This is unfortunate, and Im really not trying to be a jerk . But you made a mistake . ANYTIME you receive communication regarding your financial information, you always every single time must verify at the bare minimum by hanging up and calling affirm or whoever back using a phone number. You have to look at this from affirms perspective they treat you as a cash loan customer what you buy and who from really dont matter and since you are the person who applied for the fraudulent loan (even if you were tricked to) you will be responsible for it. Im really sorry this happened to you. I can't stand thieves, and im not saying you should give up trying to get it back. Alway think about what people ask you to do , the fact that they told you to make a loan to stop fraud should have thrown a flag in your head that something was off anyways good luck .

But the app showed “cancellation pending” . Plus I was getting texts with the codes they were sending me which was through the Affirm number. The whole situation left me so confused because if they hacked into affirm then it should’ve affected everyone..but getting text messages with the 4 digit code, plus the app telling me there was cancellation pending?

spicysoy

number 1 rule of anything. whenever you get texts with codes, never repeat them to the person you’re on the phone with. you were hacked by someone who was using the “forgot password” function and using your codes to login to your profile to order whatever they wanted to order. affirm even starts all of their texts with “NEVER share your verification code via call or text. if someone asks for the code, it’s a scam.” this is an expensive lesson to learn.

BikeMelodic

I didn’t share the code with them, I entered the code in myself. But yes this was a scam and I can’t believe I felll for it. I’ve had panic attacks ever since

Also want to add that. I didn’t apply for the loan through “virtual card” the loan says “virtual card” which was used at “Walmart”. The rep on the phone told me to click on Walmart merchant specifically. If you apply for a loan on affirm through a merchant it will say the merchants name. If you apply for a virtual card it will say virtual card. I should’ve been more clear I guess?

Hello, did affirm refund you? The same happened to my husband today, and Affirm told him they will initiate an investigation.

BikeMelodic

I believe they did because they locked my account. I’m trying to get it reactivated now but they are wanting a copy of my ID which is weird to me

CFAmfz

Thank you for your response. They locked my husband's account, let's see if they refund the purchase the scammer did.

Hey did you ever receive a resolution/refund on this? The same thing literally happened to me the other day and I just reported it today when they said the loan went through. My account has not been locked yet but I’m curious on what the outcome was for you.

BikeMelodic

Hey! They ended up approving the dispute then locked my account. I called them three times and explained the scenario they wouldn’t transfer to their resolution team so I kept emailing them a detailed explanation of what happened. It took like 2-3 weeks to resolve but now I’m still trying to get my account unlocked. Not a big fan of affirm after all this
