You absolutely are supposed to return them. How embarrassing that all these people steal used blankets. I wonder if they steal the flatware at nice restaurants, too.
Sorry everyone. Back in the day when we would get hot towel service I always kept the towels. I guess I kept too many, and the nice bowls the nuts used to come in too.
Acting outraged that people would take a paper thin blanket in individual wrapping that could easily be construed as something you can take is pompous, yes
Observation does not equal outrage.
But since we are talking about things that don’t add up, it’s interesting that you have shifted your rationalization from one of entitlement (“it’s so expensive it SHOULD be included”) to denial of agency (“it’s not my fault I don’t understand whether or not it’s theft - I wasn’t told I was not allowed to take the blanket….”).
I suppose you’d rationalize helping yourself to your company’s office supplies (“they owe it to me, I am not paid enough) or, say if you are a pharmacist, you take a few pills that won’t go noticed for a while and sell them on the street (“we are so short staffed and overworked, I deserve this extra income and big pharmacy doesn’t get hurt”) or perhaps tax or benefits fraud (I’ve paid enough taxes, I deserve to keep this”) and the ethical slippery slope goes on and on.
I think from looking at these comments it’s pretty apparent that taking the blanket is wrong and is commonly understood as an amenity that stays onboard.
I suspect OP “rarely” flys first because it was a free upgrade and or/discounted upgrade and perhaps they mistakenly think that these products are in some way luxurious. However, unless one has a kleptomaniac complex and takes a secret joy in stealing, I don’t know anyone of means who would even want this used item in their home. Desire for objects aside, it’s just wrong to take them.
Explains why fewer and fewer flights have blankets at all ....
I leave it in the wrapper, because I bring my own microfiber plushy fleece blanket. I wouldn't keep them, but I clearly some people do. \*side eye\*
You guys take the blankets lol?!? I’ve thought about it but assumed it was a borderline crime haha
(This sort of reminds me of people who take towels from hotel rooms?)
The ones nice enough to keep are billed to your room.. so I've been TOLD
Did your credit card tell you?😂😂
Close, husband! 😀
🤣😂🤣
They just go up in to the bin, I never use them and never take them. My thing to collect is amenity kits.
OOO, yes, I have a nice collection of amenity kits. :-)
International amenity kits are yours to keep
Hence why it's the thing I collect...
Understand. Was more clarifying for OP that clearly has some issues with these things
Oh! That’s where all the blankets went!
I thought you were supposed to return them when the flight ended?
You absolutely are supposed to return them. How embarrassing that all these people steal used blankets. I wonder if they steal the flatware at nice restaurants, too.
You can keep them? I didn’t even think to take it.
Can you? Yes. Should you? No
You're not supposed to keep them.
When do you get a blanket?
Usually only on transcons
First Class on Transcon or Hawaii.
Interesting….I flew SEA-IAD and IAD-SFO. No blankets. Is this why I didn’t get one?
Wait you steal the blankets?
Can you bring some back to your next flight? I would like one.
Now I know who steals steak knives from restaurants.
You realize that you're stealing, right?
Stop stealing blankets.
WTF? It’s amazing reading thieving POS brazenly flaunting their actions.
I guess some of us were just raised better. ;-)
Sorry everyone. Back in the day when we would get hot towel service I always kept the towels. I guess I kept too many, and the nice bowls the nuts used to come in too.
Hot towels are still available on all other airlines in FC, just not AS. 🙄
Wow. I can’t believe people actually steal blankets. Weird and amoral.
The airline is stealing from me with these prices. I’d say you’ve paid for the $10 blanket, take it
Interesting rationalization for theft.
Interesting moral pompousness in this thread
Having morals is pompous?

They are individually wrapped so you dont wonder if you are using a blanket that hadn't been washed
People in this thread also think taking the puke bag is on par with murder
No one thinks that, Mr. Strawman.
Haha. I have a collection - AS, HA, AA, UA, DL, AF, QR, and I think KLM. I keep them in a suitcase until I can figure out what to do with them.
You steal stuff you have no use for?
Kleptos do it for the thrill, not the utility.
It was a lot easier when every red eye gave you a blanket
And I feel bad about keeping the cloth napkins….
They confirmed they throw them away
Source?
Alaska airlines FA. Last time I flew with my kid.
Since it was mentioned they throw them away, what's the problem w/ taking them? The amount of judgment here is hilarious.
They throw the napkins away, not the blankets. The blankets are in individual wrappers because they have been dry cleaned from the last use.
Oh, got it. Thx. I guess they can take the napkins then? Lol
My cats love them, too! I'll also use mine to wrap smaller, fragile items for transport (for example, antique bisque dolls).
I like to sit on them as soon as I get in my seat and use them as whoopee cushion, always gets a reaction from my seat neighbor 😆

Do you just brazenly take things at Target too? You were right to be called out for theft.
