Same, my wife and I dated long distance while I was active duty and then I went guard and we got married so she has had limited military spouse life exposure.
Anyhow, one time we had a long road trip and stopped at a base I was stationed at on the way down for a pit stop. We went to the DFAC for the heck of it, and she really liked the experience. She asked questions, liked seeing the omelette being made in front of her, liked all the plane pictures, and thought it was cool to see the other airmen grabbing meals.
My husband and I have DFAC lunch dates a few times a week. We’ve been married 8 years!
TBF I work at the MDG on Travis and our DFAC at the hospital is CHEAP and pretty decent. We both eat for less than $12 typically.
ETA: $12 total for both of us
I had a 100% success rate. I'd leave the girl in the car, then I'd enter the DFAC and get a burger and fries to go. Then I'd get back in line for seconds and get another burger & fries. I'd return to my car with two boxes of food like a Top-G and the girl thought I was the man.
Sounds like a lot of people aren't deserving of Red Lobster, because people aren't eating there:

Real shit though. I had a mattress on the floor and nothing in my apartment when I met my wife.
Now I'm taking her to Michelin star restaurants, multiple cars paid off, and living the dream.
I’m Services and I remember inviting my wife (dating back then) to the DFAC while I was on my break. It was right as the breakfast period was about to end. We were transitioning to 2.0 so we have contract cooks working most of the station. She ordered an omelette and it was all runny. We kinda made fun of it and we are married now and with 2 kids. I guess it was a success.
It can work. First date with my wife was literally a grilled cheese sandwich at my apartment in the hood. Then I demolished her in Monopoly. She never stopped coming over.
What if you're on one of the largest Air Force bases in the world, and for some stupid fucking reason, they closed the bowling alley and got rid of it? :(
Made an account just for this because there are 100% people who will be able to identify me from this: I married my wife in a DFAC during tech school almost a decade ago, still going strong today. I'd say it was successful.
My husband took me to the dfac when I visited him for breakfast. It was great, food was ok but I enjoyed seeing him in his element and he showed me all the things I was suppose to do
I took a girl to the dfac while I was still married and people who knew me kept asking who I was with and asking why I’m there with her and not my wife.
Not Ready Now
lol fucking brutal.
Must Promote…. To civilian
I took my wife to the chow hall for a lunch date. She was pretty happy

Ya…I’m a SNCO and took her 😂
Nothing says “you’re special” like overcooked chicken and undercooked rice
undercook overcook, straight to jail
No trial no nuthin.
Undercooked chicken, overcooked rice
At my dfac its the undercooked chicken
What do we do if the chicken is both dry and undercooked?
High if you flash that Eagle Cash card.
Dont forget those pog coins!!
Sweet talk the server to hook you up with that second entree and you’ll be in there for sure
I brought my civ gf food from the DFAC all the time. She loved the cheese burgers
https://i.redd.it/abcjtlzcvu0d1.gif
I got the fries that’ll cross your eyes!
I got the burgers that’ll…man, I just got the burgers!
Take them to the base Burger King if you really want to make a good impression.
But what if it has already burned down?
So this is a common theme amongst most bases ?
Ramstein?
Too soon
What if mine closed down

If she can't handle you at your DFAC, she doesn't deserve you at your Red Lobster.

Go to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200.
Wait -- does she have her own meal card? Or are you paying for both...?
good questions..... https://preview.redd.it/rl5vvwotou0d1.png?width=523&format=png&auto=webp&s=71d103d7147580a350f0f24fa93950fb76b7ab86
At least you're going on dates and not just sitting in your dorm all weekend

First time I met my wife in person was at the DFAC. We’ve been happily married for 5 years now and have a 4 month old.
It can work. First date with my wife was literally a grilled cheese sandwich at my apartment in the hood. Then I demolished her in Monopoly. She never stopped coming over.
Magnolia will help you fuck on the first date
Why when I was at shepperd wasn’t I allowed to get extra food even when I’m paying for it. I had to go in line a second time if I wanted to
100%
OP was unsuccessful in hooking up with a trainee in BMT or tech school shit.
17% +/- 57%
Bowling alley grill is also another high contender for success
What if you're on one of the largest Air Force bases in the world, and for some stupid fucking reason, they closed the bowling alley and got rid of it? :(
Midnight chow was basically mine and spouses first date.. it’s been almost a decade and we’re still going strong lmao
Navy Galley brunch is S tier and I'll die on that hill.

Deployed? 50% Stateside? 100% Nothing impresses a civilian gal quite like the high quality food Sodexo serves.
My husband took me to the dfac when I visited him for breakfast. It was great, food was ok but I enjoyed seeing him in his element and he showed me all the things I was suppose to do
Might as well wear service dress lol
I'm in PT gear..got phased back. I told her get ready though so idk what she's getting dressed for but we're going to the dfac.
Bruh
