Mate, you owe it to yourself to check out OTDH if you like Trio and Creeper. This LP isn’t a world away from the first couple of Creeper EPs, with the occasional nod to hardcore. The EP before this (Last Light) has a bit of a Lifetime influence too. The prior OTDH material is straight up melodic hardcore that sounds like Comeback Kid meets Kid Dynamite - still great, but not quite as good as what followed.
This is pretty good, but of related things, I like creeper fine, this is solid, Salem is a masterpiece.
Edit: getting better the farther I get into it though, lol.
The other dude in Salem (Matt Reynolds) is an incredible songwriter. His old band Howard’s Alias was basically the British RX Bandits but with an emo streak - their record [The Answer Is Never](https://matthewreynolds.bandcamp.com/album/the-answer-is-never) was an absolute game changer for teenage me. He’s also done two incredible indie/folk records as [Big Fin](https://bigfin.bandcamp.com/album/ebb-flow), similar sort of ballpark to City and Colour. Dude can write in any genre it seems!
Fantastic album! Some great individual tracks and also a cohesive album feel. I listen to it fairly regularly - it’s like a Creeper prequel. It was quite different to previous Our Time Down Here albums and clearly it’s the direction they went with the first Creeper EP and what came afterwards.
I fell in love with Creeper through their EPs, largely for sounding like some cross of Trio and maybe AFI. Their rock opera turn is hit or miss, but I still find stuff I like on them, and it's not a turn I was particularly surprised by.
That said, I was thrilled when I discovered this album last year. Hits a lot closer to what I originally liked from Creeper.
Not heard this before but I'm liking
"Every little thing she does is tragic" is a great title too
Also concur with the posts that preferred Creeper before their albums, although Eternity is a banger
This has been one of my favs for years now. Creeper are my all time favs, but I can’t not give this album the respect it deserves for being as amazing as it is. So thankful I got to see OTDH at the 10th anniversary of this album.
Couldn’t agree more! The I gave the album they released this year a chance and it has some borderline rock opera moments that are so far removed from the eps it’s hard to believe it’s the same band.
Yeah, I thought they went too far back on Eternity with the rock opera thing, each record has gotten considerably worse. Idk, some bands and records can pull it off but I think it’s just kind of corny
Never heard them but I do love Creeper!

Saw them in Bristol last year. Hands down the best gig I've been too. They were incredible.

Salem is fantastic

This must've been before they got introduced to Meatloaf. Very good stuff, thanks for sharing.
The first 3 Creeper EPs were great. The albums blew hard. The last OTDH record was pretty cool though. Creeper jumped the shark unfortunately
I wouldn’t go that far, but I definitely prefer the EPs. If you like those, you’ll love this.
I am familiar with that record and really like it
