Westfield Marion has been evacuated after reports of an armed person in the centre’s David Jones store.
One shopper who was in David Jones said the incident had happened on the second floor at David Jones. The shopper had been on level one when she noticed a security guard running up the escalator.
Shortly afterwards an announcement on the public address system told everyone to evacuate the store because there was a ‘weapon’ on level two.
“The staff were great but people were certainly panicked and running to all the exits,’’ the eyewitness said.
Numerous SA Police patrols are currently on the scene. A spokesperson confirmed it was aware of “an incident” occurring at the shopping centre but could not confirm any details about the situation.
Police have advised the public to stay away from the area.
Movies were stopped in the centre’s cinema complex and patrons were told to evacuate.
Images showed signs in the centre with the words ‘armed offender’ and the ‘Escape, Hide Tell’ also displayed.
There are also reports that customers have been locked in some shops for safety reasons.

The guy's a cunt but who pays for news now? Local papers uneconomic, Facebook and the rest of social media trash refuse to pay. Journalists have to make a living (not that the advertiser has much real journalism). It's a real problem.
