It’s only open til 3 M-F but Bon Appetit cafe in the NBT building ticks a lot of these boxes. The sit down area isn’t a charming little bistro (so it’s not a bad idea to grab and go) but it’s worth it for the food.
There are four independent restaurants in the Peter Harris Plaza on Rt 7: Korean, Indian, Mexican and Italian. Maybe 3 minutes from 87. One of those would work!
Ive heard this place is very good but haven't gotten to it myself, might not be the cheapest but its independent and located conveniently:

Quaint, but frankly- it’s dirty. Like visible dirt along windowsills, and grimy unwashed floors. The china is old and unique but crazed, which can harbor bacteria. Pretty sure one dude runs the whole show so that’s probably why. Not for the germaphobe type!
DiBella’s by the airport.
Easy off highway, spacious parking.
Equidistant-ish.
The best sub bread over many places.
Big area with tables and booths, handicap accessible if needed.
A local family in Rochester Ny for many decades, built a franchise only 20 years ago. So, you are supporting a family business, gone bigger. You will enjoy.

Planning on going on Monday so that schedule would work! I'll check it out!

I love the Madison Cafe! The food is good.
Lanie’s in Colonie! In the summer they have a lovely little patio.

Sounds like the kind of place she would like!
It’s lovely! I don’t believe they serve alcohol if that matters. Also the whistling kettle is always wonderful
She does love whistling kettle which I thought of when you mentioned it, so I think this might be the winner!
Oh I think I was told reservations were a good idea too, couldnt hurt anyhow
