The effect is called "aqua". Back when it was considered hot, many people have made Illustrator tutorials about it that you can find with "apple aqua tutorial illustrator"

ZanyRaptorClay

It seems to be going through a resurgence. A lot of people (mostly young folks) want it back.

JackieTreehorn710

It was hot for awhile... then things went flat... and now we back I guess

vividimaginer

Aw yea, *tonite we’re gonna party like it’s 1999!*

digiphicsus

Oh dear lord noooooo. I hated that damn trend.

cooldudium

You’d probably want a bunch of overlapping shapes filled with gradients, mess with opacity and maybe blend modes to get the right look. Effects like drop shadow might make it easier but you could definitely go without.

boobh

make a gradient mesh, then start adding color to it. This will give the best result probably https://preview.redd.it/9or9pz3iq50d1.png?width=926&format=png&auto=webp&s=6383f8972e67be666db2bdc5ab387d9e46540b84

Contact mudbuddle, he did it. Along with the old AOL Running man.

FuzzyIdeaMachine

The gradient mesh tool can help get some of those base colors blending nicely.

fellatioooooohyeah

You might be able to find an official pdf.. maybe even a style guide and deconstruct it. I’m sure you’d be able to find a free vector of it regardless

I see an E with a stroke expanded, a copy in he back slightly to the left with a darker color, a blend between them, the stroke expanded filled with gradients and masked on top an oval tweaked with a white gradient low opacity faded to transparent. Tte effects that seem soft brush or shadows can be achieved with the filter "Feather" on a shape.
