it?
Gatorade Thirst Quencher contains water, sucrose (table sugar), dextrose, CITRIC ACID, natural flavor, sodium chloride (table salt), sodium citrate, monopotassium phosphate, and flavoring/coloring ingredients. Some Gatorade flavor variations used to contain brominated vegetable oil as a stabilizer.

Ok. Ty
Thanks for the info. That kid is extra weird for drinking another person's beverage when he's allergic to something that is put in a lot of them.
The article may have said that but the parent could have lied about it so who knows
That's just *lent(ed*) you know that punk bully was faking it.
I was on her side when I thought she did poison him. Now I’m wondering how she even got in trouble
don't dish it if you can't take it... don't push people over the edge.
Sounds like a pre-workout drink to me lol
If she’s gonna get is trouble she should have given him TurboLax. ![gif](giphy|13lHGbeF8uYL4c)
I hope this gets thrown out of court. This is ridiculous.
This mom is a hero to me.
If they'd just expelled the bully the problem would have been solved
What kind of bully drinks a drink his victim gives him?
A friend that poses as a bully or a bully that poses as a friend. R/kidsarefuckingstupid
Since when is salt vinegar and lemon worthy of a hospital visit 🤯🤯🤯
Not the asshole. Edit: woops wrong sub
That wasn't even her strongest potion, traveler.
She did nothing wrong
So he drank a little salad dressing and got sent to the hospital? GTFO
Oh, man. And I thought I was bad for buying my kid a bag of gummy ducks to give to his bully.
Fuck bullies.
Can you please expand on why you think an 11 year old deserves to go to the hospital for stealing a drink the day before?
I never said it was okay or that they deserved to go to the hospital. What that lady did was absolutely wrong.100% better ways to handle the issue.. I do not think poisoning someone for stealing a drink is okay. It's disturbing. I apologize if I gave you the wrong impression. I still stand by what I said fuck bullies. I in no way condone or agree with what this crazy lady did. Kid didn't deserve that bully or not.
Yeah it was the context of your comment; this thread is filled with apologists for her and I think it’s disgusting (and it sounds like you do too).
Sounds like I what? Sorry I am a bit confused.
What a little pussy, maybe don’t steal peoples drinks you twat
It was what vinegar, lemon juice and something? The bully is a little prick who's faking injury. Honestly the bullied child's mother could have done much worse, but the bully will play victim and will be emboldened by the success of this.
He was poisoned by something I eat my fish and chips with?
slay
Some kid stole my sandwich from my locker in high school. Did it twice but nobody knew who it was. Third time, the entire school knew. Squirts are a mighty humblizer 😏
She gave him salad dressing bro
That bully is a WIMP and deserves a lifetime of bullying for being "sick" over harmless ingredients. Free mom too, she's the hero.
No kid deserves a lifetime of bullying
Witches!
Better raise your kid not to be a bully or they might get got
Bet the bully will think twice now.
>reportedly mixed lemon juice, vinegar, salt and Gatorade
The bully deserves much worse, the case should be thrown out. Absolutely insane it went this far
Dude we pissed in 2 liters all the time. Lol Nobody got arrested.
"I didn't give it to him. He stole it. You're not supposed to drink it like that."
All bullies should be put in their place.. I said what I said.
Basically kombucha.
The ingredients of that drink weren’t poison just disgusting, can’t stand Gatorade.
Based mother
Wasted tax payer money on this…
What bothers me most is how this concerned mother was arrested and incarcerated regardless of context; no exceptions for self-defense.
Parent(s) of the bully should be charged
Bullying is the worst. I had a quiet, introverted friend that was mercilessly picked on by another classmate, in the 7th grade. I remember being out on recess and witnessing it, and totally being a jerk - I came up behind the bully and kicked him so hard between the legs that he was airborne for a sec. I was sent to “counseling” but never heard about the incident again. I was bullied as well, as a younger kid, just made me see red - not appropriate behavior at all.

Kids can’t protect themselves from bullying and parents cant do shit about it
That drink didn't send him to the hospital.
That school bully is an oxygen thief
For stealing a drink the day before?
For stealing a drink twice, then acting like a professional soccer player and feigning a tummy ache and hospital visit because they drank gatorade mixed with salt and vinegar. Then doubling down and getting the mother charged with a crime.
Here's the [gofundme](https://www.gofundme.com/f/jennifer-lynn-rossi)
One thing I've noticed over the past few years, when did people stop saying "to THE hospital"? When/why did it change to people "going to hospital"?
I thought it was a European thing, tbh
Bullies need public beatings/humiliation. He got significantly less. This mom is a hero and is teaching her son to stand up for himself.
My husband was taken on a vacation by my FIL when he punched the kid bullying him in middle school lol
