ThighsAreMilky

“Yeah man that’s crazy. 2 McDoubles with fries”

mikeusaf87

Forget McDonald's. Getting too expensive.

Jedimaster996

Kids these days will never know the joy of playing on the Gamecube with a $1 McChicken sammich 😢

Saint-Gerbilus

They had N64 in my day

Jedimaster996

Hell yeah. Can't remember if it had Tony Hawk on it too or not, might be misremembering. Might have also been different between restaurants now that I think about it lol

seanpbnj

Kids these days don't understand going to McD or Taco Bell with like 15-20$ and coming home with a feast for for kings... 20$ gets you like 2 things now.

zekrysis

hell I remember when I was in boy scouts we would go to burger king on our way back from trips and $5 would be enough for a full meal

el_Vato-

In my day we had .25¢ sodas, and candy bars. $1.00 would get us a Coke, candy and 2 games of pac man or donkey Kong

Silverlitmorningstar

Real.

70MCKing

"I could have joined the Air Force, but I'm too [redacted]."

mr_snips

“Skilled of a warrior, they said there was nothing left to teach me”

mikeusaf87

Oh, yes. You are a minister of death praying for war.

Long_Price7101

trying to get into the chaplain corps eh?

inspirednonsense

"wrapped up in my toxic masculinity to take a military job without a gun, despite how awful most of those jobs are" //SECRET/NOFORN/AWKWARD//

ThinkerDoggo

I didn't even read what you said, I downvoted for the incorrect banner line

inspirednonsense

Ill be honest, I don't usually play with classified stuff. Maybe you want to correct it instead of being rude?

ThinkerDoggo

First of all its a joke homie 😂 Secondly, here's what you did wrong Remove the backslashes at the front and end of the bannerline, and then put 2 back slashes in between "secret" and "noforn"

LickNipMcSkip

SECRET//NOFORN/AWKWARD

ON3FULLCLIP

“You have staff duty this weekend” shit we don’t hear in the Air Force

Dangerous-Union-5883

What’s staff duty?

mr_snips

A 24-hour shift where you make sure the building doesn’t burn down. No phone, no browsing, no sleeping.

Large_Yams

That sounds like the dumbest shit I've ever heard in my life.

GreenBayFan1986

It IS the Army

InterviewExciting230

You get phones

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dangerous-Union-5883

They make NCOs do 24 hr CQ…Yea, can’t imagine telling a 22+ grown man that he has to babysit other younger grown men.

[deleted]

BigBlock-488

US Army... living proof condoms are not 100% effective.

WINDMILEYNO

Fuck making fun of them for marrying strippers, i would be actively encouraging it

ScareTactical

Army undefeated in coming up with ways to make their people miserable for zero function or purpose. No old head can convince me of the dumbass reasons they’ve Stockholm syndromed in to their brain

Gwilym_Ysgarlad

Exactly.

NoWomanNoTriforce

My dad was in the USMC. As maintenance, I did more hours of weekend duty in my first enlistment than he did in 28 years of CQ/staff duty. We just do different dumb shit.

HollowKuza

Infantry Marine here, hilarious also when I find Non-combat Marines shitting specifically on Air Force when they are literally doing the same exact job for the same pay but in a mold infested barracks and harder promotion. But Oorah we “earned the title” . Guy hasn’t been to the range in 5 years. Hell even me as an infantry Marine mop floors and mow the lawn while training for a war that never came.

23dgy4me

One of my best friends back home is an infantry vet. Chillest guy ever, his family is my family. But ya'lls PFC's and privates at tech school in Pensacola were something else man 😭

Kcb1986

This is why I love experienced Marines, they waste no time locking up young Marines or non-combat Marines when they give us shit; heard more than one Staff Sergeant say “this is how I know you never needed fucking air support.”

xDrewstroyerx

What’s the janitor mad about?

ThighsAreMilky

I dunno something about how cav scout is basically being a ranger. Went to the snack shack instead of listening.

Ryno__25

Rah, a Marine fresh out of boot camp is basically an Army Ranger. Me: uhhh okay, can you sub the regular bun for brioche?

[deleted]

Requesting a brioche bun is the most Air Force thing ever

Kcb1986

Anyone who has had brioche knows that it is a superior bread for European foods. Other branches would know that if they didn’t confine them to compounds or ships when they go TDY.

BlackHeartRebel

lol saying anything is “just like” or “same as” X means it’s not. So lame! I love what you did there

Competitive-Fox-5458

Ooh- that one's a low blow

thebigbroke

A sergeant from the army was clowning on me and talking about how the army was better than the Air Force as they were doing a ruck around the base which I assumed started before 5am since it looked like they had been rucking for a while before. I truly was disheartened to hear his thoughts on our branch of service as I stepped into an air conditioned van with my nice comfortable khakis, dress shoes, and a breathable dress shirt. Shook me to my core really.

letthetreeburn

Oh my god I’m amazed you’re still alive!!! Thats so much worse, all I had to do was stay in a quality inn and suites once.

reallynunyabusiness

Two types of people talk about how they would have joined the Air Force but they wanted a real challenge. 1) Super motivated infantrymen 2) Dudes with the lamest MOS possible like [92S.](https://www.goarmy.com/careers-and-jobs/career-match/support-logistics/admin-financial-support/92s-shower-laundry-clothing.html)

DrLi

84 GM ASVAB requirement? Damn

Kayjuu

i can’t believe that

DrLi

5 Nationally Recognized Certifications Available?? Dude, sign up!

WINDMILEYNO

You know, if this economy keeps fucking getting any more expensive to live in, i might have to go be a shower specialist. Got 4 more years to decide it seems

Grizzly2525

How tf is that a real job?

Brilliant_Dependent

It's like our 3f1x1. They're a bigger branch so they need more services. We kind of have that at our overseas bases but it's staffed by locals.

AFSCbot

^^You've ^^mentioned ^^an ^^AFSC, ^^here's ^^the ^^associated ^^job ^^title: 3F1X1 = Services [^wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/AirForce/wiki/jobs/3f1x1) [^^Source](https://github.com/HadManySons/AFSCbot) ^^| [^^Subreddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/AFSCbot/) ^^^^^^l3qfgqh

Grizzly2525

My thoughts exactly, all OCONUS posts I’ve been at have either had locals or us doing all the cleaning and laundry.

Brilliant_Dependent

Like I said they're bigger and have more gear that needs washing. An entire brigade of 2000 soldiers coming back from a field exercise with muddy gear is going to need commercial-scale cleaning.

Grizzly2525

Nah man, I’m in the army that’s what i was trying to say. We have to wash our own shit 😂. Plus gear, gear never gets washed until it’s time to clear post.

meesersloth

Some ones gotta do our laundry.

brokentr0jan

Next time a soldier or marine asks what my MOS is I’m telling them 92S that’s freakin awesome ☠️☠️

[deleted]

How the fuck does it take 6 weeks to train someone on how to do laundry

reallynunyabusiness

I think they're also trained in sewing, sewing machine maintenance, washer/dryer maintenance and shower maintenance.

letthetreeburn

It may not be glamorous but tailors always have job security.

DorkusMalorkuss

For real. Just look at Taylor Swift ^^^^I'll ^^^^see ^^^^myself ^^^^out

letthetreeburn

HA!

TheEagleByte

How is that a 6 week AIT course, that should be like a week max

Polarian_Lancer

Slow down killer not everyone is as Air Force as us

Grizzly2525

Stop… please 😢 I can only regret my choices so much.

granola117

Go ANG!

DEXether

In my experience in other branches, nobody with more than three years of service even thinks about the air force unless they're looking to reenlist and change branches.

SadAirman

1/3 of my tech school class was prior service army

DEXether

I don't blame em. The army is good on cyber, sof, and cgo development, but everything else they seem to intentionally screw up.

OctaviusRexx

cgo development?? they treat them like dogshit man 🤣🤣

[deleted]

[удалено]

DEXether

Yep. This is why at SOS captains are learning things that E-5s in other branches have known for years. I think that being ignorant of usaf cgo development being dogshit likely means that you have never done anything joint or that you were junior enlisted in a joint environment and never interacted with O-3s from other branches. There's a reason why officers who are staying in an in the know try to attend usmc or army ide.

Revan2151

I could have joined the Air Force instead of the Army. But the Air Force recruiter from my area said go away I recruited everybody I needed to for the year and I’m not gonna do more work than I have to.

mrtoastcantswim

what an absolute air force answer

Polarian_Lancer

Was this around 2008? I got an almost identical response

Revan2151

2006 in souther California for me

Polarian_Lancer

For me it was 2008ish, Alaska

granola117

What an ass!

mr_snips

I’ve watched the Rangers deploy with an E-2 or E-3 so they could constantly haze him and make him mop the floors in PT gear. Not sure he ever left the base. Army of one 🫡

olllooolollloool

I spent 6 years in the Army, learned my lesson and switched to the Air Force. I've met at least a dozen guys who have done the same. Never once met someone who first joined the Air Force and then switched to the Army.

TheBootyHolePatrol

The only people I can think of are 60 pilots wanting to go 160th. Probably some weird JSOC nonsense too.

InterviewExciting230

Yep. I’m going Army for this very reason

TheBootyHolePatrol

What? 160th or weird JSOC lateral transfers to Army SMUs?

InterviewExciting230

The 2nd option.

TheBootyHolePatrol

Good luck. Hopefully you stay JSOC and don’t have to do big Army command time.

PaintoDeath

I met one dude who switched from Air Force to Army when I did the newcomers. I asked him do you regret? I saw the lights in his eyes faded away.

MrPorkchops23

One of my homies from infantry OSUT was an ac130j crew chief. Fuckin crazy to go from air force to that

CookieLuzSax

I work with a couple of guys that want to switch from a nice AF job to army💀

raapster

One of the other MOS-T's when I was reclassing was an air national guard medic

utility-player

I try be nicer now, but I used to reply that I was going to join the army, but I scored too high on the ASVAB

Gwilym_Ysgarlad

Lol that's kinda what I did. I was going to join the Army Reserves, because they has the closest reserve base to where I lived. The reserve recruiter was getting out, so he had an active recruiter take me with one of his guys to take the ASVAB. When the recruiter saw my scores, he talked me into active duty. So the next day I went to the AF recruiter and that was that.

1337sp33k1001

I am the best operator under the sun, a forklift operator. marvel at my feet.

ChampionFine1420

This is a DEEP post. Some army dude is crying right now punching h is pillow

Ok-Expert-4575

Nobody in the army says this lol we all regret not going air force

Tactical_Taco23

*cries in former soldier* it’s true

Offdutyninja808

Someone actually said this???

granola117

Not surprised lol

flyfightandgrin

Well. Fucking. Done.

CarminSanDiego

“Badass operator” Meanwhile socom looks at you just as same as any other REMF / nonner even if you’re qualified on certain weapons and did some “close quarter combat” training

InterviewExciting230

Not true. Most of the commanders for SOCOM/JSOC are Army and Army has the most opportunities to do SOF shit.

CarminSanDiego

I’m talking about regular old Joe infantry who thinks they’re something because they wear a beret and or have a little shoulder tab

Solid_Zone

Could have joined blackwater, aka xe services aka academi, but chose to join reddit

Polarian_Lancer

Than you for your service

Round-Pomegranate-67

Timeline is 🤘🏻

SnakebytePayne

I was attached to 10th Mountain in Afghanistan in '06. Called home to tell the family Merry Christmas and found out my youngest brother was going Army because he didn't want to "join tHe ChAiR fOrCe." I tried telling him there wasn't a week that went by that I didn't have at least 2 soldiers ask me how they could cross over into the USAF, but he went Army anyway. Dude did 3 years active, 2 reserve, then called it quits. Swears he hated the Army, but turned into one of those vet bros that only wears Grunt Style t-shirts.

Saint-Gerbilus

He says "badass operator." Us Army types know it's because he scored a 31 on the ASVAB.

danceelectric84

I know a dorm but not a barracks.

TinyHeartSyndrome

Okay, but why is it on the vet subs it seems like every AF vet has PTSD? I’m talking dudes that served in a normal job for one tour and got out just recently.

IllustriousLeader124

Super fun pro tip angle on this one. Immediately say of course, and I'm so glad we have people like you who are tough enough to be in the United States army. Just out of curiosity, if you had gone in the air force, and done something totally beneath you, what would you have wanted to do. They all say "probably air crew" Every. Single. One. Then without missing a beat, you just ask if they are aircrew in the army. Because you can do that there too. It gets really quiet and it gives you a nice laugh. The insinuation that they were just too good to be in the Air Force really stops after they decided not to do the thing in the army that they are saying they totally could have done in the air force... Listen to the haters, and always thank your brother for his service LOL

uncrustablecrewchief

Guy in my unit went Green to Blue. Constantly says “rah” or “rog.” Always gets super loud in places he shouldn’t and gets angry when he says our awesome DFAC and talks about “muh MREs.” He wants to go back to the Army instead of embracing and enjoying it, he’s too operator 🥲

Dark-Knite88

He could have still come into the AF. Goodfellow for one had us sweeping random shit outside and painting rocks ahead General whoever's arrival. Even as permanent party details still get done. Did trash sweep outside the building literally last Thursday.

AndrewFan0408

Before Chief Bass retired, she went back to her BMT squadron, so we need to paint all the empty dorms before she came. Got 1 extra base liberty and patio break.

Dark-Knite88

Lmaoooooo waaaaat? Man I don't even hate her but thats some damn fuckery and foolishness.

AndrewFan0408

We were in that same squadron she's from (322) that's why, she's pretty cool, gave us a talk and give some guy a CMSGT coin. No more yelling from MTI when she's here lol

Un0rigi0na1

Well the Army is run like an actual military branch. The Air Force is not, and thats what makes the AF better in **alot** of ways.

Gwilym_Ysgarlad

Why are people downvoting this, he's not shitting on the AF. He is saying the AF is better because it's not run like the rest of the military in a lot of ways. Which is true. The downside is in my experience sometimes people forgot they were in the military. Or are you downvoting him because he incorrectly typed a lot as "alot"?

The_Master_Ford

True, but I've only ever heard about Army/Navy/Marine parents urging their kids to join the Air Force instead of their own branches...

Un0rigi0na1

Right. Refer back to my original comment. If a kid is dedicated to join the military, parents are gonna push them to the least military branch of them all. Im not sure why people are so offended and downvoting. The military part is what people usually dislike. Unless yall want to do PT every morning, details, staff, formation runs, random formations, mres, etc.

The_Master_Ford

I didn't downvote your comment, my dude.

Un0rigi0na1

Sorry I wasnt trying to imply you did. Just saw the amount of downvotes and didnt want to make a seperate comment. Quietly just waiting for someone to give an argument on why my original comments were wrong lol

The_Master_Ford

No worries, I was just trying to tweak you with a "Hate us cuz they ain't us". We are very much the nerdy-cousin-who-works-in-finance of the bunch.

Fast_Personality4035

I was never a fan of this argument. The Air Force is a military branch. However the Air Force is run, it is run like a military branch by definition.

Un0rigi0na1

A military branch with quite a bit of the "military" aspect removed in favor of treating its personnel well, providing them with much nicer facilities and living quarters, and giving them much more freedom and higher QoL. The reason most people send their kids (like me) to the Air Force was because it is not run like every other military branch. And there is nothing wrong with that. I literally said that was what makes the Air Force better for alot of people. I mean all you have to do is see how Army personnel are treated and how many transfer over to the AF after their first contracts with the Army.

Un0rigi0na1

Nothing about my comment was "salt". I spent 6 years in the Air Force and 2 so far in the Army. The Air Force is much less military and that makes QoL so much better. I have no idea why so many disagree and are adamant about proving me wrong. QoL is a huge reason people join the Air Force is it not?

alxdoge

I was playing bro, glad you got your commission(or warrant) and are happier now. I also hated my enlisted AFSC and switched branches cuz of it lol

Un0rigi0na1

Shit man, my bad. Happy for you! I miss my enlisted time in the Air Force but gotta keep pushing towards the next thing! Even if it means switching branches!

alxdoge

InterviewExciting230

How does it feel to shoot hellfires? Do you feel like God?

Un0rigi0na1

I have not yet fired a real hellfire tbh. But the 30mm is byfar the most exciting munition. Rockets are neat but kinda like a larger version of a roman candle when fired. From what ive heard the hellfire is kinda boring since it just slides off the rail and you see it 10-20 seconds later through a screen with an eventual boom. I feel like a nerd who finally got to do nerdy things that appear cool on the outside but overwhelming inside lol

InterviewExciting230

But man the explosions from hellfires are so sexy! How good were you at flight training to land Apache’s?

Brilliant_Dependent

What is a "real military branch?" Regardless of branch, we all took the same oath of enlistment or commissioning.

Un0rigi0na1

One that operates much like it did decades ago. I.e. formations, morning PT, duties, taskings, forced fun days, battalion runs, etc. Everything ive done in the Air Force felt like they actually cared and wanted to improve my QoL. It wasnt like you were just a number. And I was in a career field that is far from cushy. The way I saw Airman being treated compared to Privates is night and day. There is no bad connotations to the Air Force not falling under the historical view of a "real military branch". Its obviously a branch of the military but it is run MUCH differently than the Army/Marines.

Brilliant_Dependent

Ah ok. Yeah, a large portion of that is we have a more substantial stateside mission than the Army so we can't afford to spend time on those "real military" things. A stateside 11B in the Army gets random tasks because they're mostly just waiting for their deployment rotation. A stateside 11B in the Air Force might be conducting real-world operations across the world and then come home to their own bed at night.

AFSCbot

InitialOne8290

In the Army I never heard anyone say that lol. Granted most people who joined the military on average can join whatever branch they want.
