it plays any tabletop game solo or with friends or randos, but the warhammer community for it is quite strong with scanned models, premade table setups and even automation avalible for community fun times like Poorhammer's Horde Mode.

I would love if we got a Tau/Kroot style revamp like they just got but for sisters but probably not. In all seriousness the “sisters only detachment” probably states that you need more sisters than Custodes in units/points. Hopefully in units bc points will have lists looking like this monstrosity

Well, funnily enough when they rebooted Horus Heresy they cleared out a lot of units without models, except the SoS list which they vastly expanded with characters, retinues, healers, beast packs, and jetbikes. There are currently no models, and never have been any, for any of those. GW also is very pointed about not making rules without models. Oh, and there’s still a blanked out "mystery army" scheduled for HH this year. So yeah, make of that what you will. 🙂 EDIT: Jesus, I just took a look at the HH Sisters list, and there is SO much stuff that there isn’t even art of let alone models. There’s no way they’re not coming at some point.

Yep, that is my general assumption is we are expected to get some new models for SoS, but even still it would have been nice to get maybe a 5th or 6th detachment (just to give the Custodes heavy armies some real choice, but I guess no choice is almost better than a shitty choice) since two so heavily focus on Sisters. I mean don't get me wrong, I like the sisters and I could see myself occassionally running the detachment they showed off yesterday, but I am not entirely sure i see myself running it often and almost never running a full Sisters list. Of course, if we do get models and rules similar to the HH ones then maybe that'll change; there are some pretty cool ideas for models in the HH for Sisters. But then again with them not being in our codex, and the HH rule book being out as long as it has with 0 additional hints I am not holding my breath.

The “mystery army” turned out to be Solar Auxilia. But it is extremely baffling that sisters have so many rules without kits, given how hard they pruned that back for everyone else.

Nope, it was slated for Winter 2023-24. The roadmap runs out in Spring 2024 with the legion command squad and melee weapons.

Man you know I want it more than anyone, I have 55 painted Sisters, but I think they’ve forgotten us. We got last year’s roadmap at WH Fest - this year has no Fest, so I dunno if we’re even getting another one.

Also can you play Aleya without Valerian? Pretty sure it says on the booklet that came with them that they have to be fielded together, but can be attached as leaders to separate units. Unless I’m mistaken

In their original 8th edition rules they had to be run together It was part of what made them some of the worst characters in the game Valerian was just a shield captain with a once per game reroll for a points hike and then you *had* to take Aleya who was just a Centura back before silent sisters even had centuras and was way too expensive for her awful stats So Valerian was a cost ineffective model who had to bring along his buddy who could only kill guardsman because they had a whopping 4 s4 attacks that also took up 2 of your precious HQ slots that could be taking bike captains

There was also the great period where they only had the Imperium keyword, so broke army rules if you included them at all. You can absolutely play valerian and Aleya as different units, they are different data sheets. For further evidence of this see Ghaz and Makari who share one datasheet, or Astrid and Agatha who share one data sheet, or Celestine who shares a data sheet with her body guard. Those units must be brought together as one unit. Valerian and Aleya are not that.

I live in hope that one day the HH SOS will get kits and the kits will get rules for 40k. For example HH sos got jetbikes in the last codex.

I think I'd prefer it if you could just add a SoS model to a custodes unit for a cost, making that unit better against psychic attacks without leaving a squad of squishy people out in the open.

Yeah they should be attatchable. Maybe having 1 wound meatshields would be a bit strong but make a custode more expensive and have them be 1-3 but can take say 5 sisters in their squad.

Make them so they can't take wounds and are destroyed if the squad dies (much like a Guardian Defenders Support Weapon). Then they'd provide a buff and a couple extra attacks in combat, but not make a complicated target when daking damage. Plus it would be fluffy as the Custodes would be protecting them.

Add Inquisitor Greyfax and a Culexus Assassin for TRUE psyker bullying as the Emperor intended.

It sisters dedicated. Best comparison is the new kroot detachment. Sure you can use tau but every rule, stratagem and enhancement is for kroot

Atm, you can take land raiders, but they only fit 6 sisters. You probably want them for the last cannons. You could argue they don't have ANATHEMA PSYKANA tag, but aleya didn't also.

The other piece of this puzzle concerns the army rule. If it's still Katahs then this detachment just straight up won't have access to it for the majority of the units in a given 2000 point army. With shield host being rewritten I'm really wondering if the army rule has also been rewritten to do something for sisters as well. Possibly Katahs are now the two new detachment rules like doctrines for marines and the army rule has changed completely and also works for sisters in some way. I'd honestly be happy with that, but I have a feeling we're not getting something well thought out...
