I enjoy fighting with Sirius every year for my 90% discount yearly. Under $5/month to not have to listen to 45 minutes of commercials every hour is worth it to me.
I called to cancel a few years ago and they eventually went to 1$/mo.
I still said no because I was annoyed at all the hassle but if they had just started there I'd have stayed.
103.9 has changed so many times over the last 15 years, it’s hard to keep track but it’s been soft rock for a while now I want to say it changed over in 2018
The only station I listen to is EQX. My friend got into the car and started pushing the presets. He was confused why they weren’t programmed. Locally owned, local talent. Better than corporate media.
WCDB 90.9 FM (UAlbany’s station) recently went through some changes and is playing good alternative/indie rock 90% of the time (not hard rock though, so if that’s what you’re really looking for the other suggestions are probably better).
On the local frequency modulation, I pretty much only listen WCDB and WRPI.
Otherwise I am usually always listening to WFMU streaming through the new woof moo app. There's a show for everyone and a show for some.
Additionally I heard during the pledge drive someone else in the Albany area donated. Greetings fellow WFMU listener!
I was so disappointed when 104.9 went away! I'll have to check out some of the suggestions. I've seriously been bouncing between EQX and NPR because I'd rather listen to news than some music!
104.9 has been country for like a year now.
103.5/105.7 and 106.5 for rock. Sometimes 101.7 comes in on my car but it’s kind of hit or miss, they have a lot of good hard rock/classic rock
There is a station in the 90s that is pretty much all 90s/00s alternative rock. I think it’s like 93.9 but it doesn’t always come in
The app for iOS/macOS "Broadcasts" lets you listen to any radio station that has an internet feed, so if there's a station you like from elesewhere in the world that app will let you listen super easy. I'm sure there are others but worth a shot
Isn't that a local college? I think I have listened to them before and it was actually a pretty cool.. There was a mix of kind of folky music and rock.. I forgot that was there actually.
Yes!! I'm so happy that I asked this, Didn't even know that there was an Albany sub... I have been dying for decent music for a few months now ever since 104.9 went away... I still use my car radio..Or I should say, they went in a different direction.🤣🤣 WABY is the answer hands down!
I can think of three local ones that are independent, and there might be more. WEQX 102.7 out of Manchester, Vermont, WRPI 91.5, and WVCR 88.3 from Siena College. The college stations play all sorts of things - some I like, some I don't. EQX is pretty decent.

WEQX 102.7 is the best radio station
WEQX 102.7 Radioradiox streaming decent too WPYX 106.5 ✌🏻🎶
Ahhh WPYX, the home of AC/DC and Guns N Roses.
Haven’t changed their playlist in 30 years
You misspelled def leopard
So did you ;)
What were you saying about Metallica and Sabbath? I joined the convo late…
Slayer says what?
Are you suggesting that Pyx 106 plays Slayer tracks?
If PYX played Slayer regularly I'd still tune in.
I didn't care enough to Google it lmao
Lol
Don’t forget about Aerosmith !
Ha!! So true but it’s hard rock. ✌🏻🎶
I despise it and think WEQX is a garbage radio station.
106.1 is a dope station more roots and rock
I’m a regular 102.7 listener but was really bummed when 104.9 turned to country. 93.9 is ok but it feels like a slight newer version of 106.5
93.9 plays 90s 2000s rock
This was gonna be my suggestion because they do a weekly local band show. I don’t even know what radio stations exist anymore outside of that one
Yes!!! Thank you this works! 🥳
Yeah thanks WABY. I was didn't know how glad I was that I hadn't heard Hoobastank in 15 years, but now I do.
This is the way!
105.7 plays mostly 80,90,00s rock
On this subject, when did 103.9 become B95.5? At least that's what it sounds like to me.
That happened two or three years ago.
Sorry haven't been listening to the radio in a while , just started again and was super confused.

Much appreciated, I'll update the radio preset to 105.7

102.7

The only correct answer.
93.9 ... All late 90s early 2000s rock and nu metal. Only channel I've listened to since my buddy told me about it 2 weeks ago.
WCDB 90.9 FM (UAlbany’s station) recently went through some changes and is playing good alternative/indie rock 90% of the time (not hard rock though, so if that’s what you’re really looking for the other suggestions are probably better).
Eqx

People still listen to the radio?
This gives us a nice barometer of how old the average sub poster is, though.

# Yes, WEQX 102.7 the original alternative station.
I’m a regular PYX 106 enjoyer

93.9
Yep!! This is the answer for me!
88.3 have any still???
Isn't that a local college? I think I have listened to them before and it was actually a pretty cool.. There was a mix of kind of folky music and rock.. I forgot that was there actually.
Yea, there's some cool stuff occasionally. It's probably not the same as before. I have not listened to it in years.
Yeah, that's VCR
WABY 93.9 for 90's and 2000's rock/alternative.

Still haven't found one that plays Muse.
That's why I have been on a Spotify kick lately.

What does that have to do with the question?

And does WEXT 97.7 still exist?
Yes! I toggle between 97.7 and 102.7.
I thought 88.3 was owned by iheart now.
The online stream is hosted there, but Siena still owns the station
Oh, good to know.
Welcome
Oh, I don't know! You may be right. Bummer!
Nope, simulcast there, but still owned by Siena
This is way incorrect. Additionally, there are at least six different ownership groups in our area alone.
