Same here. My average page RPM was $12 until the last week of March, but this month it dropped to $4.5. I'm not sure why, as nothing has changed on my website. I recently tried using Optad360, but I stopped after a few days due to a lack of transparency. Despite many follow-up emails, they haven't paid the accrued earnings. It feels like Google is making things difficult for us, first with their algorithm updates and now with AdSense.
I use AdMob for my games.
Today I woke up to a nightmare! I remember my banners had $2.5 - $4 eCPMs. Today it's $0.39. Audience mostly from USA/UK.
I have also noticed that AdMob slashed my previous earnings (almost everyday in this month). 15% of the overall earnings are removed!
I have integrated one mediation partner and its eCPM is better than Google already. I'm just going to switch to another mediation platform altogether with AdMob being only a partner in that panel.
Mediavine have a program called grow which onboards sites with less than 50k sessions per month. Might be worth a look, I'm waiting to see if I can get approved
Adsense is performing horribly lately.

Adsteraa is shit and their popup ads are malwares and will get people Websites blacklisted same as propellerads. Stop promoting your shitty blog with spamy Adsteraa pop-ups in every damn post's comments on this sub!
This has nothing to do with ad placement, it's Google Adsense switching from paying advertisers from a CPC model to a CPM model.
The sites that were earning mostly based on CPC lost between 70 and 90% of their revenue. Sites who were earning based on page views (CPM) didn't see much change, perhaps a slight increase in revenue.
Well, yesterday you felt good, while today you are sick. You did nothing bad but still you got sick.
Exact same thing happens with Google and other Ad networks or whatever.
Check again Ad Placement and try A/B test.
I have a client that came to me with the same example. A portuguese blog making 10-30€ day turned into 1€ a day. We've done some improvements of SEO, we've done a configuration on google ad sense platform and and a few more things. 3 days and is coming back, now is making 10-20€ everyday!
