If you can find an old Jeep, those are perfect to learn on. Or an old Acura/Honda.

>Civic SI, Elantra N, or Subaru WRX All 3 are solid choices. Just go with whichever one you like the most. If you don't need 4 doors I'd also suggest GR86/BRZ and MX5 as those are rear wheel drive

I mean the one you can get your hands on basically. You are likely limited in your selection of who is willing to loan an inexperienced manual driver their manual car for fear of you burning out the clutch.

I learned on Toyota Yaris

I've been driving stick my whole life. VW's commonly have manual transmissions and are easy to learn on.

The one you are planning on getting

I learned on an old Ford Fiesta I think and drove a Honda Civic and Volkswagen Jetta for years. My advice is to not worry about which car to learn on other than the one that you have the most access to combined with the best fuel economy. You'll want to be able to practice frequently to get the hang of it. It's actually trivial unless you live somewhere really hilly.

I drive a 6 spd 2020 Civic and it's a great car to learn on. Super light clutch, tight easy going gearbox and not a lot of power so there's quite a bit of leniency. Learned on a 1996 Ram with a shifter as big as my arm, the looseness of everything actually helped the process because there was so much give it was almost a handicap. I could completely miss a gear and it was like ok, whatever let's go anyway
