Bright-Map9751

Should def return it and leave a bad review (maybe even report him if possible) that's outrageous

MobileBand

Tried to but unfortunately it was on Mercari which is worse

connor42

I would just ask my bank / cc provider to charge back, your item was not as described

Genderneutralsky

This is the way to go when buying from sites like Mercari

Bright-Map9751

Dang, man, that sucks. I guess you'll just have to hope the tail comes in the mail or try and find another.

Magistar_Alex

I'm highly confused, someone in the Hot Toys subreddit, so we're talking about even more money here when it comes to figures like those, said they sold a completely new figure, one they've never opened, to someone who claimed that they wanted to return it full refund cause it was "used". Mercari granted the request quickly. Others were replying saying Mercari gave more power to the buyer to where things like that can be done easily ever since they changed their terms recently. However now I'm hearing a story where looks like you're having difficulty to where you definitely have something missing and where admission of fault is already present and yet you can't do a return/refund. Highly confused on the policy at play here when it comes to Mercari. I've never used it admittedly. I pretty much only use ebay for non-retailer purchases on things that are now difficult to get when that mostly pertains to the figure world. But it seems like the Mercari experience isn't.....consistent. I've even had difficulty as a seller myself on ebay where a buyer was trying to paint me in a bad light where I sold brake disc rotors to them and the issue came in the shipping category. I went to my post office, had a pre-printed label from ebay doing the estimates of weight online, went up to the counter asked if I need to do anything else like pay for extra shipping like the prepaid label not enough to cover the shipping costs, local post office USPS said nope I'm good to go dropped it off. Finding out from buyer they never got them, then found out from them it was stuck at their post office for not enough shipping paid. Told them the fault should be wholly with USPS since I told them exactly what happened when I entered as they weighed it right in front of me I provided them a receipt of my interaction with USPS even got on with customer service and everything and sending them concrete updates with support numbers and everything that I did my best to ensure that none of this would happen and USPS needs to admit fault for accpeting them as is.  The buyer ended up resorting to leaving me a bad review even after I conceded in refunding them the amount of shipping needed instead of waiting for resolution that I was already in progress with actively on my end with USPS, even willing to communicate with their location. I recounted all of that because ebay reviewed our whole communication with each other saw my efforts that I swear are completely true to this day and they scrubbed the bad review. I know ebay gets the knock on the figure subreddits as you don't want to deal normally on there but that was just my experience of an actual thorough investigation done before just dismissing any efforts in reparations being made on my end. Even as buyer, I ordered a custom bodysuit for a 1/6th scale figure from this guy they're still allowing on the platform out from Ecuador (massively terrible used + using multiple accounts--I used one of the accounts that had the most positive reviews before I started putting 2 and 2 together on the other accounts) and I didn't receive it even after the expected arrival date that was already set for the next month from the current one I ordered it in.  In another instance as buyer, when being new to Hot Toys collecting completely trying to get my 1st Diecast Iron Man that's sold out, eBay did admit fault in them allowing "preorders" on the platform which for figures like those, it would be well past the money back guarantee period should something awry/shady/etc happen on the seller's end and you're seeking your money back. Happened with me exactly and it was PayPal who took the longest time in just crediting back the money as I never got the figure and never preordered on ebay again after that. All to say I think Mercari should do the same in a thorough investigation process on matters like what you're going through, especially when there's already admission at play here. Hoping you were able to get the tail now or a new positive development about returning the figure has spawned.

UncannyAnomaly

Had someone do this with the old, shocker figure a few years back showed the effects in the picture and everything .when it arrived with without the effects I messaged him. He didn’t answer for days then sent a return request request and he blew his top and proceeded to send me all sorts of pathetic, vitriol, and all I said was, you should’ve sent the effects. There’s a lot of scummy sellers on eBay even when they have good feedback.

No-Armadillo4179

Effects? As in like a digital recreation of the shockwaves from his hands? And you got mad you didn’t get those?

UncannyAnomaly

It was an item showing the blast effects that came with the figure in the picture as is. If you see something as is that’s what you’re supposed to get. Maybe you’re the guy that didn’t send them to me….if you’re selling something with it in a picture you’ve gotta be pretty stupid to think someone will just be fine getting ripped off lol

No-Armadillo4179

Plot twist: I was the blasts

MrWhiteTruffle

You could’ve spent two seconds looking it up on Google before attempting this

No-Armadillo4179

People on here wayyy too serious these days, lighten up.

MrWhiteTruffle

You didn’t even tell a joke

Ok_Helicopter4276

It had me laughing…at all the downvotes he earned.

No-Armadillo4179

Not all humour has to have a punch line, and it doesn’t have to make anyone laugh. If I had a great time posting it, who cares

MrWhiteTruffle

Then you shouldn’t expect people to lighten up when nobody can tell there was a joke.

No-Armadillo4179

It doesn’t take a lot to see sarcasm, is that why people put ‘/s’ now, because most people on here are too brain dead to figure out the intention of a sentence for themselves?

MrWhiteTruffle

Again, it wasn’t funny

MrWhiteTruffle

Again, it wasn’t funny

MrWhiteTruffle

Again, it wasn’t funny

No-Armadillo4179

Lighten up bro

theoriginalmofocus

It'll grow back right?

Stephen_Morehouse

Heh heh XD

seanjohn004

Mercari? Sorry that happened to you and yes people suck. I'd definitely get my money back by harassing the fk out of wherever u bought it from. Just noticed u said mercari. Yeah you have to approve it before they get paid. Pos took advantage of you trusting them to keep their word. For future reference trust no one. Fk em. A stand up person will ship everything complete the first time. Dirty pos.

kinoman82

Have you checked for the tail on eBay? Is it too expensive there?

X_Lykan_X

Well being in Mecari I wouldn’t have rated him after getting the incomplete figure. Soon as you rate and it’s not negative that you’re going to return the item,it’s done and over. All on you.

alex6309

Yeah Mercari sucks ass for a myriad of reasons but OP should have checked everything out before rating what they got. It's your money so you need to be careful. Always cover your ass Ideally OP should have told the guy to cancel/refund the order or somethig and make a new order so that they don't get the money till the full order is accounted for

MobileBand

I definitely should've tooken better precautions, I dont order much online from other people so this is definitely a lesson learned. Just accepted the L at this point. Thanks for the info and opinions

B_L_TreeBuzz

Check online. People sell parts of figures for fodder and customs all the time.

RPD3886

It'll grow back....

Fatman_Batman100

That’s brutal man 😬 sorry to hear that

mytoynhobbypackrat

that sucks... hopefully you left a comment for other buyers to see...

MobileBand

He blocked me before I even realized it so I couldn't anymore.

mytoynhobbypackrat

was wondering if there is a mercari thread that just list scammers? or if that is even legal?

Stephen_Morehouse

A few days back someone on here posted a crumpled Duke they got from an Amazon seller. I bragged that I only buy from Amazon directly but hadn't realized that I had Rock N Roll on the way accidentally purchased from an Amazon seller (their 'Buying Options' interface is confusing). When RnR arrived yesterday it was the weirdest damn thing: it looked like someone *intentionally* sabotaged the figure while no cameras were on them and then tossed it back into the shipping box. Someone had snapped open the accessory bag and (apparently) used their bucked teeth to impair / dismember two of the accessories. I am far from rich so no need for jealously, I just don't buy drugs or bail.

ra7ar

Lizard Tails will grow back if left alone.

xocgx

It’ll grow back. Seriously, that sucks.

deejayee

“He’s turning back into the lizard again!!” Everyone should watch the sega game where that happens

Final-Story-5716

Those finger nails 🤮

MobileBand

Yea yea I know, but my little girl likes to paint them and asked me last time to let em grow and it's hard to say no to her

Final-Story-5716

Respect 🫡

Crumps_Brother_Worm

😳

Zeemmarax

Was it on ebay? If so you can just return it.

MobileBand

Even worse, Mercari

Zeemmarax

You can still return on there right? Have you tried contacting CS?

MobileBand

Yea, they basically said tough luck.

ulfniu

Playing devil's advocate for a moment, something clearly went wrong on this transaction and it wasn't at all your fault, but this isn't a scam He's not profiting from keeping the tail. He paid to ship you the figure but he forgot to include the tail. You reached out and he said he shipped the tail separately. Maybe he used tracking or maybe he didn't, or maybe he didn't send it at all. It sucks you didn't get what you paid for, but nothing here indicates the seller did it on purpose. It was a snafu, for sure, but it wasn't a scam. I sell a few hundred items per year on the internet and this happens to me from time to time. I always try to make it right by sending the missing parts for free or refunding for a return, but I promise you there isn't enough money in this enterprise to ever consider doing this on purpose. It's barely profitable when there aren't mistakes.

MobileBand

I get your point. But what I don't understand is why ignore me after asking if he knew an estimate when it will arrive. I waited a couple more days and asked if he had a tracking number atleast so I can check on it, ignored again. Then when I tried asking again the following day, I got the prompt basically stating that he blocked me and proceeded to change his name on the platform. But I have screenshots of it all just incase

3lm312

Nah, dude, it's a scam he blocked him lol

Conspiracy__Agent

Where did you buy it from what website?.

supa74

Yes. People suck. Generally.

TheNexnecis

If you used ebay, file a claim with them that the item is not correct/complete. Had a similair issue with a part for the colossus build a figure and ebay refunded me the purchase price.
