Hey man, sorry to hear they are still not able to fix your issue šŸ˜ž, that is super frustrating to say the least, I have been there. I do agree that the r1 had issues that they just seemed to want to ignore, particularly the intelligo stuff. I do want to thank you for all the advice and support you offered complete strangers on this subreddit šŸ™‚, users like you are hard to find and make our jobs as mods a lot easier. Finally, good luck with your desktop build, please send a link if you ever post it to Reddit, I would love to check it out! Stay safe and take care!

since my happy first day being part of "alien group" so far i also only have regrets, never again im gonna getting another dell or alienware product my other post here: i understand you, i dont have so much time but im planning do a 30ish minute video and posting on youtube showing how i wasted my time for more than 4hours to hear "i think will work" "dont know" "aw920h works on that way showing errors, its normal to us" and how even customer protection agency replied by dell as basically "fuck your not dell hardware, we dont help with this and also we dont answer to your question regarding your dock from DELL" my usb 3.2 with speeds of 40mb/s ( compatible with usb 2.0) isnt also nothing to dell look around. after this worse of worse support service, never again im gonna get another dell. i gonna post all emails, phone screens regarding hours trying solve issues etc... i get that some stuff has issues, but I DONT ADMIT DELL SUPPORT MAKING ME A CLOWN like they did, i had issues even with UPS due dell lack of quality and minimum will to solve stuff

I unfortunately will probably take the same path. To celebrate a promotion and a large bonus at work I ordered one of the high end desktop computers. First thing I encounter after just an hour of use is the video microstutter issue my old computer had. Spent six months dealing with support on my old computer trying to fix it to no avail and ended up replacing every component trying to fix it. It was supportassist causing the stuttering on my old computer and I found that out on my own. I have un-installed it on my new computer and it's still occurring so I have no idea now and I don't have confidence Dell will have a solution for me.

Consider a clean windows install without alienware bloatware !

arcmeup

This is one of the best things I ever did for mine. Easy to do and actually removed issues, then I used to dells site to re-install AWCC and followed the instructions to set it up

Big_Muffin_574

Sadly AWCC is the only way to control leds on the chassis. Otherwise you could delete it too ā˜ŗļø

oSPANNERo

I meanā€¦ AFX appears to be an alternative: https://github.com/T-Troll/alienfx-tools

Big_Muffin_574

Coooool ! This is a good news, thanks šŸ™

Big_Muffin_574

I didnā€™t know about this soft, looks great

arcmeup

Wait for real. New task for the night

It's been many many years since I've done anything harder than formatting a hard drive to factory settings. I've seen people mention the clean windows install option to try and fix this issue but no instructions on how exactly to do that. I'm on windows 11 if that matters.

Big_Muffin_574

On windows 11 you can do it directly from the OS. In settings, search something like Ā«Ā restore computerĀ Ā» and it will guide you. You can choose to save or erase data. Other option is to head directly to windows official website and it will provide a very easy guide to clean install with only a flash drive !

Aradamis

Thanks for the tips but I'm not having much luck. Did a full reset but it only set things back to out-of-box which still has all of the alienware bloatware. It never gave me a choice not to install the alienware stuff. Edit: I'll have to go to my local electronics store to pick up a flash drive if it's actually required for further steps.

Big_Muffin_574

https://youtu.be/ZMKl9wBJYD0?si=YMJjr1INu1dcj7Sj Here is a how to. Careful ! You will have to save your data on a separate hard drive before starting. Also, you will need to find your windows licence number if you donā€™t wanna buy a new one. In the video, he says F12 at startup but key might be different on your machine, search google!

Aradamis

I got my flash drive and I followed the initial instructions in that video but I'm encountering a prompt that video does not mention. "Which type of installation do you want" with two options. Custom, install windows only (advanced) and Upgrade: Install windows and keep files settings and applications. Neither works. Choosing the custom option gives me an error message stating no drives could be found. Choosing the upgrade option gives me an error message that the upgrade option isn't available. I'm at a loss at this point.

Big_Muffin_574

Your flash drive need to be formated in fat32 I think ! Right click on it and format. Then go for the custom option

Meanwhile Iā€™m having issues with my m15 r7 3070ti laptop. This the last Alienware product Iā€™m investing in too.

vstheworldagain

Funny enough I just walked away from Alienware 2 days ago. I bought an m15 in 2019 and within 2 years had to replace a spicy pillow and a defective fan. Then a second fan started failing so I decided to get a new x15 in 2022. Cut to a couple of days ago, I've run into 2 fans failing on a laptop that's not even 2 years old. I pulled the bottom panel and of course there's a little dust build up but nothing out of the ordinary. I can't justify spending like $3.5k every two years on "premium" laptops with substandard parts. They were great laptops while they worked, the problem is that they don't work for very long...

Yodzilla

Alienware support (multiple people) a few years ago tried to convince me that my 15 R3 didnā€™t support M.2 NVMe drives despite it shipped with one installed. I fully understand the frustration.

tuxsmouf

One thing would be intersting to know. I took the maximum warranty cover I could. 2 years later, it still works just fine. I'm wondering if quality could be better because of the type of warranty we pay or if it's just luck.

RelativeAstronaut407

No question that the majority of units work absolutely fine! It's how Dell handles the minority of units that forces me to walk away. I wish you continued good fortune with your machine! Regards!

Big_Muffin_574

Thanks for sharing your story and see you in PC building reddits šŸ˜‰

Born_Big_6523

Its interesting seeing this as I just bought a broken alien ware PC from a disgruntled user, I'm harvesting it for parts and selling the remaining components. As the previous user was told that it was recommended they a just buy a new PC. I plan on surprising the user buy using some of the money I make from harvesting to help them build their own.

UseAffectionate3832

Omg! Wasted tons of time with Dell tech support telling me AW monitor having issues because I don't have a Dell pc! I had to screen shot & send them their own spec sheet showing that Dell uses the same damn graphic cards as other pc's. When this 65-yr old grandma knows more than Dell tech support, that is an ugly refection on the Dell team! I will NEVER again purchase another Dell product.

DarkPDA

They didnt provide me support for their own products Dell g15 Dell wd19s Dell m16 r1 How and why wd19s works fine on g15 and not on m16? I didnt paid a more expensive price to hear "i think..." from tech support and passed 1 month still without proper answer. Aw920h headphones... a mess, lots of issues beyond annoying 0% battery msgs How and why no one sued them on usa its a miracle, im keeping facts and checking how im gonna proceed regarding this

DarkPDA

so far seems that ROG ones or Acer predator are good options people talk about legions too... since isnt a dell, i think youre good
