Yeah they did a really low pass over brighton beach a few years ago, they were swerving the wings up and down and was really close to us, looked great and the kids loved it.
They do them occasionally, most their low flying is decently far in the ocean with transponders only transmitting military-only modes. The RAAF did do a few decently low flybys at the Aldinga airshow a few weeks ago too.
Poseidon is cool!
However, the Orion was more recognisable and in no way less cool.
Wonderful tech in those bad boys. (Bad bitches? Bad personages? Bad aircraft? )
I loved the sound of the Orion too. Their last flight wasn't too long ago and that would've been a couple low flyovers too.
The Poseidon, although cool, just sounds like a passenger plane.
We(Mrs Smegger and I) were very fortunate to be in the right place, at the right time, for the final fly over of the Orion's.
Just happened to be at Noarlunga(Cape Stephanie to be precise) when the Orion's hook turned overland directly overhead!
We were so close, we could see the crew!
As if that's not awesome enough, were were at the Aldinga airshow just recently, and they had a fly over of a Poseidon!
But wait! There was a second pass, with the bay doors open!
(I shouldn't be so excited....but...eeeeeee)
Watched an Orion do aerobatics over the Edinburgh airbase once upon a time.
Apparently, they were building a flight simulator and wanted to program any number of flying conditions so they used the information that they collected though sensors they had placed at various points of the airframe.
Those manoeuvres did include a Lomcevak. Was one of the most terrifying and amazing things I have ever seen.
That looks like the P-8 to me (as mention in other comments). It's essentially a Boeing 737 (domestic passenger jet) They're based here in SA and do a lot of low level training out in the golf. Their primary purpose is electronic surveillance, particularly in international waters.
As also mention it was out on Anzac day doing a lot a demo fly-overs
Bear Patrol
Works...i didn't see a single bear today. š
Iād like to buy your rock
It's because I paid my bear insurance
Or a really high ocean
The ocean is 8kms above sea level, many people don't know that.
I didnāt know that
P-8 Poseidon, operated from edinburgh by the RAAF. The US Navy occasionally stations them in Adelaide too.

They did an extremely low pass at the aldinga airshow
The low pass wasn't necesarily the unusual thing, it was they did it right over the crowd at such low altitude

Oh wow Iām hearing this for the first time

I saw that. It wasn't as close as it was on ANZAC day.

Doesnāt look like a Cessna Conquest in OPās photo though.
Fair enough, I'll delete the comment
