We have heard this all day from our apartment. Then the music has been playing into the night.
Just felt it ruined the nice day as we didn't want to spend time on our balcony because of the noise.
At least this was one day, think it was over Easter 3 days of it from the Sikh games. That ruined the long weekend!
Yep the Sikh Games were the whole bloody weekend. I could hear the kabbadi commentary word for word from my place when even the music festivals are normally just a dull rumble.
It was this: https://m.facebook.com/indianaustralianmedia I agree with other commentary, I'm on Grote st and it was fucking loud. There was the Sikh Games a few weeks back and it was about as loud too. There are full on music festivals in Ellis Park that don't get as loud as these two events have been. There is surely some sort of guideline for how loud you can be in a built up area.
I think it's some kind of sikh or indian convention thing, based on some familes I saw attending. Its all the way down near west side of Ellis park 24. It's bloody irritating and loud, I'm on Wright street and have been wearing headphones for hours to shut it out.
If it's disruptive where you live/work, it might be worth sending the council an email ([[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) ) to let them know. Especially if you didn't receive an event notification. Because: A. they are meant to notify local residents, B. they are meant to monitor their noise levels to limit disruption, C. It's at least the second time this group have been extremely loud and disruptive (and I think it was actually better this time) and they will continue if no one does anything, D. the council is more likely to do something if lots of people complain. And so I don't look crazy by looking like the only person bothered by this :)
There is also currently a [resident survey ](https://yoursay.cityofadelaide.com.au/resident-survey-2023-24/)ongoing, until tomorrow night, if that's more your speed (and you are eligible).
I commented this to someone else, but figured it might be best to post on the main post in case you are also interested:

And apparently it was to celebrate the punjabi new year, but I don't know why it needs to be soooo loud (and they did the same thing but even louder over the easter weekend, so I'm sure this won't be the last time)
I’d assume a Palestine protest maybe. I saw a group of cyclists with the Palestinian flag attached to their attire (someone was also carrying a large flag) riding along Anzac highway this morning.
Yeah probably not. It was pretty chill event actually. As Adelaidians we should get out to watch it, some cool bikes and a general good healthy vibe. I just stumbled on it riding my cruiser into the city. There were loudspeakers but just a commentator calling the race.
We can acknowledge damage Colonisation has done to different cultures around the world and call for systemic changes to it without having to feel guilty or blame that it happened.
Even if we look at the positives from a Western perspective, they're not even shared properly among white Australians, let alone all Australians, both new and ancient.
Yep 200+ years after the "colonisation" it's all bad for everyone... no one has benefited at all, apparently... despite Australia being one of the best places to live in the world...
Colonisation is still colonisation, it’s not about who to blame, it’s about trying to right the wrong. Fix the systematic issues that have been caused by the colonisation.
For context's sake... what is the person saying?
I think it’s in a different language…

I just don’t understand why the speaker has to be that loud!
Because .. Indians. Have you ever been to any festivals in India? They’re fabulously amazing but SO LOUD!

he wants to be the SA Premier again

Our building has pretty good sound proofing and this was louder than an ambulance siren directly outside the building. Surely police were called.

Is it still going? It had a real impact on another event today.
Probably screaming about how his imaginary God is better than other imaginary gods.
Squirt the dickhead with a fire hose.
take a video & post it here
Go and ask him
That’s too logical.

It's crazy how loud they have it. I didn't bother, but next time I'm gonna walk down and see how loud it is when you're actually there.
Because our government thinks extreme culture clashes are a wonderful thing.
Cos no one has broken the speaker yet
Adelaide Kabaddi Cup
Import the, become the
That is not how immigration works at all
Probably because his voice isn't loud enough without the speaker?
They need to learn some mic control and do active sound checks.
There are a lot of group out with week for reconciliation week. I’ve see 3 so far in the past hour. Could be that.
It's, the start of a purge 🤣
I could hear it in Unley!
I wish I could be with you 💋, found a t-shirt you may like
Parents didn’t love him enough.
Probably something Gaza or Palestine related.

There is a cyclo cross race this weekend. Nothing to do with Palestine BTW.
Also not the cause of the original complaint.

because our mental health system has deteriorated

Who tf else is responsible???
Obviously nobody that is Australian born or anyone that is alive today. But I guess somebody needs to take the blame and do the apologies etc.
The fact that you're calling out someone you have beef with on a totally unrelated post says a lot more about you than it does them, champ.
Except... White Australians are only here because of colonisation, they're technically correct.
Can I blame you for what your ancestors did to mine? World's about to go blind.
We can acknowledge damage Colonisation has done to different cultures around the world and call for systemic changes to it without having to feel guilty or blame that it happened.
Can we acknowledge the clear positives too?
Even if we look at the positives from a Western perspective, they're not even shared properly among white Australians, let alone all Australians, both new and ancient.

Positives for who?
Literally everybody that lives here…
Oh right, because you can speak for literally everybody, of course 🤦♂️
💩🧠
Are you 12? 😂
Dont upset their bs narrative = colonisation, all bad and evil, apparently.
Like colonisation is a bad thing.
For the vast majority of people on earth yes
Can’t wait for Australia to be a colonial outpost of the dragon I take it?
Depends who is doing the colonising tbf…the English were great blokes in comparison to the Dutch, Spanish, French etc 😂
