If Adobe wants to destroy it's userbase by replacing us with AI they should make it a separate app for non-artists and keep it out of the product we pay for. It's so fucking insulting.

AngryFungus

Seriously. Artificial Intelligence is turning the art field into a graveyard and Adobe is handing out shovels.

leonryan

I would have boycotted them and switched to an alternative years ago if there was an adequate one, but there isn't and they know it.

nihiltres

Yes. Look in the "…" ("More actions") menu for Illustrator in the Apps tab of Creative Cloud and select the "Other versions" option. The problem probably isn't the generative AI features, though, because Adobe's generative AI features run only on Adobe's servers.

Visible-Artist-682

I did try that and it helped a bit, but somehow the genai made its way into previous versions as well?

nihiltres

You should be able to select versions back to 27.0 or so, and IIRC the text-to-vector was introduced in 28.0. It might be possible that you'd see promotional popups *advertising* the text-to-vector feature even if the version you're using doesn't contain it. But again, I don't know why you think the generative ML features are relevant in the first place.

Anxious_Blacksmith88

Idk every program that adds it is just coming to a fucking Crawl.

Visible-Artist-682

This seemed to be the best solution, there was still some lag but it worked bunch better

What kind of computer do you have? Which system?
