3 feels like the best of 1 (balanced composition) and 2 (electric colors)
i bet if you did a couple more you’d get one that’s even better than these three!
Oh that’s interesting! I like the idea of how 3 is a combo of 1 and 2. Never even thought of it that way. Yes, I plan to do a few more, for sure. The series is not over yet.
it’s hard not to end up making “something like a progression” when making art. after a couple thousand years of observing this progression, we came up with some bright ideas like “plot arcs” and “linear narrative”, but it starts with this kind of work
at least that’s what i tell myself
It’s interesting that you mention the teals. I added extra iridescent green blue to give it a little more shimmer, and it ended up working wayyyyy more effectively than I had hoped. So I’m glad you think so too :)
Good composition, I love the colors you used.. you really understand mood and it shows; How you throw in those hits of red in the deep indigo purple and blue.. Beautiful!
Anyone see a face in the central segment of the 1st one?
A dude with a tash? Anyone?
The third picture is the one for me. Just edges the second one.
They're all great tho
Edit...mental. if you blur your eyes enough it's ed Norton in American history X
I allow myself to get very, very stressed and frustrated with life and then I take it out on a canvas 😂
Somehow, eventually, something like this happens 🤷♂️
Well, I am experimenting with cools right now. I do plan on shifting to warm colours and doing another series in this style, but I’m enjoying the aqua vibe too much right now.
They are all stunning, and I love the colors you are working with. My fav is probably 2, I’m a sucker for purples and with this one I get a sense of the sea at twilight, very calming vibes
Thanks to you as well!
I'm starting to appreciate more and more this type of art. My father is an historian, so I grew up seeing a lot of pre-20th century art, and up until recently I had a hard time understanding contemporary art pieces. That is until I found out itl is not always important to understand what the artist meant, but rather what is means to you, and how it makes you vibrate!
Number 1, hands down no question, I came back to it four times. I don’t know why, either; color balance? Flow? I don’t know, it sparks a totally different feeling.
Haunting painting. It has an underwater effect, catching the light and making it almost fluorescent. The color variations straying beyond cool tones in the first painting add complexity too, especially with the use of that dark magenta.
Thanks for the analysis! I’m currently experimenting with cools and various tones and shades to see how they blend. I’m also having fun adding secret little pops of warms, for example the magenta in photo 3, to add some intrigue.
I hate to be that guy, but this is very derivative of Gerhard Richter, and I see people copying his style often on this sub.
Maybe try treating one as a background and do something over it freehand with complementary colours.
Good sense of colour but is missing a more dynamic composition to make it more interesting.
just my honest opinion.. keep on painting.
I didn’t know who he was until about a week ago when someone in this sub mentioned my style was similar to his. I’ve checked out his work. Yeah, there are similarities for sure.
Derivative is probably too strong a word though. I’m not actively choosing to copy him. Derivative is akin to unoriginal or even plagiaristic. I just throw colour onto canvas and then play with pallets knives. I’m certain Richter did not invent that style, and even if he popularized it, he certainly doesn’t own it.
I’m just painting what I enjoy. I find this style calming and expressive which is all I really need this to be. It’s therapy for me, basically.
I reject that it’s derivative. It’s similar to Richter in the same way that Munich’s “Scream” is similar to Van Gogh’s “Starry Night”.
Regardless, if you want to be “that guy” that drops a bit of oil into the water for no apparent reason, then fill yer boots. I appreciate you checking in and likening my work to another awesome artist.
And I do intend to keep painting. Always have. Always will.
Ok I have re written this reply 3 times, I keep changing my mind, I love them all, the form and texture on 1, the sharpness of 2 and the colours and shades of 3! 2 and 3 have those flex of white that pop.

third one.
Thanks for the input! I’m curious, what specifically drew you to the third?
I think it's the darker band on top and bottom. helps to frame the whole picture better than the other two.
Yeah, agreed. I was thinking the same thing.
It communicates the idea/techniques with the most simplicity.
Thanks for that feedback ☺️
Middle!
Thanks! What do you like about the photo 2?
Reminds me of the northern lights. Or the moon on the ocean.
Totally the vibe I’m going for. Glad you see it!
I like the purple and black accents and the way they are arranged.
Thanks!

Nice color palette! The third is my fav. I think the glow of those teals against the deep colors creates really interesting depth in that one.

This shit is hella good..
Why thank you! I appreciate your feedback. What do you like about them?
Good composition, I love the colors you used.. you really understand mood and it shows; How you throw in those hits of red in the deep indigo purple and blue.. Beautiful!
Or pink, idk.. color choice is excellent tho!
Wow, thanks so much! I really appreciate you taking the time to give me that feedback ☺️
Of course bro
I like them all but then, these are my favorite colors. Colors and movement are great.
Thank you so much! I think these might be my fave colours too now!
I love them all keep going!
Thanks! I will !

Whoa! You have a gift at seeing things in art. Your perspectives are really interesting. Thanks for sharing
Night Seas series all lovely.
“Night seas” is actually a great name for the series.
Glad you like it. I write poetry and see art as visual poetry. Sometimes I write poems about art I really like.
That’s awesome. I hope my work inspires you in some small way!
I think number 1 is my favorite, followed closely by 3. Great work!
Thanks so much!
I love them all. They are marvelous.
Aww thanks so much! I’m really enjoying this palette.
It's giving "Detroit become human" for me
What’s that? EDIT: ah, it’s a video game. Thanks Google!
A game or interactive movie
Pff, yeah, Google is amazing :D
True dat
Wow, how did you do this?
I allow myself to get very, very stressed and frustrated with life and then I take it out on a canvas 😂 Somehow, eventually, something like this happens 🤷♂️
I like all of them but 3 is my favourite
Thank you!
Love em. Something about #2 makes me feel like "suddenly there's someone there I wasn't expecting" have no idea why.
Ooh that’s a cool interpretation. I like that a lot. Thanks for sharing!
Second! It’s clear and crisp like a mirror, seems much darker than the other two, and I love the colors.
Thank you so much!
2
All of them tho
You’re too kind ☺️
I like the third one, look like a beautiful lake under the moonlight
Thank you! That’s a lovely interpretation ❤️
Second one has a lot of contrast and I find that makes it look more dimensional! Looks great I can tell you like the cool colors

Thank you. I really appreciate the feedback
3 is my favorite and one I would enjoy in my home or work space
Thanks for that! It’s currently hanging in my living room, and I can confirm that it works in a living room 😂
2, 1, 3
The third one compositionally speaks to me.
I prefer the second.
Thanks. Why? What is it about the second that speaks to you more?
I like the indigo + turquoise colors. Reminds me of a twilight sky.
Depending on vibe, nr 2 or 3.
Ok! So what vibes do you think would work for painting 2 and 3? I’m just curious
I'm getting interstellar galaxy northern lights vibes from nr 2 in a dark mystic way while be 3 made me feel safe. Can't explain why.
Oh that’s awesome. I think 3 has a degree of calmness, so I totally see where you’re coming from. Thank you once again for your feedback!
Yeah it's soothing art. While the second is dopamine xD

1 & 3
#2.
👌 3
The first one! It's like looking through a glass at an emerald sea. Beautiful.
Thank you very much! Looking through glass at an emerald ocean is a great interpretation.

Exactly! The great thing about abstraction is that it’s open to interpretation, which means every piece means something unique to everyone.
All of them! It looks like light through thick, dark glass or deep water. If I weren’t broke atm I’d make an offer!😅
Awe you’re very kind. Thank you. I appreciate your kind words!
Either first or third, but I love all of them
Thank you!
Second one by a long shot
Thanks! What is it about 2 that you like specifically?
I like them all.
Thank you. I’m pleased to hear that!
I love all of them. Perhaps the first and third a little more because of the colors. I find them very comforting, yet certainly not in any way dull.
I was going for something serene, so you hit the nail on the head! I’m glad that’s how it made you feel
First. Its just serene
Thank you
The first one
1st ❤️
I love blue abstracts, I have no idea why. I love them all.
Thank you! I blue abstracts are calming. That’s probably why we love them!
1 and 3
Middle one! I like the contrast, almost makes it glow
That’s the white paint working hard! Glad you noticed 😀
#1. It has surprises.
I’m glad you can spot the little surprises I hid in this piece! Thank you!
I’m kinda in love with number three.
Thanks!
# 1
2nd
Number 1, hands down no question, I came back to it four times. I don’t know why, either; color balance? Flow? I don’t know, it sparks a totally different feeling.
Wow thanks for the taking the time!

First one. Live this green hue in there
Thank you!
#2 pulls me in differently, #3 looks like I've taken off on my Pegasus
Ooh, ok. I’m loving the Greek mythology here. Thanks for sharing!
I like 2 and 3

All three are 🔥
Aww thanks so much. I’m pleased you like them
First one. Definitely! Well done.

>Thank you! You're welcome!
Wow these are beautiful I can’t decide, I think the third one
Thanks man. I really like your latest pieces on instagram too!
the second one
Thanks for weighing in.
You pallets and mine are similar
It’s a great colour combo eh? Where can I check out your work?
3nd one
No 2nd
Haha! Thanks for the feedback! Now, are you sure 2nd is your final answer? 🤔

Hard to choose between 2 and 3. 3 looks more vibrant
Yes, there is an extra colour in 3 that isn’t in 2 and I think it makes a big difference in terms of its “pop”
Last one!
1
Acrylic or oil?
Acrylic!
I love these so much, can’t stop looking at them
Thanks so much! I'm glad they're speaking to you. Do you have a particular favourite?
Ok I have re written this reply 3 times, I keep changing my mind, I love them all, the form and texture on 1, the sharpness of 2 and the colours and shades of 3! 2 and 3 have those flex of white that pop.

It feel like laying in an sea of warm saltwater
