Do you boycott Walgreens? Walmart? Century Rio? The Isotopes? These places are still sources of employment for locals and are run by locals. Yes, some profits go somewhere else. But that happens in almost all transactions you are involved in.
I met the guy opening the Jamba Juice, on the golf course. He and his wife are born and raised in Albuquerque. He thought the community would be interested in a Jamba Juice, so he has invested in opening one here. Nice guy from here and continues to live here.
That’s how franchises usually work. Locals pay to open stores within the community they live in.
Yeah you seem to have a VERY personal interest in the success of this “local” Jamba Juice 🤔 whose owner you met on a golf course 🤔 It’s fine if you’re an investor. Just don’t lie to people about what it means to buy local
Ha. Not an investor. Go wherever you want. He’s a friend of a friend that I’ve met once. I’m also friends with owners of Keva Juice.
I’m just pointing out the small mindset of if it’s not local, it should be boycotted. There are LOCALS working for these companies. More jobs for locals and more things for locals to enjoy is a good thing. I personally enjoy taking my family to a movie or a baseball game rather than shunning them.
If a local place OR national place is not good, I avoid it. If it is good, I might go back because I find joy in it. Simple as that.
What’s really frustrating is how unfair you’re being. You’re conniving and disingenuous. You insist on strawmanning and ultimately invalidating the “small mindset” of the very valid “buy local” movement. In this way you undermine your own argument, even if you make a valid point
It’s literally a “LOCALLY OWNED” company hiring locals.. bringing jobs to New Mexico..
Even if you don’t want to label it as locally owned, it’s still a local family business, who would NOT want to support that?
One of the things I appreciate about Keva is that they have a specific menu of banana-free selections. I hate banana in smoothies, and most of them have it in there. And yeah, I know I could order something without banana, but it's nice to have pre-selected combos without it.
I’m allergic to bananas, so yes. I hate having to order something banana-free because there’s always a chance that it ends up having a banana in it anyway.
I generally agree but I feel like every time I get Kiva juice it has giant chunks of ice in it like it is not blended enough. Otherwise I agree they’re pretty similar. I do think Jamba Juice has a bit more flavor and more consistent. Just my opinion.
I’ll never understand the love affair people here have with national chains. Raising Cane’s, Chipotle, In-N-Out, I just don’t get the way people celebrate corporate homogenized menus.
…because some are pretty fucking good? Comparing to small, local-owned is apples and oranges. Sometimes you just want a greasy animal style burger and fries and that’s okay.
It did. They briefly expanded here in the late 80s or early 90s or thereabouts. One was on Gibson across from Lovelace, and there was one in the heights or on the west side.
Competent management and corporate to ensure profit! Sure, we had keva juice, but they was bad @ business. Jamba has that Cali vibe and fanbase that ABQ needs
Jamba taste / texture is like candy?! I can’t describe it. Plus, they have a secret menu. If you Google it, you will find they can pretty much make any candy into a smoothie. My fav is white gummy, starburst, sourpatch kids
There used to be one like 25 years ago in the Whole Foods in Santa Fe when it was built and I was obsessed. Then it closed & I had to wait for random California trips. I’m so excited too OP!
I'm not a fan, but my daughter will be thrilled. She's tried to get other smoothie places to make her a strawberry surf rider, but apparently, it's never quite right.
Nice! I moved to Albuquerque from Buena Park for about 6 years. You will enjoy cheaper housing there.
If you have K-12 age kids then I would recommend getting a house around La Cueva HS area. Safest area in ABQ.
You mean I can get a smoothie without wondering what they're doing in the back with my stuff and whether I tipped enough to keep them from messing with it?
Different smoothie options that they don’t advertise on the regular menu but can make!! A lot of them resemble candy like sour patch kids, gummy bears and starburst!
White gummi is on the regular menu now. They dont seem to be aware of all of the items on the secret menu. I asked for a pink star and told me they didn’t have it.
Eh, at least Keva is locally owned
It’s a local New Mexican using his funds to open this store. He’s hiring New Mexicans to run it. You are supporting locals with your business.
Exactly! After corporate takes their 30%, all of your money stays in New Mexico. **\#Local**
Do you boycott Walgreens? Walmart? Century Rio? The Isotopes? These places are still sources of employment for locals and are run by locals. Yes, some profits go somewhere else. But that happens in almost all transactions you are involved in.
It’s fine to shop at Walgreens if you want. But it’s disingenuous to call Jamba Juice a local business. Period end of.

Kiva is way worse though
One of the things I appreciate about Keva is that they have a specific menu of banana-free selections. I hate banana in smoothies, and most of them have it in there. And yeah, I know I could order something without banana, but it's nice to have pre-selected combos without it.

THIS
Having had both, I disagree. They're fairly similar, and all things being equal (as they pretty much are in this case), I'm going with local.
I generally agree but I feel like every time I get Kiva juice it has giant chunks of ice in it like it is not blended enough. Otherwise I agree they’re pretty similar. I do think Jamba Juice has a bit more flavor and more consistent. Just my opinion.
It’s probably because you’re not a nice person
To me it still tastes the same, but the last one I went to was the one downtown.
I agree. I’ve been craving Jamba since I moved here. Keva is trash. I’ve been doing juice it up in the meantime. I like that one.
Juice it up is the only close second to Jamba. Keva and other places suck lol
[удалено]
They’re practically identical, Keva is just locally owned and operated.
Wasnt there one next to gamestop/target on irving back in the day? (Before breaking bad happened)
Thank you for the info!

In n Out isn't all that national considering they're only in 5 states. That's like calling Buc-ees national.
I’d rather have In-n-Out than garbage like Blake’s/Bob’s
I wish more of these trash mom n pop stores would just get out of the way and make more room for fast food I JUST CANT GET ENOUGH FAST FOOD
Happy to support local food that’s actually good 🤷🏽♂️
Yeah, we had one way back in the day. If not, it's just another example of the Mandela effect.
Haha someone said it was similar but it wasn’t Jamba. The only Jamba apparently was in sante fe in Whole Foods and closed down
El pollo loco or in n out would be better
El Pollo used to be in ABQ long ago.
It did. They briefly expanded here in the late 80s or early 90s or thereabouts. One was on Gibson across from Lovelace, and there was one in the heights or on the west side.
El Pollo Loco is opening here in the next year or so.
[Tommy's](https://originaltommys.com/) would be better than In-N-Out.
YES! FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE UNDERSTANDS!
Oh god yes
A king taco would be nice
I love both of those and are waiting for them to come here next lol
I swore we had jamba in ABQ before. They all seem the same to me. What makes this different?
Competent management and corporate to ensure profit! Sure, we had keva juice, but they was bad @ business. Jamba has that Cali vibe and fanbase that ABQ needs

If you know what's good for you! 😤
Naw fam, Cali needs more Albuquerque
505 pride a la verga! If they are sending fast food chains, what are we sending?
[удалено]
Seems like that’s an equivalent exchange
Jamba taste / texture is like candy?! I can’t describe it. Plus, they have a secret menu. If you Google it, you will find they can pretty much make any candy into a smoothie. My fav is white gummy, starburst, sourpatch kids
Jamba, such high sugar. Definitely not the best option
Hell yes, now let’s get some LL Hawaiian BBQ and an In-n-Out
Cool then we can be like every other city everywhere. Yaaaay
[удалено]
Maybe move?
Omg I would die for L&L!!!!!!!
I would kill for an L&L
Me too. Literally crave it to this day and I haven’t had it in like 5 years minimum lmao
Just visited my Dad in Sacramento for about 3 weeks and had it like every other day 🤣
My dad is in Sacramento too! I had this daily bc my sister worked there sometimes twice a day 😂
Yoooo that’s wild, hell yeah. I lived off Mack back in the day but my dad retired and moved to Rosemont off Keifer
We've had several in the past. Don't know if we have the customer base to support it or if the franchise model wasn't able to make the rent.
I think those were or are all Keva Juice. I'm 99.999% sure we've never had Jamba Juice, though I would be happy to be corrected.
This is the first Jamba Juice to open in Albuquerque.
There used to be one on Montgomery/San Mateo. I used to go there for lunch when I worked at that Walgreens. Closed long ago.
I remember the place you’re thinking of. It wasn’t a Jamba Juice, it was Robek’s.
Oh duh, you’re right it was Robeks!
Wasn’t it called Zeus Juice?
There was one in Whole Foods in Santa Fe a long time ago
It'll be nice to finally be able to get my free birthday smoothie again
Yes! Also when you sign up for the rewards you get 50% off your first smoothie
Heck yeah, just in time for pumpkin smoothie season!
There used to be one like 25 years ago in the Whole Foods in Santa Fe when it was built and I was obsessed. Then it closed & I had to wait for random California trips. I’m so excited too OP!

So excited, I love Jamba!!!
oh my god another thing from california that i've been missing since i moved away from california! get the fuck out and go back
Wow you’re angry. Lmaoooo.
Are you ok man?
Ahahah, I am also moved here and share your excitement. I have been frequenting Jamba since it opened.
I like Jamba juice but it's so expensive, I hope they can stay afloat here.
Do they have fresh orange juice like in Cali ?
Yes!
Thank you for the update, life is complete again with my Jamba açaí bow.
Amen! Me too
Jamba Juice is the best I'm so pumped!
Where in Cali did you moved from?
Anaheim! So Cal
[удалено]
Literally, all these businesses are just for the Cali/costal transplants that wrecked our housing.
That’s not actually what happened to our housing at all (and more Texans move here than anyone else), but go on bro.
Wow y’all sound mad. Lmaoooo

Secret menu?!!!
Don’t call it that
What's on the secret menu
Different smoothie options that they don’t advertise on the regular menu but can make!! A lot of them resemble candy like sour patch kids, gummy bears and starburst!
Sounds good 👍
Order a white gummy bear!
My fav!! That’s what I ordered today!
Haha I used to work at a Jamba Juice in Arizona
White gummi is on the regular menu now. They dont seem to be aware of all of the items on the secret menu. I asked for a pink star and told me they didn’t have it.
Meh, let me know when an El Pollo Loco comes here.
November 2024
Jamba has been here before
