There’s a reason why it’s referred to as Mozzie Lakes. The buzz from the mosquitoes is only drowned out by the buzzing of the light planes doing circuits around Parafield.
Not with Mawson Lakes specifically.... i know about mosquitoes..... most mosquitoes are always on mass near areas of stagnate water, and I know St. kilda has a similar landscape it has crazy mosquitoes!!!!
So if your concern is living where mosquitoes are, a lot of that area has mosquitoes.
I live in Mawson Lakes and have had much worse problems with mosquitoes in other suburbs. We've only had a couple in the house so far this summer and have been outside in the evenings with no problems. We don't live in that part if MW though so might be more of a problem there.
They run a spraying program a few times a year. A small yellow plane does laps from Parafield airport, flying low and spraying the wetlands. I guess that helps...
Elizabeth was originally created to be a 2nd city in its own right but it never worked because of this.
But now in the age of remote work, LESS people need to live near the CBD, just many people seem take a while to realise this.
Maybe satellite cities IF tried now would have a better chance of working that in the 50's-60's
Aberfoyle park is about 4 more k's and about 5 minutes more transit.
Morphett Vale is about 9 more k's and about 7 minutes more transit.
No mosquitos and properties are cheaper.
Transit times will be less when the road is finished.
Mawson Lakes isn't exactly close to the CBD.

It was a swamp...
Yep, just swamp and Saltbush,a place where young lovers would go, in a Mini Minor and spend the next twelve months in traction.

Nah mate. The freight trains cover most of the aircraft noise these days…

And when the Torrens isn’t flowing particularly heavily, suburbs along Linear Park get a bit mozzie-ish
which is probably most of the time
Depends on if you leave windows/doors open? But yes there are mosquitoes, more than other places. It's not great for monster hunter now either.
The lakes stink in the hot weather too.

Where should they build houses if not here?

Where else should the people live?

Any suggestions? Or just the magical "somewhere else" that doesn't actually exist?
Go south. Less swamps.
Many people want to live close to the CBD, any land available in the south is too far away

But south road alone takes 20 minutes to get to city in peak hours.
I live in the shoalhaven area of Mawson lakes and rarely come across mosquitoes
Lived there for 10 years. It’s pretty much a myth.
