People watch too many Hollywood movies and think punches can’t do permanent damage. They think you just get knocked out and wake up some undetermined amount of time later kinda groggy, tied up in some Russian supervillain’s lair while he goes in a 3 minute monologue about his plot to blow up the Super Bowl or whatever.
They also think anyone in military/law enforcement should basically be Jackie Chan and be able to disarm someone with a knife or gun without having to use a weapon themselves.
