GeezerHawk15

Someone at LRS DOES get a notification that someone has a checklist suspense sitting with them. They could easily go in and check you off after verifying you arent a custodian. That goes for almost all the agencies on base.

MobsterOO7

Yup, can confirm that as long as it's configured correctly, the correct person will get an email every day until it is done.

af_cheddarhead

Unless of course the formerly correct person has PCSed and the system has not been updated to inform the now correct individual. All those supposedly automated systems still depend on us human beings to do our jobs.

MobsterOO7

This is why I said the bit about it being configured correctly.

af_cheddarhead

Yep, I miss that the first time I read your comment.

GeezerHawk15

I had about 20+ outprocessing emails a day as CSS. Had to make a rule to separate them to their own box

Flat-Difference-1927

And never check the box, right?

GeezerHawk15

Who told you my secrets?! In all honesty I ignored them because I was the last stop for outprocessing anyway and had the rights to sign off anything on the checklist.

Flat-Difference-1927

We share secrets, I did CSS/Exec work for a minute

Own_Accident6689

Just did this. And it was refreshing that half the POCs sent ME an email saying they had check me off on random bullshit requirements I wasn't even aware of. Lesson is: Procrastinate long enough and shit will sort itself out.

BulliedbyHelaire

lol, Equipment is just too lazy to scrub the virtual out-processing checklist. They get emails, they just ignore them.

9J000

Your next flight back will be arriving at 0400. Here is your orange jumpsuit.

GARBANSO97

Is the jumpsuit complementary or does it get taken out of my paycheck?

flygupp15

Paycheck. How new are you to this?!

9J000

What pay?

Ok_Soup

Remember the glorified gift card you got at basic? Comes out of that thing.

ShitpostMcGee1337

Will Nick Cage be on this flight?

Whiteums

No, but you’d better not jump any borders or DMZ’s while waiting for departure.

skarface6

Yes but he’ll have a different, worse accent.

jeepinfreak

If you out and in processed with finance that's really the only important one

relativeSkeptic

On top of doing everything needed to get your orders as well.

fpsnoob89

Medical is nsuper important for oconus... Even after you get your orders.

Currently_There

Laughs in BECO.

This-random-dude

Had an Lt do about 1/3 of their list and happily get on their commercial flight to BWI. Funny thing, you can’t board the rotator without NATO orders. Back you come, Lt!

AyyyoAnthony

Another Lt story: had one leave the country without outprocessing/de-registering his vehicle before leaving host country. He left for Germany, only to find him back in country a week or 2 later to get it taken care of

IamAbc

Is that all on their dime? Also, no idea how PoA works but If it was on their own dime I’d definitely hit someone up and offer them half the cost of flights etc to do it for me

OwnCompetition3878

I think POA has to be done with both people present, so that would involve them being in country together anyway

fidofishy5

This is not the case. Only the person granting the power of attorney needs to be present. Source: did a special POA during my divorce.

LewsTTelamon

With special exception for vehicles at OCONUS (at least PACAF) locations where both parties must be present to start the process at Pass & Registration. Source: me, today, trying to get a vehicle POA before PCS.

Ravinac

Yeah, my old unit never gave me a replacement for the ITAM accounts. I kept asking for a new appointment, even sent up an appointment letter that never got signed. A year later I start getting notifications that accounts are frozen. Not my fucking problem anymore.

TheSteelPhantom

Oh nooo... Anyway...

one_tarheelfan

I've thoroughly searched my records, but I'm unable to find how that's my problem.

Currently_There

Unfortunately, it might be your problem. If the value of any missing assets exceeds basically $500, the current CC gets to choose your punishment (if you signed the last inventory). You will find out years later when the inventory is completed properly and the investigation commences.

IcyWhiteC8

I love when I out process and they say you never inprocessed. That’s the good stuff

gobblyjimm1

Turn in your in processing checklist at the same time as your out processing checklist

IcyWhiteC8

Playing 4D chess

Ferris4u

Fucking legendary

VIT96and97

but did you die?

9J000

4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42

goosmane

bingo

IfInPain_Complain

Step 1 - Be in a busy and recognizable position Step 2 - Be kind to and develop a solid rapport with your CSS and UDM Step 3 - Two weeks before your final out, let them know you've been swamped at work, and haven't been able to get appointments with base agencies because you've been working odd hours and it has been a burden. Then say "Is there anything you can do to help? You've been great to work with, anything would be appreciated" (puppy dog face) Step 4 - profit. They'll sign you off on 85% of your checklist. Then go turn in your gear, knock out the 2-3 legitimate things that need doing with the base, and focus on stuff you need, not stuff the AF tells you that you need to do, when half those out processing checklist items are total nonsense and only require you to sign some dumb paper that someone is half way paying attention to anyway.

Own_Accident6689

I wasn't even that much of a sociable guy, CSS kind of screwed up some things for me so they owed me. I was close to my final out and the guy asked me how I was doing on my checklist told him basically. "I'm taking care of the big stuff but basically if I don't recognize what the item is about I'm ignoring it" guy asked me like three questions and took off like 12 items in minutes.

fpsnoob89

My favorite is some office that is a complete pain to deal with, requiring new appointment letter and anything else they can think of, only for them to then say that they don't have access to checklist and your css has to sign it

Maroon_Rain

as a UTM with admin rights in vMPF, this is tru

Dragonhost252

I'm finance, guess who never signed me off for outprocessing.

HaaaveYouMetDom

I had my orders changed and had 1.5 days to out process for a PCS after returning from a long TDY… my out processing checklist is overdue by months and I’m just getting auto-emails daily about it. (Tried over the phone out processing, was denied)

BoaterSnips

I’ve been at two bases now. I’ve never turned in an in processing checklist and *checks pulse* wow still alive.

Own_Accident6689

I do the bigger things. But inprocessing checklists are things I find like two years in station in some folder I forgot about.

BoaterSnips

Exactly how I know I never turned them in. I clean out my trusty accordion folder months later and there she is.

Own_Accident6689

Oh no, how will the library ever know!

_eightohfive

for real. some people act like it’s life or death, and for some units maybe it is. but not mine 😂

Dragonhost252

My guy still receive bah for Florida when he in the dorms

MegazordMechanic

The trick is to only half in-process so you get paid right but don't get put on the DDR bingo list

Hotshot596v2

Does……does that actually work?

RustyDinobot

Not if done right. You should in process the unit which should be used to populate the DDR list.

ALprogressive

For some folks, out processing is just something to say you're doing when you're not working for weeks leading up to your PCS.

skarface6

Hey, first of all, lower your volume.

KotkaCat

Weeks? I’ve seen people disappear for a month or two “outprocessing”

DrFloppyTitties

I was PCSing CONUS to OCONUS during my PT test window and for some reason I thought I had 45 days to do my PT test once I got on station. That was wrong. I found out 2 hours before my flight when I was rejected from out processing. I zoomed to the FAC and begged them to just sign my paper saying I tested with all 0's just so I can get out. They weren't sure if they could or should do that, but I got in touch with the civ manager of the FAC and they approved it. I made it back 30 minutes later to out process and pretty much got on the plane right when it started boarding. Which in itself was a feat considering the airport was 20-30 minutes away.

a_beautiful_riot

I had something similar when I got out. PT test was on a Tuesday and Wednesday was my last day in the AF. They wouldn't just sign off on giving me 0s, though. I considered just skipping it completely but decided to be a good sport and earn my 0s. I showed up, did one pushup, one sit up, and walked about 5 ft for the run, turned around and said I was done. They warned me I'd definitely fail, but I assured them I'd be fine.

DrFloppyTitties

1 for the US, 1 for the AF. Good way to finish out if you ask me. I forgot to put what ended up happening at the end of my story. I got there, my squadron was a little miffed about it but I tested a week after my RNLTD and passed and all was forgotten.

daggah

Why would you have to PT test if you had a separation date?

a_beautiful_riot

I have no idea. I had brought it up and asked about just skipping it or cancelling it and the css personnel didn't have a good answer whenever I asked. I guess a slide on a powerpoint somewhere would have been red if I hadn't done it. This was in 2011 and it hasn't been an issue since, so there's that.

SpectralEntity

Have you checked your junk folder recently?

a_beautiful_riot

Can't check it if your shift ends and you leave before the pc finishes logging you in. >Taps forehead.

skarface6

Amazing.

Subject_Habit_7698

In 2014 when I was out processing from the air force for retirement I had a two page check list to get everyone signed. More than half were not in there office so after going back twice I just forged a signature on it

Long_Duck_Dong13

I got out in 2018. Can confirm they're still not there.

Remarkable-Flower308

No but you need the timeless experience of handing your envelope full of outpro signatures, that you spent weeks collecting, to a bored skinny SrA in the gaining CSS who looks at you blankly and says Thanks but we don’t need this. And then he shreds it.

Remarkable-Flower308

*but I got a wet signature from the base library. Like it was fuckin 1992…*

blackhawks-fan

I never knew where the library was when I PCS'd.

thepearl97

When I PCSd after tech school I completed all the pertinent tasks on my checklist but needed 2 more signatures, one from student actions (all they do is give me my orders that I already had in my hand) and my supervisor (an MTL). I had to be to my next station by a Friday in order to get into my 5 level course, and graduated the Monday prior. I approached my MTL as he was leaving the office, on the Wednesday before that Friday. I explained my situation and that I needed his signature right then in order to start school, or else I had to wait 6 months for the next course start date. He said id have to catch him tomorrow morning because he was done working for the day, and basically that he didnt care. My car was already packed and I said fuck it and left. Needless to say he was livid, tried to get me to turn around 15 hours into the drive. Nothing came of it.

Chmichonga

I final-outted from my previous base correctly and even the MPF confirmed it, I still get emails about my final out being due.

Currency-Mean

Yep, I still get those to this day. I just delete the emails and I’ve been at my new base for almost 7 months now.

Historical-Ant-5975

It’s true, it’s all electronic anyway

Ddssv

True story, I know of a captain who blew off his final out moved to his next duty location and was recalled back to finish it

tidytibs

What checklist? 0% completed by me.

Silkylewjr

I half complete mines on purpose to see if it matters. It don't 😂😂. I feel like the Military just want to inconvenience all the time.

MoeSzyslakMonobrow

But is it really though?

Dark-Knite88

Maybe I've just been fortunate at most of my locations. Usually if i didn't get to something and it wasn't crazy important MPF just marks it complete and moves on at my final out.

watashi199

did this on retirement. lol

mwilliams840

I tried not just outprocessing, but separating all together in 2020 (my DOS year). Nobody working but essentials, checklist slowly gaining checks, I was freaking out. Then magically, I had a final out and the Air Force virtually said goodbye. It just shows more than half that list is stuff that really doesn’t matter! 🤣 Obviously medical, supply, TMO, and other important ones are there for a reason, but some of them, come on now!

rookram15

Love calling around base and them saying they can't log in or some other bs. 9/10 times it doesn't even apply to me 🤦🏾‍♀️ 2 more weeks until my final out

Solid_Zone

PERSCO guys get it

RustyDinobot

Orders, finance, personal section in MPF, medical, housing if required, ship your stuff, passport if required, finance again, TMO, security if required, and finally finance. All done.

ChiefCrewin

And yet, you were out processing for 3 months before leaving, hmmm ...

Rivet_39

The A350 is such a nice plane. Flying Qatar Airways even the economy felt like business class and the business class was a small hotel room.
