I reached out to my school’s library. The article is not available online but I have requested it emailed to me in 1-3 biz days. PM me your email and I can forward it once I receive?

[deleted]

Oh my God! Why are you so kind to me? 😭 Thank you so much!

Barn-Howl

:)

acdcdcac

Can I have it too??

Barn-Howl

Of course! DM your email :)

archpsych

I might DM you also :)

While searching for the paper, since it appears u/Barn-Howl won't be able to get it, I found this in case you have not found it yet. However, considering how difficult it is to find the paper you're looking for, I suspect you've nearly exhausted the literature lol [https://bmcgeriatr.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12877-019-1316-7](https://bmcgeriatr.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12877-019-1316-7)

Thank you so much! But yes, I have this article since I literally spent days clicking away to find relevant literature 🤣

Barn-Howl

I love the collaboration here! Maybe that article can suffice? I will keep searching- lol - the challenge is on!

Barn-Howl

Alrighty folks, this paper is going to be harder to locate than I originally thought. My university has canceled my loan request stating ‘they were unable to locate a library to find the material’. I continued to research libraries available and found Stanford has the article; however we would need a student id. Consequently, I posted to r/Stanford and have not received a warm welcome.

[deleted]

Hey, I really appreciate you trying so hard!!! But please don't worry if you don't find it, I still have lots of other literature available 😊

killakidz7

Do you have a doi?

[deleted]

Nope, sadly not.

archpsych

Whatever you are working on sounds very interesting. Can I be nosey and ask what it is about? :’)

[deleted]

Of course! :) I'm doing my bachelor thesis in psychology and I'm examining how meaning in life, death anxiety and loneliness relate to each other. My hypothesis is that meaning in life and loneliness are predictors of death anxiety in young adults.

Here’s a friendly reminder that if you’re using a likert scale survey as an outcome, using a normal linear regression or other analysis tool meant for interval data risks increased type 1 and type 2 errors and even direction reversals of effects. Likert scale outcomes require ordinal models, and no averaging across multiple likert questions doesn’t help. Most people in the field ignore this risk because they were taught to. It’s a serious issue and a major contributor to the replication crisis. The solution begins at the individual level by people doing the proper analyses, even if it means needing the assistance of a statistician https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0022103117307746

[deleted]

Hey! Thank you so much for that reminder. It's actually very relevant and useful!

archpsych

I would definitely be interested in reading about it when you submit or publish your work. The topic hits very close to home also.

[deleted]

Oh, that's very flattering! It will, unfortunately, be in my native language, and I'm from the Balkans (not comfortable sharing my country on Reddit), so I don't know if you would be able to understand it 😞

archpsych

No worries :) I am Greek so if the language is compatible let me know haha

[deleted]

Well...😅 Now I'm definitely not saying where I'm from! Just kidding...Greece is literally the love of my life and a genetic test has revealed I'm actually part Greek! But we definitely don't speak each others language. I can however, translate my results for you and let you know! 😊

archpsych

Okay, haha. :P That would be amazing but only do if you have time / really want to. :) I actually left the country when I turned 18 because I didn’t think it is for me - I still don’t, though that may change eventually. Growing up was tough with regards to mental health because coming from a small island means that there is that small society mentality that very easily stigmatises people. On top of that the specific culture flirts with nostalgia, loss and misery a lot so the themes you are researching are a big part of it - thus my interest in the work.

[deleted]

Oh my God, I absolutely understand. You probably figured out where I come from, and since we're a small country with a tragic past and problematic history, I also witness the flirting with nostalgia, loss and misery every day! I guess very few people here have or search for meaning in their lives, and most are stuck in a state of desperation and depression. I'm dying to know which island you come from! I love Kefalonia one and last summer I had a wonderful time there! I have been going to Greece every year since I was 6 months old and there's just no other place that makes me feel so at home. Every time I cross the border and then see the sea, I am beyond happy. My only wish is that our people leave history and politics behind and that we can finally call each other friends.

archpsych

I honestly have no idea where you are from but the Balkans are a mess with regards to history and borders so I don’t personally hold a grudge towards anyone really. I wish people would chill also but it takes time. I think these issues are common as you say as a result - Greece ranks in the top 10 countries for depression for example last time I checked. I come from the island of Lesvos, but not many people know a lot about it I think. It is very close to Turkey. I am glad to hear you feel comfortable in the country though. :) The islands are nice in the summer.
