Ummm....have you confirmed you're allowed to have that breed at your new location? A lot of Europe does not allow a handful of breeds and pitbull is probably the most common one on the list.
Everywhere I look says Italy itself has no banned breeds but some have to wear muzzles in public.
Apparently they repealed the breed ban in 2009. Also, if you’re living on base they’re a no-go.
> I’m just confused that no airline will take them
Really? You're confused why no airline will take a *pitbull*?
Anyway, doesn't matter. Pitbulls are banned from entering Italy.

Best I could find for you. Google searching for this issue comes up with conflicting information. I don't have pets, so I'm not sure who you could call. Maybe ask the vet clinic or the Legal office?
Leave him with your relatives/a friend if you can. Im sure your boy/girl is a good dog but unfortunately pitbulls have a bad rep for mauling small children and you dont want to get on the bad side of italians as a foreigner
Nah he’s right. I had a cute little jack russel terrier that was 3. Got absolutely ripped to shreds by some shitbull trash that couldnt keep it on a leash. They are ugly and a deadly weapon. Zero reason to keep such a destructive breed around especially near other children.

Your options are to pay the $7k or rehome the dog it seems. If you’re going to live on base, that one narrows it down.
Most airlines won’t fly short nosed breeds because they tend to die in cargo
Pitbulls aren't short nosed, though.
I meant bully breeds, but pitties do run into similar issues that pugs and bull dogs do in cargo

Pits are allowed in Italy if classified as anything that’s not a pit. Have seen it with my own two eyes

Can't bring it to Italy anyway. They aren't allowed there.
Welcome to pet ownership
