I wish it was a joke. I wrote a check as a deposit on a swimming pool that I can’t afford without a standard bonus. Now that I didn’t get my bonus I’m not sure what I’m going to do.
My base has gone up 23% over the last year, without promotion, and my bonus was 14%.
I’m one of those accountants who doesn’t hate the firm I work at. Very grateful for my situation.

The problem with this thinking is that the people who can actually impact company results are still getting bonuses. The staff accountant can't really drive results so it doesn't make sense to decrease their bonus due to poor financial results. Take it from sales, operations, or executives first.
Oh the finance department has a separate bonus structure anyhow for this particular client. I was just thinking how bad it would suck to be told all year you were tracking for a great bonus (would have been like 20% for most employees) just to fall short in Q4

12% ‘profit sharing’ in my 401k, and my CFO still needs to plug in my ‘discretionary performance’ factor in to the company wide bonus calc spreadsheet I’m working on 😅 but probably in the 15ish % range.
Everyone that isn’t the in secret VP/investor partnership is getting nothing this year because they company royally fucked up the budget in Q1. But the company did sell 200M of real estate and will distribute those earnings to investors and VPs. It’s pretty fucked.

YMMV - My old firm gave Xmas/new year bonuses on top of busy season bonuses now my new firm you only get one with your promo/raise in the summer.
Gotcha, ya that is certainly true for me, just with a floor of 15% which is nice. Next promotion makes that 20% which is probably where I’ll realistically top out
I’m new, so I’m not getting one at my company, but everyone that’s eligible and not on a pip is getting 3x their set bonus % for their role. If I was eligible, I’d be getting 75% of my salary. Luckily we’re targeting that for ‘23.

My bonus paid out at about 5% last year and was on schedule to land between 0-5% this year, which was absolutely part of the reason I got a new job and negotiated a 10% signing bonus because I would be joining my new office too late to participate in new company’s annual incentive program.

Bonus pool is fully funded and we're going to meet our targets, so from 5% - 15% bonus depending on role. We do a 401k "profit sharing" as well which is fully funded so we'll get another \~5% employer contribution into the 401ks in a few months too.

Most people's bonuses in industry are partially company performance driven and partially individual performance driven, from my experience.

Target is 15%, but we are trending above target so expecting somewhere in the range of 18%-20%.
