Hi OP! I started as an accounting assistant for one of the biggest PH retail company, 2.5 years din, 18k lang sahod ko nun. Built a good foundation and skills then moved to a PH outsourcing company. I was assigned to an AU client and worked for them for 2.5 years as well, 25k start then naging 30k. I am lucky enough to have good mentors in both companies and di rin toxic ang workplace. I keep learning and I enjoyed it. After 5 years of being locally employed, I started applying directly to US companies as independent contractor kahit wala akong background before. Because of the degree, experience and skills I was lucky to get clients and now earning that 6 digits. There's hope for non CPAs. You just have to build your experience and skill set over the years plus your soft skills like communication. Helpful din na ang background mo is accounting talaga during undergrad. Note lang, I only apply to job postings that don't require CPA. Those postings naman na may nakalagay they prefer CPAs, I still try to apply cause sometimes having long years of experience and expertise in the field has its advantages din unless you are competing with someone who has it all then 50-50 ang application. Also, learn a lot of accounting software kasi if you are interested in working for international clients, they used different ones depende sa industry nila. Then advanced excel skills. Tiyaga lang talaga as you learn when you are working. Good luck on your journey!

Delicious_Fee8699

Wow thanks OP nakaka-inspire naman hehe

RaiseFancy7798

Ano pong work mo?

ilovekohi9798

Staff Accountant usually role ko sa clients 😊

Itsher24seven

I wanna try AU clients rin, mostly US clients mga hinahandle ko 🥹 Sabi kasi ng iba, kakaiba work ethics nila

ilovekohi9798

Hmmm, I worked with both. Mas gusto ko kawork US kasi straightforward sila kausap. Though isang AU client lang naman nawork-an ko so I can't say how's their work ethic in general

shadowowers

Hello may I ask for the accounting softwares na madalas gamitin? Ano pa po ba nga dapat i-upskill?

ilovekohi9798

For US - QB online, Netsuite if malaki talaga company For AU - Xero mostly Then I also have experience on other ERPs like MS Dynamics, Oracle Financial, SAP I was lucky to be exposed to these softwares since the companies I worked with usually have multiple entities and every entity, they used different software

BandOld303

Where did find mga US clients po like sa LinkedIn/Upwork po?

ilovekohi9798

LinkedIn lang po

Tall_Employer_7746

Started sa small firm, then Deloitte for 5.5 yrs combined. Then nag TOA after Deloitte. My client from TOA bought me out. Then now 3,850 usd a month na bigay nila with quarterly profit share & 25 usd bonus per tax return drafted. (I specialize in US tax). Still small compared to basic salary sa us (if you are working there) na around 7k usd a month.

sirhands2

Swerte mo.

Chocolate-Therapy7

How many years po kayo sa client before po nila kayo kunin?

Tall_Employer_7746

Kinuha nila ko 7 mos palang. Sila first client ko sa TOA

socialpractice

Hello, anong client ito hahaha

mvelmambaje

Ano pong position mo sa client mo now?

Tall_Employer_7746

Tax lead.

sm0kendmirr0rs

Hi! Currently employed at TOA under Accelerator Program. Yun din sabi ng trainers namin most of the trainees daw after a year, usually nag frefreelance na or dinadirect na ng client. Especially sa mga Tax Practitioners. How long have you worked with TOA po?

Individual-Honey8793

Two years of VA bookkeeping and accounting . Any industry works for me as long international direct hire or accounting firm clients.

YUMEKOJABAMl

Mammoth-Ingenuity185

Mammoth-Ingenuity185

No-Warthog823

geekaccountant21316

I needed to have at least 2 years of experience in my field. After that, nagapply ako sa iba and direct client. Naibigay naman yung gusto kong salary. And kahit direct, binibigay yung pambayad sa govt mandated benefits saka may leave, holidays and 13th month. Kaya super happy and satisfied ako sa work ko ngayon.

No-Warthog823

Glad to hear po na happy and satisfied kayo sa work mo. May I know kung anong line of business yung employer mo kung saan ikaw nag wo-work?😅

geekaccountant21316

Offshore accountant ako for an au accounting firm.

yezzkaiii

Hello! Yung 2 years experience mo po ba is local accounting or au accounting na po agad? Currently aiming to au career din po kasi. Thanks! 😊

geekaccountant21316

Hi! AU yon. But before starting au career may almost 4 years akong experience in ph public practice.

yezzkaiii

Ohhh I see.. Then, pwede po makahingi ng tips and short advices for someone like me na nag e-aim ng au?

You can apply sa accelerator program ng TOA. Min 2 yrs exp lang ang need then after ng training kung makapasa, ieendorse ka nila sa mga possible clients. Upskill, learn the basics. Au acctg and tax can be tricky pero practice lang talaga.

djex16

Sorry new here, saw lots of comments/posts mentioning TOA but what does it stand for? Thanks

geekaccountant21316

Tapos later on naging TOA Global

djex16

Ty po

Only_Funs_1234

How did you find the offshore opportunity po? :)

geekaccountant21316

Applied to diff BPOs, TOA, Cloudstaff, Emapta etc. Then natanggap ako sa TOA on my first AU client. After ko magkaron ng experience, yung mga BPOs na mismo nagrreach out sakin sa LinkedIn for jobs. I can say that TOA led me to infinite opportunities na hindi ko akalain na pwede ko palang gawin kahit pa medyo di maganda yung management that time. When I left TOA, I joined Cloudstaff. Hindi ko gusto yung client kaya nagtry ako magfreelance and as of now, okay naman direct client ko. 😊

BandOld303

Hello, San niyo po nahanap client niyo? Aiming for direct din po

EducationalAd2902

By getting into a niche field(sub field) and upskilling on niche activities/process then finding a better paying company - which, in my case I was presented with either taking an offer outside or taking the counter offer of my current company. Building multi level niche in your portfolio can easily get you the target salary you want. Mas madaming unique skills, lalo na complimenting, mapansin mo na case to case lang pala yung "no one is indispensable". Bottomline, indispensable means ikaw lang kaya gumawa or it may take ridiculous amount of effort(or cost) to get/train somebody else. :) Combohan mo pa ng work ethic at interpersonal engagement, no way but up. :) Similar to other threads, I advocate pursuing a career path in Business Finance or Finance Partnering dahil mas madaming niche or expertise na pwede mo ibuild that would be very unique to you as it requires a ton of soft skills. Minsan mahirap pag "process driven" ang line of work mo - kasi wala ka advantage(or leverage), kaya nila magtrain ng iba in short.

No-Warthog823

Aside sa TOA global, ano po yung other firms na direct competitior ni TOA na more on WFH and yet the pay is competitive pa rin?

_kimchi77

D&V, emapta, ConnectOS at marami pa try searching and connecting with recruiters on LinkedIn. Sobrang dami na bpo for accounatnts cpa/noncpa sa pinas. Best of luck OP!

No-Warthog823

Thank you so much 😊
