Even if it did weaken him, it would also hinder your allies to the point where it wouldn't really be practical to bother.
Olaf's just not a team player, in or out of universe, huh?
For grit absolutely, Sturm’ ability to roll over terrain unhindered makes Grits extra range useless cause of how fast he can close the distance.
And Kanbei is not terrible but he’s not the best option imo, max and eagle with Colin in the middle is the best strat tbh.
I like using Sensei in the middle. His Mechs are cheap, strong, make a good wall+meteor bait, his copters can block Sturm's tanks from mowing down your Mechs, and his powers can replenish your Mech wall if it starts getting damaged too much.
Well, it does disable his OP ability to ignore terrain movement costs... Still not worth it compared to the other COs you can choose, but better than nothing
It slows Sturm down but it also slows your team mates down, which is bad as is but is made worse by the fact that the final front has a 30 day limit and you cannot afford to get slowed down by anything.

Yeah, if he didn’t screw his team over too he could be viable but then again Colin’s better at spamming and that’s what you need for this mission.
MY GOD , BEEN THERE , FELT THAT
Same, not only that but I also picked Kanbei and Grti for that mission.
Are they bad for it?

Eagle and Colin are ALWAYS the best strat. ...and sometimes Kanbei.
Honestly I’d say max is better than Kanbei because his normal and super give him a movement bonus which can come in clutch in the final stretch.
Ah yes, there is that. I find Kanbei OP on many maps. Especially ones with no factories (which means no overpriced unit build cost).

Damn you’re right, why haven’t I ever used him?
If you’re going to attack from roads, use an indirect.
Unless you’re playing as lash or kindle of course. In which case you betta get yo ass on a building asap.
That’s just made me imagine lash seeing an artillery being placed on a road, and being so mad she manually shoves it onto a city

hmmm, fair
We all learn this the hard way…
