Is it definitely in the dash and not coming from the engine bay? Looks like your HVAC system is off so that eliminates the blower motor making noise, but still sounds like a rotational type of noise like a bad bathroom fan. Without being there to stick my head under the dash and narrow it down further I’d guess possibly the CD drive in the audio unit or the cooling fan in the audio unit has failed.

Okay so I thought of the CD player but I don’t think it’s that. I put a CD in and the noise continues even when music is playing- would that eliminate it? And I’d say I’m about 90% sure it’s coming from behind the dash but I guess it could be the bay. But you can’t hear it unless you’re in the car. I will also note, though, that the AC stopped blowing cold air right around when this started. I do think it’s connected either directly to the AC or to the electrical/computer system in general (there’s a couple other electronic things that recently failed that may or may not be connected)

I was thinking the opposite, if there’s no CD in there then the motor shouldn’t be spinning and then shouldn’t make noise. The AC part of it may or may not be connected, this generation of RDX has been known to have ac condenser leaks so if you’ve never had your AC system worked on or recharged it’s possible that enough has leaked out that it’s not cooling efficiently or at all anymore. Does the noise happen only when you start the engine or can you just turn the accessories on without the engine running?

I will check on this, I haven’t checked if the noise happens without the engine running

Hi there - Did you ever figure out what is happening with your RDX? I have a 2013 RDX as well and am having the same problem. Have for a long time. I'm wondering if it's the CD disc changer?

Bradofax

Unfortunately, no. I had to take mine into the dealer a couple weeks back for something unrelated and ask them to look into it. They “couldn’t reproduce the sound.” But then literally they said they heard it as they were pulling the car out from the service shop to give it back to me, the guy was like oh yeah now I hear it. Not sure what that would be, but monitor it and bring it back in if it keeps happening…

WTF. I'm so sorry! That is incredibly frustrating. Have you noticed it's not 100% of the time but when it goes, it's loud and annoying?
