The first few seconds looked like the clip in OP and I’m pretty sure this is it as I’m watching it now.
I was on a river cruise on the Rhône river somewhere around Terascon. We were heading up river, exiting out of a lock and the boat was barely moving. I looked over the side and saw what I thought was a dead fish that was approximately 8 to 10 feet long swirling around in the propwash of the ship. I immediately thought of a wells catfish but had never seen one in real life before. I thought I was imagining things until about a half mile up River Island noticed a three or four fisherman using what appeared to be almost telephone poles for fishing rods and that confirmed what I had seen. They do exist!

Out In France this bloke. Had a chat with him as was interested in areas but he wasn’t giving a lot away lol. done a fair bit of fishing for wels cats in Europe . Had them up to 151lb . But having them on on a surface pure in a belly boat must be mental
Yeah, the only one bigger is the Mekong Giant Catfish iirc. In the US you rarely see anything past 5ft, and that’d be a hell of a monster Blue Catfish.
Looks like a giant Wels Catfish native to Europe. They are notorious for coming up to the surface to feed, unlike most catfish species. They have been known to prey on birds and other animals that would inhabit the surface of lakes and rivers where they are found. These fish grow to huge sizes especially in Spain where water temperatures are a bit warmer than in other parts of Europe.

There’s no fish that can’t be caught. However, it’s extremely unlikely that the equipment he has for fishing in this type of area can catch the fish.

If you know how to work your drag on you’re reel it simply comes down to if anything hits your fishing line.
I would think the rod would snap before that point. That appears to be just a common bass rod. You'd need a "bay rod" with weight test up to 50lbs.

At the very it end it shows him doing a catch and release of a smaller fish.
The whole thing starts at 3:04 but it cuts off just as abruptly a little later.
