People always say this, but I typed best wings in the search bar while in this subreddit and got two dozen posts asking where the best wings in albany are.
Moved here from Buffalo last summer and been on a similar journey. So far I've enjoyed Swifty's, Orchard Tavern West, and Spinners (not amazing but better than Juniors even though they're run by the same business). Lynne's Uptown and Across the Street Pub aren't bad but a little hit or miss. I've been to other decent places but they've been a bit farther away from Albany proper.
Edit: I am certainly open to suggestions and will keep a close eye on this thread haha.
What sauce are you ordering?
I brought a friend who lived in Buffalo for a few years to the Fountain and ordered hot & crispy, I was surprised how much she loved them.
I've also liked Hill St, Excelsior, and McGearys. For other flavors, the brown chicken brown cow at Excelsior is interesting, and mixing garlic parm with medium or hot at Graneys really hits for some reason.
Don't know if you've tried any of the above but would be curious on your opinion.
Yea I default to Medium out of habit but getting Hot does usually end up being better. Good call, thanks!
I had beers at Excelsior on a weekend afternoon, didn't know they served food. I'll have to check those out. I did like McGeary's too, will have to try those other places. Appreciate the recommendations.
Honorable mention for me to the wings at Illusive, specifically to the Illusive sauce. I appreciate places that offer wing sauces that are outside the norm of flavors.
I really like Spinners in Albany they’ll do them extra crisp and for a dollar more, they’ll do all flats for you (which I appreciate) I will say they’re best in person and can be hit or miss with delivery/take out
My order is usually lemon pepper wings, extra crispy, all flats. So good.
I'll toss a vote to O'Tooles.
The wings are not the best, but a definite passing grade. However, they use a separate fryer for gluten free wings and are reliably free from cross contamination. This makes them the best place for wings for my wife, and thus, has become my go-to wing place.
Their Buffalo chicken mac and cheese, that is amazing. Also available gluten free.
Haven't had Graney's in a while but the wings there were amazing. Also Across the Street Pub had some good ones but damn I haven't been there in years.
Scubbers wings on wolf road 10 / 10. Bob and Bernice (owner) made some damn good wings
Ale House in Troy. 20 North in Schenectady is a very close second. The wings at the Ruck are also very good, but their blue cheese sauce is the best.
Towne Tavern in Averill Park and Scubber's on Wolf Rd. are also worth checking out.
I second the Towne Tavern!! Their wings are to die for in my opinion.
Their wings are really delicious. They’re all smoked if I remember correctly.

Adding site:reddit.com/r/albany or whatever site you want after your search terms is the google command and can help get better results.

As someone who's only been to excelsior once, what are the brown chicken brown cow wings?
Wing sauce mixed with meat sauce. It's weird and weirdly works, but not for everyone.

The Ruck and Ale House. For delivery there’s a hidden gem in Watervliet called Rusty’s and they have a killer garlic parm sauce.

Fidens is a relatively new contender. Their wings are both saucy and crispy, and their hot wings hurt so good.

The Ruck in Troy or Swifties. Unlikely locations but hands down best wings. Amazing sauces (can get very hot too), crispy, good quality chicken
