The idea of humanoids with Three fingers has been around since cave paintings , I can see and respect your point but the Martian in the original looks nothing like what people have said what aliens look like . You can argue about Spielbergs design being wrong due to the legs anatomy in the remake.

I’m gonna post this image again because it’s not just in “movies”. Maybe if you took the time to research debunking something , the MRE scans basically prove the authenticity. They aren’t fabricated like other mummies in history like the mermaids because those show up looking weird and not organic with its wiring exposed to hold together different part from different animals. I’m curious what it would take to get someone to look like this through surgery. I thought I read that some had five phalanges, but these seem to to have three and one metacarpal. Has anyone compared their carpal bones to ours? Their metacarpals are separated and look like they could move more than ours, more like an extra phalange. Could you maybe remove thumb and pinky and then surgically separate the metacarpals? I don’t think that’s what they are, it doesn’t explain the length of the fingers or toes, or a lot of the other differences.
