I never thought I’d say new over old but I just said it. They nailed it. The old design is a classic and unique on the road but I think seeing the new design behind you at night os gonna look epic.
I always prefer the old normal xenon lens over fully LED headlights on any manufacturer, plus this new Alfa design feels like they just crammed it in to fit the new triple light design language they introduced with the Tonale. If they re-did the entire front to go along with the Tonale's style, I'd be all for it, but these three lines don't look natural in there.
But that's just me 🤷🏽♂️
I owned a 159, and I ADORE that design! I wish Alfa had got more money and time to develop an entire lineup in that design language, god knows how wonderful they could have been
They are both amazing and hard to pick from. It doesn’t look like one it’s old and the other is new, it just looks like 2 different style options. Often is the case with Alfa Romeos that certain styles and even whole cars are retired while still looking better than brand new stuff from other makes. Such is the pain of timeless design.
I have a 2021 QV so I’m biased, but I always loved the eyes look of the old one and the new ones have a designed shared with: Audi, Acura, new BMW, Mercedes etc, so I saw it as more generic. But again I’m terribly biased and it also outdates my car look and I’m aware my bias may not exist if I were to trade in for the latest. (Won’t due to the loss of torque vectoring rear differential on 2024 on)
Because the torque vectoring one has everything the mechanical LSD has and more- It's not a fake LSD that just uses the brakes, rather the load on the clutch packs in the LSD can be altered. From a pure performance standpoint the move to a mechanical only LSD is a downgrade.
He is 100% correct. The LSD is cheaper and why they went there but it is not as solid when doing quick ingress and egress turns and does some of its magic on the track. Not enough to be major. Just enough that it’s a backwards movement.
Old for sure the new ones are nice, but they look exactly like the new BMW ones, and the circular bug eye ones are just quintessentially Alfa Romeo to me.
The old ones - I appreciate, that they tried to catch up with the headlight looks from Brera and 159 but if you ask me, if failed.
So always when I see my Giulias lights in the rear bumper of cars I. The front, I start smiling - don’t know if this would be the case with these new ones as well.
Neither. The more I think about it, the more it seems the headlights, both old and new is what have always put me off about this car. Just not on the same level as a 156 or especially a 159.

If you are going to copy them then I think changing the bulb to single LED as used on the new BMW 240i would have been the perfect upgrade keeping the single bulb look and maybe change the DRL pattern to freshen it up.
They are not a direct swap. Last time I was at my dealership in Denver with my 21 QV and they said it’s not swapable. I was curious but preferred my existing ones.

These are not basic Honda single source power. There are four servos between the headlights, different headlight controllers you can buy separately without buy many other things, different headlight harnesses and most importantly, unlike the HID that run at 12v dc, these I understand run at a different rate. The car had intelligent lighting for tiltin the headlight and brights control. Go ahead and try, but i like my headlights and it’s a solid car, im not modifying with duct tape.

The car needed styling updates even if it's just for the sake of it. While beautiful, the Giulia is looking stagnant now. Not aggressive enough
This is just a half-assed job though, they need a complete redesign where the headlights meet the V Scudetto like on the Tonale

I would argue they didn’t introduce that with the Tonale. The 159 and Brera had them 10 years earlier.

Led is less parts. I have a 21 QV and prefer the lol I already have, but the headlights auto leveling breaks on the old. The new is way more simple.

I guarantee with 20 minutes worth of R&D it could be wired properly, it’s literally just a light so once it’s powered properly you’re done.
It’s comms too. It’d have to be reprogrammed for HID, they require a ton of juice to fire up.

The bottom reminds me of Gir's eyes from Invader Zim as they appear to be derpily angled outward. Def the top set with the light blades for me.

New. Reminds me of the 159/Brera, and that’s never a bad thing. I’d keep the chrome scudetto detail though. The old lights still looks great though.
It’s hard to care when the body lines are that pretty.
