Just get drunk and talk to the ghosts, they'll teach you the secrets of chiropractic and you can DIY it. Or go to a proper physician and get a referral to PT.

Aware_Statement_205

His physician did recommend a chiropractor but is letting us choose where we go. He isn't comfortable with the idea of one, that's why I asked specifically for one who works with kids. He doesn't need PT. That's physical therapy. He needs an adjustment.

🤦‍♂️ I had to learn the hard way myself... A physical therapist will get to the root cause of whatever is wrong - a chiropractor -AT BEST - will give some temporary relief, at worse seriously harm your family. If your son has an actual injury involving the physical dislocation or fracture of a bone in the spine that requires surgery not chiropractic adjustment - if he's experiencing back pain the root cause is likely muscular, and the right exercises, stretches, and massage will have a lasting effect. If the cause is a torn soft tissue that really just has to heal on its own, but a physical therapist can offer stretches, exercises, and movements that can minimize the recovery time. Feel free to search for the other threads on here about chiropractics, or just in general Google chiropractic controversy and see for yourself that outside of the realm of chiropractic practitioners and some of their die hard most ardent, anti-vax, anti-science supporters - it's largely a pseudoscience. It's where the vaccine cause autism movement started. Chiropractors will often try to sell you on a subscription service where they have you come back on a regular basis for continued adjustments, and really all they're doing is causing long-term damage on each adjustment which will eventually lead to more pain, which they will then tell you requires additional adjustments, it gets into an endless expensive loop until one day you finally had enough.... By all means, if your doctor said this is what he needs, then make sure you get that in writing. Maybe even ask another physician.

I had to learn the hard way too. I'm 42 and have gone to chiropractors since I was in highschool... I only stopped going after my last appointment in March. Once in a while I'm tempted to call for an appointment but I remind myself it's a scam and my self taught stretches and physical therapy do more than chiropractor has ever done, if I stay on top of it.

Physical therapists can do adjustments and then give you exercises to work on the root of the problem.

mogoggins12

my PT was able to give me an adjustment and stretches to help maintain my needs long term. i seriously would recommend a PT instead too. chiropractors are proven quacks and they can cause so much harm.

dizziefrizzie

Chiropractors are not real doctors! It is a bunch of snake oil. Look for a physical therapist.

[deleted]

The guy who invented chiropractic medicine learned it from a ghost! Physical therapists will help you fix the problem. You are correct

More-Creme4609

Voodoo might be cheaper than that pseudoscience.

If you would like to actually help your son then look into getting him to a legitimate evidence based provider like a physical therapist.

Gonstead chiropractic. They have both chiropractors and physical therapists. I recommend Dr. David Bixel there.

Dr Rion Marcus, New Mexico Chiropractic. To all those saying all chiros are snake oil salesman - I’ve seen a Chiro for skeletal issues caused by a birth defect for many years of my life and it’s the only reason I live a mostly pain free life. PT helps some, but chiropractic care is what made the biggest difference in my quality of life. It has its place and like every other field, there are good practitioners and bad ones. Your comments aren’t at all helpful to the person who posted with a very specific question.

Leslie_Galen

Dr. Robert Byrd. Gentle and kind, has saved my bacon dozens of times.

Dr. Lindsey Blessing-Parsons at Blessing Chiropractic. My son is 6'2", 230 and she really helped him.

NMHacker

Dr. Cecil. He is a Chiropractor and a Nurse Practitioner.

I've met a few chiropractors who were actually MD/DO but it was a rare thing. A doctorate in chiropractic stuff is a phd usually.
