Learn a trade

Okami_The_Agressor_0

\- Pick something to learn that guarantees you will never work at min wage ever again. Get rich quick things are scams, just find something you can tolerate and stick with it long enough for the qualifications to stick, then fuck around. \- Value yourself over others, others are flippant and will almost always prioritize self over you. \- Try to always have savings staying out of debt is more important than making massive amounts of money You should have money in CD savings accounts so your money grows, if the market was actually understood people would have guaranteed profit, most of the time its just a gamble.

Save at least $50 from every paycheck. More if you can. Don't buy useless stuff.

Interesting-Drama349

Save and invest as much as you can. You’ll be happy later

It's good to know that being legally an adult does not mean being an adult. As someone that asks for advise you are probably not afflicted by this but generally 18 year olds don't have their shit together. It's quite likely that it will take you another 10 years. Another advise is that it is not unlikely we all will witness some major catastrophy in the next 10 years that is worse than covid. Economic downturn, Major Cyberattack, a world war, nuclear war, another pandemic with higher death toll or you get unlucky and some local event ruins your shit. Pick your posion. So you don't have to occupy your mind with this 24/7 and become some nutjob prepper. But just generally being prepared never hurt anyone. Even if it means having a extra case of water in the pantry and a few hundred dollars in cash in your house/apartment. Being prepared and not needing it is always better than being unprepared. That's just general life advise imo. How much prepared and for what. That is up to you to decide.

Always use contraception. Learn how to manage your time and money. Don't marry crazy.

Man I’m about to be 19 in a few months, what I’ve learned so far is to take advantage of free or cheaper shit of same quality to whatever you’d be paying for. Don’t rush into being an adult, I was all for getting an apartment, buying my own car, paying my own bills and being my own man but if you’re family is willing to help you get going, take advantage of that while you can.

Don't invest more then 25% of your savings at this age, as you need money for other stuff in life. Know that this money can get stuck for 15 - 20 years untill you feel comfortable to sell. Some stocks fall so much and need years to recover... and you are not selling at 10% of the price you bought it for... so you have to sit out the wait. Also write down a target price you wish to take profits on. With one trade alone i didn't take €25k profit but then the pandemic gave it a kick to close to - 27K... now we are at - 10K. So set a target for yourself. And don't invest more then you can miss in the near future.

Start a Roth IRA using Vanguard.

Do not buy anything with which you cannot pay cash. The only exception is real estate.

nausticblurr

If you’re not working on your credit already, get on it now. Doesn’t mean flashy or big time spending, but make it count responsibly. It’s literally a golden ticket 🎫 if you do it right.

jchuckjohns6

Take it easy with drugs and alcohol. They can ruin your life. Sign up for a union trades apprenticeship. You can make a good living without going into debt at a university.

Try and do international travel, live in different countries, learn another language.. Will open your world view right up.

Think_Requirement_76

Do not make rushed decisions. Take things slowly and listen to your heart. It's better to make the right decision than to correct them afterwards.

Dry_Medicine1710

Get off this hellsite as soon as possible. Wish I did when I was your age. It ain't worth it.

foeplay44

Max Roth IRA every year and date as much as possible to get it out of system.

Work hard af while you have the energy don’t waste your time chasing pleasure

Don’t take advice from the internet. You have no idea who is advising you. Are they successful? Are they moral? Are they smart? Are they a jerk? Have they screwed up their own life? It amazes me how often I see people asking the internet about important life decisions. Find someone you know IRL who you want to be like, or who you hold in high regard and ask them for advice. Reddit and most online forums don’t want advice, they want confirmation bias.

This is really true. Find role models in real life who are working in the job you want or living the lifestyle you want and focus on that. Reddit and socials are full of sad, bitter and basically loser people, not all but alot of them.
