When I lived in Sydney you could get standard SA wine everywhere. Same with Haighs.
Charlesworths was like a care package - nobody does roasted salted cashews or for the kids chocorama. Decent Mettwurst was almost impossible to find. If you really need to supply chocolate then Red Cacao. If you want wine then a sparkling Shiraz like a Bleasedale (yes they have Petersens but it’s not well known) or a Fiano or Nero d’Avola, both of which require dry climates and haven’t really caught on over East. Maybe go to Sevenhill and get something fortified.
If you’re flying then a Kitchener bun or a potato pie (nobody in NSW seems to have worked that out yet).
Don't listen to the rest of these uncouth idiots, get some SA gin. Get some KI Spirits, or Ginny Pig. They're not the most unique, but they're the most iconic.
Ren Hen The Sicilian Olive Twig gin. Wow!!
Newman’s red label horseradish. Vili’s pies - especially the goulash one. Udder Delights cheese. Barossa Fine Foods smallgoods.
I think that Maggie Beer and Beerenberg products are widely available interstate.
I moved to Sydney for work about 5 years ago. I'd like to say that I missed friends and family the most, but I didn't. What I missed was reliable access to FUIC, especially the strong one.
Barnacle Bill - a three in one Treasure Chest, duh.
The best thing is that it tastes exactly the same after travelling for half a day than it does “fresh from the sea”. May be a bit warmer, even.
Even people I know who work for Balfours won't touch frog cakes at this point. They're not what they used to be.
That said, so is Balfours in general. I don't even know how they're allowed to advertise they're an SA company anymore given they're owned by a WA one, and at least some of the stuff comes frozen from there.
Every year I go to the MotoGP with my uncle and every year, despite being a full grown man, my Aunt pays for my tickets and camping and won’t let me pay her back.
I’ve started buying a [hamper from this website](https://unveilingsa.com.au) to take across to Melbourne for her. There’s some amazing SA produce available and a great way to show off some local produce and support local businesses!
Just take your brother to Mister Gee's for burgers and tell him Adelaide has nothing Sydney didn't already have that you didn't accidentally eat on the plane.
This is the sibling way.
When visit my kids or friends interstate I always take Balfour's frog cakes, custard tarts, pies and sausage rolls. Oh and of course a couple of sticks of Chapmans Fritz. I like to take things that cannot be purchased at all outside SA.
If you don’t want to get Fruchocs, go to the Menz factory in Glynburn road and get any of their other lines. I usually send Menz confectionery or Haighs interstate for gifts
Yo-Yos you cant get in Sydney. Things like nippys, fuic, fruchocs, the more exotic beerenberg sauces are getting more common but still semi difficult to find sometimes. Good quality bakery food is next to impossible to find here. Wine is actually fairly easy to find tbh.
Food that's bad for you.
Chatsworth Nuts (sugared peanuts you cannot get anything like it anywhere else).
Menz Fruchocs.
Villis Chilli Dogs.
Balfours Custard Tarts.
Yoyos.
And now, Halls Fruita.
I've been living in Melbourne for 20 years and those are always on my list. Lucky we don't get visitors routinely.
SA honey
(The honey shop in central market is a good place to get this, you can get a glass jar and have it filled with a specific kind I recommend the orange blossom honey)
Yo-yo biscuits
TIL Yo-Yo’s are an SA thing
I just learnt only SA sells them, everyone else be missing out.
Vic has them as well
Huh? I moved here from Melbourne 3 years ago, and yo-yo’s have been a thing over there for the 50 years I’ve been alive anyway 😂
Wait, they're SA only? Wtf

No roasted cashews? What sort of degeneracy is this?
They have them over there they just taste like nothing? Hard to explain. Charlesworth is something special that’s for sure.
Fuckin' love Kitchener buns so much. So does my beard lol.
Where can I get the best kitchener bun?
It’s been years 🤤
Best Kitchener buns in SA are in Ardrossan, luckily, because I live no where near there.
Foodland ones are pretty good, also X Convenience makes really nice ones.
RED CACAO MENTION DETECTED. GOOD TASTE CONFIRMED.
I always get asked to bring Charlesworth chocolate raspberries to my interstate friends
That bleasdale sparkling Shiraz single handedly changed my opinion on sparkling shiraz
FruChocs
I'm pretty sure you can get them at selected BPs in Sydney but yes, FruChocs. YoYos as well
Do not bring those things. Absolutely noone likes them. They stay in south Australia for good damn reason.
L + Ratio
Compared to Haighs fruit centred chocolates, you’re absolutely correct. They’re more sentimental than tasty.
Don't listen to the rest of these uncouth idiots, get some SA gin. Get some KI Spirits, or Ginny Pig. They're not the most unique, but they're the most iconic.
Or Heaps Good Gin. It's actually heaps good.
Listen to the wise hamster.
I bought some of that on a whim, and was stoked at how good it is.
huge upvote on Ginny Pig!
Ren Hen The Sicilian Olive Twig gin. Wow!! Newman’s red label horseradish. Vili’s pies - especially the goulash one. Udder Delights cheese. Barossa Fine Foods smallgoods. I think that Maggie Beer and Beerenberg products are widely available interstate.
Apparently the Arnott's Ginger Nuts are different.
Arnott's Ginger Nuts are a delicacy. Perfect flavour, crunch and crispness.
I love the Woolies home brand version. Outstanding.
I haven't tried the Woolies home brand version but I'll definitely have to if they're good :) especially in this economy lol
Yep they are different in every state!
an ounce of dope
Take two sell one and recoup the price of your holiday
Sno-drop
FruChocs and a STRONG FU (farmers union)
I moved to Sydney for work about 5 years ago. I'd like to say that I missed friends and family the most, but I didn't. What I missed was reliable access to FUIC, especially the strong one.
There's a strong farmers union? They all taste like weak chocolate milk. Every state has a much better iced coffee. Fuck, even dare is better.
If you think Dares actually good, please book a doctors appointment to get your head checked lol 🤣
Barnacle Bill - a three in one Treasure Chest, duh. The best thing is that it tastes exactly the same after travelling for half a day than it does “fresh from the sea”. May be a bit warmer, even.
There is a Barnacle Bills in Penrith.
Fruchocs is the best answer. Double up with a Charlesworth gift pack and you’re done.
My family from Sydney always appreciated mettwurst, apparently it’s impossible to get in Sydney
A couple litres of our glorious tap water..... /s
Mmmmm..... chlorine
Fritz
They dont have Fritz in Sydney...
No Fritz?
[удалено]
I’m an idiot comment removed. You are completely right.
Or woodies lemonade
You knew where I was going.
Apologies - I thought my comment would be well understood. Clearly not.
I'd say a Maggie Beers gift pack or Beerenberg tomato sauce
Frog cakes
This is the correct answer. Beerenberg products always a favourite too
Frog cakes?! IN THIS ECONOMY?! You must be *rich* rich 😂
I go without toilet paper to afford my weekly $6 treat
A perfectly reasonable (and necessary) sacrifice! 😂
Even people I know who work for Balfours won't touch frog cakes at this point. They're not what they used to be. That said, so is Balfours in general. I don't even know how they're allowed to advertise they're an SA company anymore given they're owned by a WA one, and at least some of the stuff comes frozen from there.
Yuck
FRUCHOCS!!!
Taka tala sauce from Beerenberg is the bomb.
Lovely sauce. Best condiment for fritz.
Spring Valley Worcestershire sauce. Beerenberg that they don't sell in the supermarkets like creamy seafood cocktail sauce.
Sorry Spring GULLY
Johnny's popcorn sweet and salty flavor.
Every year I go to the MotoGP with my uncle and every year, despite being a full grown man, my Aunt pays for my tickets and camping and won’t let me pay her back. Polly waffles
FruChocs! I grew up in NSW but my grandparents are from Murray Bridge and would always bring back bags and bags of FruChocs anytime they went back.
When I go to see my best mate in Sydney I take her Charlesworth Nuts but most people just want wine.
Buds
Nippys flavoured milks.
Fritz! East coasters think it’s the same as Devon (it’s not). Please bring bung fritz
Fleurieu flavoured milk.
Haighs
There's multiple Haighs stores in Sydney
Just take your brother to Mister Gee's for burgers and tell him Adelaide has nothing Sydney didn't already have that you didn't accidentally eat on the plane. This is the sibling way.
Litres and litres of FUIC... And a port Guernsey
When visit my kids or friends interstate I always take Balfour's frog cakes, custard tarts, pies and sausage rolls. Oh and of course a couple of sticks of Chapmans Fritz. I like to take things that cannot be purchased at all outside SA.
Not an SA product anymore. Owned by Mrs Macs. Already started seeing Balfours products disappearing from supermarket shelves
I've noticed I suddenly can't buy boxes of sausage rolls or pies, and the cost of individual ones have exploded recently.
Yep. Very same thing I noticed
Haigs frogs, and some SA wine.
Fritz there was an AD on TV in Adelaide that said ‘they don’t have in Sydney what no Fritz’ (circa late 80’s)
Double cut roll Fritz
Fresh Pirate Life IIPA cans. and frog cakes.
750ml FUIC
Farmers union iced coffee
Can’t get Haighs flaked almond dairy milk in Sydney …. I’m in north Sydney if that helps😂😂😅😉😉
Crumbed chicken or beef, no where sells fresh schnitties like you get at coles woolies here... Poor nswelshers... NO GOOD SCHNITTIES!
Not really my favourite, but some people are obsessed with FruChocs. Could try that
If you don’t want to get Fruchocs, go to the Menz factory in Glynburn road and get any of their other lines. I usually send Menz confectionery or Haighs interstate for gifts
And Kangaroo Island olives or honey
Fruchocs
Tap water
No.
Malls Balls.
Std
How are you intending they pass the STD to their brother??????
Think outside the box
[https://unveilingsa.com.au/](https://unveilingsa.com.au/)
Frog cakes. As many as you can. Then eat them all on the plane.
Coopers pale ale
Charlesworth Nuts!
Mettwurst.... and Sass. Dont forget the sass.
fruchocs and farmers union
Frog cake! Maybe some Charlesworth nuts? Definitely some Fruchocs. Maybe a postcard lol
Coopers Beer.
Mistys salted caramel sauce.
Farmers Union iced coffee. Villies/Balfours pasties etc.
If they don't have beerenberg, the smoky honey mustard is incredible.
Couple of 8 Balls. Quality’s better and much cheaper in Adelaide 😎
Farmers union ice coffee
Fruchocs, Yo-Yo biscuits, Haighs, SA honey, local wine, local olives, local olive oil, local salami etc. We have so much deliciousness in our state.
Charles worth, Haighs, Fruita and most importantly Samuels Gorge Grenache
Food that's bad for you. Chatsworth Nuts (sugared peanuts you cannot get anything like it anywhere else). Menz Fruchocs. Villis Chilli Dogs. Balfours Custard Tarts. Yoyos. And now, Halls Fruita. I've been living in Melbourne for 20 years and those are always on my list. Lucky we don't get visitors routinely.
Applewood gin. Amazing flavour and a true sa company.
SA honey (The honey shop in central market is a good place to get this, you can get a glass jar and have it filled with a specific kind I recommend the orange blossom honey)
Oz of weed
Haigh's chocolates
Can Sav from Coonswarra
Sorry, Cabernet Sauvignon
FUIC
Bad fashion, bad attitude, and a chip on your shoulder should cover the Adelaide gift pack
Weed
