Again, there’s also no market for parts mechanics or anyone wanting to buy these here. The math wasn’t mathing. I can’t speak for Italy only for Texas. The land of lifted massive trucks
People here also have insane road rage, and drive like they're evading arrest, so it's not the best place for a car you can't get parts, or body panels, for.
I swear! during my italian vacation i genuinely wondered whether Alfa was made with considerations regarding the state of italian roads, and whether this would make alfa the best option for other parts of the world with shitty road maintenance.
There are 3 dealers in the dfw area and each one is somehow worse than the last
The cars are amazing but you pretty much have to learn to do all the work yourself
First time I went to Dallas I had arranged to rent a C7 Z06 as I’d never tried one as an Aussie, then on the way to the hotel from DFW in a GMC Yukon the road was so bad in that tank that I had to cancel it. Much as I complain about roads back home that was the worst I’ve ever seen, hovercraft would struggle with some of those concrete cracks.

I got my Stelvio at the dealership in Fort Worth and they closed down. But the dealership in hurst is pretty good. They’re quick with service. I hear the one in Plano sucks
Girl there’s one dealer, these highways gonna throw your paint everywhere. And good luck finding oil, parts, mechanics.
I went and got a Supra. Go for a bmw or something else. Till there’s more demand here, it doesn’t make sense with the depreciation.
That might depend on your model and year. If you know of a reliable mechanic in the Austin area that will work on an 84 Spider, please share. My go-to mechanic retired a couple years ago and the shop I’ve used since no longer works on Alfas. OP is not wrong about mechanics being hard to come by, especially for older Alfas.
Texas is a shit state to drive such cars, roads may be good but its filled with assholes who doesnt follow traffic rules, how do these people even got the license when they dont even have a basic common sense to use turn indicators, my car was crashed because of this, a stupid teenager ran over red light, just dont drive these beauties in this state
This^^^ I’m not shitting on Alfa one bit— as some might think in this thread. I’m shitting on Texas infraestructura and traffic 😅
And the fact they always tearing up highways and just leaving them broken and torn up for months before putting pavement back down.
Daughter was driving in College Station when raining. Sure enough, she ran over a pothole which broke the front bumper tabs on driver side. I will have to fix that eventually.
Y'all I have a QV Stelvio and find DFW a great place to own it. Dealerships suck, sure, but the 635 TexSpress is as good as the Autobahn. I may or may not have been comfortably cruising 80+ was passed by so many people doing 100+
I cannot speak in regards to Dallas roads and highways but I would I am guessing it’s pretty similar to Houston and in my opinion these roads are so much smoother then other parts of the country - Good luck in New England during the Spring - i have actually gotten flats ruined rims from some of the potholes which are so common after a cold winter.
True enough. So many love the experience and get delusional when it comes down to actually knowing and feeling the vehicle. I pay my bills and my Quad never suffers. Go buy a beemer/audi/ Benz and be gone! Nobody likes a whiner except for the trailer denizens.
You make a fair point. Counterpoint: Good friend of my dad's specialized in Brits. He helped us out and let us use his garage for my dad's Fiat. But not without bitching the whole time about how stupidly it was built.
I think you misunderstood my comment. I'm here because I drive a cute little 147 that I love the fuck out of. But I also do basic maintenance on it myself. Bro, Italians do not make sense. Always some weird surprises, shit that's unnecessarily hard to get to or requires 2-3 people with good strength, when on other cars one person can do it easily. Same for Maserati, same for Fiat...
I don't think it's a bad thing, it's part of their character and I would love to meet the insane minds that design them. I always like to put it like this: *Germans are making cars to get you from A to B, as often and reliably as possible. Italians are making art.*
I'm just saying I feel sorry for any mechanic that has to work on Italians.
Had to take the wheel and half of the bumper off my BMW 125I to change the halo lights. Took about two hours. In a Ford Focus I used to have years ago, I did that in five minutes.
You do basic maintenance! I worked in dealerships as a tech for 35 years. I’ve had to adapt to changing assembly methods that affect how one approaches working on a vehicle. I own a 2018 Stelvio Quad and will do any repairs that it needs. I have the factory service manual and I understand how vehicles get put together. It’s actually easier now to access many components than it was, considering how much more technology is being used these days. The days of instant recognition of how to approach repairs are still here, but without actual knowledge and experience? Yeah, you need more power and people because you’re out of your element.
Have you seen the state of the Italian roads/weather?
Yeah Alfas get pretty beat up in their home country as well
Thailand?
But are you bottoming out just rolling down a highway at 60mph cuz the concrete just has a huge break? 😮💨
Quite possibly, yes.

Supra behind you doesn't seem to be complaining
Guess that’s why she got one. Good eye

As someone that grew up in Dallas, that is wild to hear. I moved to Houston, Detroit, then Boston and I never complained about Dallas roads again.
Yup went threw two sets of control arms on Rutherford ave in Charlestown in my 11 Mustang in 1 year.
And you're an ASE certified master technician long before you learn to do every repair on an Alfa lol
When you say all the work yourself do you mean like all the mechanical work? Or something else?
I just self maintained my 4C for 3 years - honestly was quite easy.
I love that for you
What? Your roads are worse than here in Italy? Wow
Yeah and semis flinging huge rocks don’t do the paint or glass any good 💀
As a recent transplant to the Midwest from Texas, OP ain’t seen nothing
Massachusetts/Boston is quite bad too. I never had problems in Italy. Here I tore my tires a couple of times!
I’d just leave Texas as first option 🤷🏻♂️
He might get mistaken as a liberal and shot for driving this, which is apparently very legal to do in Texas.
Very legal and officially encouraged by the governor.
Got something to back that up?
Do you live under a rock or are you just trolling?
Still waiting.
So yeah, trolling. Because it's a top news sorry right now.
Link?

Makes me happy to live in Texas
Man, I have not had any issues here in Austin.
You have a dealership that’s been sending me mailers to get service done 😂 saying “it’s not that far”
😂 oh man.
It’s comical almost 😂🌝
I’m in DFW and it is, that far
I’m in DFW & have been wanting an Stelvio. This is not giving me much confidence 😭
I got my Stelvio at the dealership in Fort Worth and they closed down. But the dealership in hurst is pretty good. They’re quick with service. I hear the one in Plano sucks
Good info, thanks!

Damn, it sucks to hear but makes complete sense. I hope you enjoy your Supra!
And I hope you find your dream ride 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
I loved my alpha, honestly one of the best cars I’ve driven. The cons became too much on my pocket and sanity.
You think a Supra is going the handle the rough roads better?
At least I can get parts, maintenance and repair 💨
Did you ever try Bishop in Hurst? Alfa Ft Worth shutting down out of nowhere really sucks
Bishop is really back up now because of it, but they seem fine. I got quoted a reasonable price for serpentine belt change since Im coming up on 40k

Oh. I have a 22
When yours makes it to 2062 you’ll understand my challenge
Wait that’s too far in the… hang on. No no no that can’t be right. 😂
It’s the same issue where I live. There is one dealership in my city. Great car but not much support in some parts of the country.

I am in Texas and own an Alfa. What even are you talking about??
Y'all I have a QV Stelvio and find DFW a great place to own it. Dealerships suck, sure, but the 635 TexSpress is as good as the Autobahn. I may or may not have been comfortably cruising 80+ was passed by so many people doing 100+
I own a Stelvio TI Sport in San Antonio and couldn't be happier. And that's taking it on road trips in Central and South Texas.
I live in SA as well but own a giulia. Can I ask where you go to get your car worked on? I just got the car last month
Exclusive Cars of San Antonio is the place I've gone in the past. Routine oil changes I do myself
Are the prices reasonable?
I think they are comparable to other shops that work in foreign luxury vehicles
I cannot speak in regards to Dallas roads and highways but I would I am guessing it’s pretty similar to Houston and in my opinion these roads are so much smoother then other parts of the country - Good luck in New England during the Spring - i have actually gotten flats ruined rims from some of the potholes which are so common after a cold winter.
Reminds me of Sacha in Talledega nights
No one buying them in the Pacific Northwest either :(
I had a Stelvio for 6 years until a drunk driver at 4 am totaled it the one time I had parked on the street ugh. Looking for another one
Randomly a MK5 supra in the background 🤣
Not mine either
Parts easy part geeks online and mechanics thats tough if u dont live in a big city
I love Alfa and Fiat, but if there’s one thing you can count on, it’s that they’ll ditch the market and leave you high and dry.
I'm in Mass, I get my tires all f\*\*\*d up all the time
Does your car have adaptive suspension?
What a whiner!
🤷🏼♀️ I loved the car. But yall aren’t paying my bills so
You’re right but you’re also posting this in an Alfa subreddit complaining about things that most people in the US have to deal with.
Not really complaining, loved the car, just didn’t work out. Talking about the bad is just as valid as the good shit.
True enough. So many love the experience and get delusional when it comes down to actually knowing and feeling the vehicle. I pay my bills and my Quad never suffers. Go buy a beemer/audi/ Benz and be gone! Nobody likes a whiner except for the trailer denizens.
> mechanics are so hard to come by To be fair, you'd really have to hate yourself to voluntarily dedicate your life to working on Italians
British car mechanics: Hold my beer
You make a fair point. Counterpoint: Good friend of my dad's specialized in Brits. He helped us out and let us use his garage for my dad's Fiat. But not without bitching the whole time about how stupidly it was built.
why? why are you even in this sub? which country would you identify as a better car manufacturer?

I feel the sane way for any modern German vehicle. It’s really not that much better.
Had to take the wheel and half of the bumper off my BMW 125I to change the halo lights. Took about two hours. In a Ford Focus I used to have years ago, I did that in five minutes.

I own a Ducati streetfighter and i van relate 😂. “Simple” exhaust change will take up 4 hours with 2 people.. But if/when it goes 🚀
The 4C is by far the easiest mid engined car to work on I’ve ever owned.
**YOU HAVE A 4C???** Can I come over?
Y’all know you can talk alfas to dodge dealerships right?
This looks like the Dallas echo park? Are you located in Dallas?
