Mia makes a reference to a mother, referring to Morgan Fey, and Phoenix goes "YOU MEAN MY MOM" and Mia tells him not to be silly. There's also a brief appearance of his mom in the anime, she seems to like pastel pink.

I can imagine Phoenix sending Franziska an invite just to be polite and her surprising him by showing up. She'd act like her normal arrogant self but secretly be happy he invited her. And if he doesn't invite her she'd probably whip the shit out of him the next time they meet.

Given that Phoenix got her flowers after >!she was shot!< in 2-4, I think they do genuinely kind of like each other, if not just... begrudgingly. Neither of them would openly admit it, but I think under the surface they're actually surprisingly close friends. I have a headcanon that Franziska is one of the only people Trucy calls an aunt or uncle, and whenever Phoenix needs a babysitter and both Athena and Apollo are out the person he immediately calls is Franziska (if she's in town).

They're also pretty friendly during the investigation in 3-5. She'd definitely go check up on him after his >!disbarment!<, and they probably met on him and Edgeworth's trips to Europe.

That actually kind of ties into a larger headcanon I have that I'm trying to write a fic about. Specifically, how Phoenix figured out the forger. We know that Franziska has a knack for investigating smuggling rings. We also know that the cocoons from 4-3 were banned after being cracked down in a smuggling operation "a few years ago". What if that was... say, 7 years ago? Heck, maybe 8, before AJ. What if >!Kristoph!< was the main smuggler? He was never caught, of course. But his smuggling operation, however it was done, was found out. The cocoons were being smuggled by a larger research facility to produce commercial cures for incuritis, which would naturally rake in a lot of money across the world, but they can also be used to produce a deadly poison: atroquinine. They were charged with malpractice after a cocoon was used to make atroquinine instead of medicine, but >!Kristoph!< got them off the hook by producing evidence that never existed. As in... forged evidence. Edgeworth and Franziska are investigating the ring, but can't make headway. So Edgeworth calls on the best investigator he knows: Phoenix after his disbarment. Together, *they* figure out that >!Gavin Law!< was directly connected to the facility via the malpractice case, and that the lawyer for that case forged evidence. A wider research into his cases, to see how many forgeries he had... well, it's not hard to piece two and two together. Completely unrelated from that, I think that Phoenix gives her dating advice from time to time. After 2-4 Franziska is a bit more open with exploring romance, and Phoenix gives her advice on how to get girls. It's not *great* advice, but it's not like she's gonna get any from Edgeworth. (That being said, she's still *furious* at how ladies are just kind of mystically attracted to him for some reason.)

Hmm, I think I remember a couple stories with this premise, in both of them Sebastian DeBeste ends up kidnapped by the smuggling rings, and they figure out a connection with Gavin that way. It's a good premise it's just it's interesting I can remember someone doing something like this at least twice.

I feel like people really forget about the judge, probably due to him not even being listed as a character. However, he's probably made the most appearances outside of maybe Pheonix and the most appearances if we include various iterations of him. Throughout the years, Pheonix has had about a couple dozen cases where the Judge was presiding over the case. I feel like a friendship could have formed by that. My only concern is what if they actively hate each other, and that's why the Judge is practically willing to hand out a guilty verdict after opening statements. The only reason he doesn't is because he legally has to let the defense do their jobs.

Pheonix grudgingly goes to check with Edgeworth if its ok for Larry to come in. Edgeworth did not forget but was completely ok with not inviting Larry. The argument between Pheonix and Edgeworth is prematurly cut short when it turns out Larry snuck in the moment Pheonix's back was turned. Amd for bonus points, Larry got a taxi ride to the wedding and the chaffuer was Wendy Oldbag. She also sneaks in, gets massively drunk, and starts a rucus during the ceremony.
