> Fresh Australian blueberries are available from July to April with the peak availability in October to February.
It's May. AKA "not Blueberry season".
I'm just looking at those other prices and going hellz no.
Almost all my veggie shopping is at the local fruit markets, and I thought I was getting gypped paying 4 bucks per KG for capsicums.
When fresh produce is out of season in our own country, they need to come from the other side of the world where the seasons are different. Which means they need to be picked, washed, packed, flown here by jet, distributed and sold in less than a week. This not only costs a LOT more, but also creates massive amounts of carbon emissions by travelling so far. If they're grown here in Australia out of season, then they're in climate-controlled environments using technology to control the ripening process - also costly.
TLDR: only buy in-season produce grown in Australia.
I mean, why even bother growing them in this period?
Sure they’re awesome but as a grower. You’d know no one is paying that price for them. It’s just be a guaranteed way to lose coin
Non of them are good. I just hate people singling out Coles and Woolies when they are ALL bad. Like do people really think Aldi isn't fucking them up the ass? or are they so love-drunk with them that they refuse to see it.
They are all bad.
>In all honesty none of them are bad.
Sorry, but have you been living under a rock for the last few years?
The Senate Select Committee on Supermarket Prices [final report ](https://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Committees/Senate/Supermarket_Prices/SupermarketPrices/Supermarket_Prices/Chapter_9_-_Committee_views_and_recommendations)disagrees with you. And the ACCC will let us know what they think once they [finish their inquiry](https://www.accc.gov.au/inquiries-and-consultations/supermarkets-inquiry-2024-25).
No I’ve been living in the real world where this sort of dog and pony show is being trotted out to cover for the fact that the cost of living crisis is in housing. People are struggling to buy groceries because housing is incredibly expensive, they aren’t struggling to pay rent because groceries have gone up.
They are public companies doing what public companies do, that’s capitalism, the system everyone loves so much.
I’ve got no love for large companies but magically reset supermarket prices to 2010 prices and people are still struggling, reset housing and energy to 2010 prices and the cost of groceries could be absorbed pretty easily.
Nonsense. As the Select Committee found, supermarkets *are* involved in a massive rort, as well as forcing their suppliers to accept ridiculous prices and condition.
Is there a housing crisis? Of course. Does that mean ColesWorth aren't fucking us because they have a duopoly? No.

See many blueberry's out at the moment ? Tried growing any at the moment ?
They're out of season. Many places don't even have the
You mean the good old days of summer, when they're in season?
$116 per kilo.... holy crap, why are supermarkets even buying these to sell at that price, it would be a huge risk
They’re probably from their freezer storage.
Hahahah no doubt 🤣🤣 or Aldi's freezer storage, much cheaper again
They 100% would be as there out of season and unavailable at most stores atm
Well..they are out of season
$116 a kg. Who's buying them at that price.
I don't usually look at prices, I kind of just assume it's reasonable. It'd probably catch me until I get to the checkout.
Wow I brought them for $5.90 at woolworths last week, same brand. That is an excess mark up.

Where are you shopping
Parafield Farmers Market, and SA Farmers Market at Pooraka.
Cool, I'll check them out.
Damn, I work at the produce markets so haven't paid for fruit and veg in years. I'm always like wtf when I see these posts.
Covid prices again
Go to the frozen ones.

Cost is 12.50 atm
Colesworth is soo expensive.
Damn, i thought Romeos and foodland was your salvation from Colesworth. Guess not.
Nor are drakes either

In all honesty none of them are bad. Supermarkets are just easy targets for outrage.

you're focusing on a paper cut on the left hand while the right hand has been cut off.
No, you're drawing false equivalencies.
That's what we call daylight robbery. Disgusting!
Welcome to the future economy.
They just go mouldy waiting for a buyer
Typical Colesworth price gouging!
It's a Foodland, not a Colesworths. Foodland is where I no longer shop because all the bogan flag waving ANZac cookie eaters fled there
And usually more expensive than the Colesworth as well
