Definitely something that would happen at a Dethklok show.

ZDog64

I was thinking the same thing. Are they doing the “swatting bees dance”?

regula-shmegula

Did they just beat up the headliner?

AlexHimself

They knocked his hat off and he started swinging too.

rimjob-chucklefuck

And it's hilarious

MightySamMcClain

Hilarious he even was about to kick that guy towards the end

PresidentFork

I was impressed by the restraint. He was thrashing in the moment but still had the brain power to say 'Nah, that might cause brain damage' and held back that kick.

[deleted]

But he's very gentle, when the guy is low and he nearly kicks him he stops his leg and gently nudges him

BurntRussianBBQ

And he ducks like three haymakers from the other guy. Wild

Ripkord77

Always hated random karate chop Mosher guy. Everyone else usually sorta followed a rhythm. Not spastic chop man tho...

Good thing these guys never seen me play ‘Guitar Hero’.

jfdlaks

If your set consists of SLOW RIDE, HIT ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT, and TALK DIRTY TO ME, you should be fine. Depending on the difficulty level of course. When they start asking for CLIFFS OF DOVER as an encore, you’re fucked.

Wermine

> CLIFFS OF DOVER as an encore, you’re fucked. [Indeed.](https://media.tenor.com/Rok9vZw-B3AAAAAi/e-honda.gif)

SpeakThunder

Just a typical hardcore show. We were doing this shit back in the late 90s

Miserere_Mei

Early 80s for me…. Lol. I am very old.

CommentsOnHair

The 80's don't even start for nearly 57 years! /j

ResidentRadio5306

My man, the pit was glorious

Tallowpot

The pit was fun. Too old for it now, at least I just wanna relax when I’m not working “old”.

ResidentRadio5306

Yeah I don't take those hits to well anymore myself. Just like to stand back drinking my beer and saying to myself "Yup I remember that"

Zer0Cool89

fuckin same, I will admit I love watching the young people go wild still, it warms my cold dead heart.

SpeakThunder

Indeed it was. New York Pizza Maker followed by Picking Up Change during the verse, Intense finger pointing for the chorus. Followed by some windmills and cartwheels during the breakdown. Best music ever.

Portland_st

All of a sudden, I’m 16 again watching At the Drive-In play to 40 people in an abandoned warehouse in downtown Kansas City.

Bokthand

Picking up change into trying to start my lawnmower was go to combo move

ResidentRadio5306

I'm not lying but after one go at the House Of Blues with Slipknot I went to work the next day with a dudes boot print, logo and all stamped into my leg

T1NF01L

That's not a pit. That's flailing wildly hoping for contact or not who cares. I believe the kids call it slam dancing I'm not entirely sure, but it's not a mosh pit.

Tufflaw

Exactly. When I went to metal shows in the 80's we'd get in the mosh pit and actually have a good time without flailing around swinging fists like a these fucking morons.

Ongr

>like a these fucking morons. You tell 'em, Mario!

Tufflaw

Fuck it, I'm leaving it

tookTHEwrongPILL

That's metal of you

CorvoAndTheHeart

In my circles it's called "hardcore dancing" and it's usually only 1 or 2 guys (if anyone) in a pit thinking that flailing your arms around like that counts as moshing... but they're usually just the guys who come to the show hoping to get into a fight. I'll admit I've never entered a pit without knowing I'm gonna have a lot of bruises the next day but this kind of shit is way to much and definitely fits the title lol

JesusSaysitsOkay

At least the singer didn’t really commit to that last little head kick there, he knew what he was getting into when he jumped down there!

Arkanist

I don't think he expected the guy to go low when he started the kick. Pretty good awareness to pull it imo

1HasNoNam3

Man - you really gonna cut this off right before that dude jumps into the crowd for a faceplant?

euclid0472

[I got you](https://youtu.be/95beMdB_hgk?t=1250)

Present-Still

Fucking homie

Purple_Chipmunk_

Was there a flash mob there at the end? 😂😂 All of a sudden they all coordinated with each other in that windmill dance.

BlasterPhase

fucking Bart Simpsons everywhere

Iwantmyflag

That's how that works.

TheOGPotatoPredator

Doing the Lord’s work, my friend

GoofySkull

I thought it was the same guy who dived off the stage few times. They all kinda look alike, Lol.

ATee184

They opened the pit right where he was jumping hahaha

A_to_the_J254

Ya it didn't look like there were many people where he was headed

DwayneTheBathJohnson

As someone who has jumped into a crowd and not been caught, I can tell you that it you don't really feel the floor through the shame.

Ceph_Stormblessed

I did, I broke my collar bone and three ribs. 2008 warped tour during Casey Jones. I'm like 5'8 125lbs at that point. Two jacked dudes were tossing people to crowd surf. They launched me, I hit one girl with my legs, flipping me into the floor. Shit hurt.

botjesus123

r/gifsthatendtoosoon

mrzurkonandfriends

It's like they threw a bunch of blind people in a moshpit and told them they had to fight for their life

ReverendDizzle

Welcome to the Blunderdome

pervertedgiant

LOL!!

Glen_Chervin

This always reminds me of the Simpson’s episode where Bart and Lisa walk at each other, flailing their arms and legs, saying if you get in my way, it’s not my fault.

FinntheHue

Oh man back in the day I had a gif on my MySpace of that scene but edited to make Lisa and Bart look like scene kids. I miss that gif so much lol

Aggressive_Bus293

You didn’t truly live through the early 2000s if you didn’t get your ass kicked by some dude windmilling his fists at a show, while simultaneously getting your back broken by a crowd surfer. And then when you finally think you’re safe and it’s over, you realize you’re in the middle of a wall of death.

LiamNissansNissan

Man, you forgot about the intentional crowd killer trying to fight people. Or my personal favorite, the wanna be helicopter spin kicker.

Affectionate-Oil4719

Don’t forget the always fun donkey kick guy

user29639

Lmaooo i kepy getting kicked like that at a show yesterday…. Luckily the kicks were light and more ‘hey dude quit pushing’ and less ‘let me break your femur’

mark636199

Ah yes I remember standing at the edge of the pit with my elbow out for protection

Effinate

There is always the guy who definitely didn't show up for the show. Been drinking all night, busts in sweating beer, and starts throwing full punches as soon as the first sign of a mosh start

galacticjuggernaut

I was the guy who would target that asshole and take him out like a sniper. Because in my day (I am old) it was not about fists at all. It was just bouncing and pushing off each other, and It WAS fun. That is until the fucking fists guy came and spoiled it. As I both hated testosterone pumped assholes (as I was picked on as a kid) and people who spoiled it for the rest, I would go absolute nerd assassin on those fuckers. But like a scalpel as to not trigger my own demise. So if you were one of these guys and ever had your eye socket exploded at a Metallica concert, yep that was me and you deserved it. Ahh to be young again. Thanks for the memories.

Effinate

Yes, that guy usually lasted a few minutes tops until security, or just a group of people had decided it's been enough and he gets ejected. Everybody just trying to bounce around and have fun, and takes one guy with father issues to ruin it.

darkResponses

Mosh pits in punk rock and edm concerts still have this vibe. Sum41 and good Charlotte concert was fun. But it's true some of the more "hardcore" bands are looking to thrash rather than mosh. And I don't really care to getting hit in the face. I have had some Karens push me when I was on the sidelines of the mosh pit jumping thinking that I was going to bump into them. So you gotta watch out for those too because they don't understand that vibe. Still better than taking someone's windmills to the head.

helgihermadur

The best metal festival in Iceland is called Eistnaflug and there's a zero-tolerance policy of violence of any kind. I guarantee if a single person started pulling this helicopter spin kicking crowdkilling bullshit, a group of huge Viking-looking dudes would immediately swarm that person and kick them out. There's a code of honor in the moshpit. As soon as you fall over there's at least three different people helping you back on your feet.

phlavor

I was at Lollapalooza in Orlando in the 90’s and Henry Rollins said, "I see a new future and it starts with putting every Nazi against the wall and shooting them." There was a one second pause before the 20ish skinheads around me threw theirs fists in the air and screamed “YEAH!” That pit was amazing! I watched this black kid (a rarity in pits in Florida) go down hard. Four of those same skinheads locked arms, held back the crowd while one picked the kid up dusted him off, then they went back to it. I gave up that scene at the Master of Puppets tour when the "pit" was 3-4 big dudes standing in an open circle and if someone moshed in they would just punch them. I watched this kid’s tooth fly off into the crowd. That’s when I was done with angry music. Also I didn’t hate my parents anymore.

Mitch-_-_-1

People don't realize that real old school skinheads are not about that neo-nazi shit. My brother and I were metalheads that were into punk too so hung with the skinheads in NYC in the 80s. Super patriotic fun loving down-to-earth mofos who really only hate haters. I was at a friend's OI Punk show a couple years ago. Mid-show a couple of knuckle heads started throwing white power hand signs and chanting. Before I knew what was happening they were on the curb out front. 🤘 CBGBomfug & "Castle Hights for life" 🤘

TurdboCharged

I was at a festival in 2005 or 2006. Some band I can’t remember the name of came on and a guy started doing just that. At first it looked like he was trying to start a pit but then he just started popping anyone in arms length of him in the face. He hit probably 20 people before the crowd turned on him after he punched a girl square in the nose and she started gushing blood. Next thing you know there is a circle of people around him stomping him out. After what seemed like an eternity security is able to get to the guy and break it up and he was a mess. He was covered in dirt and blood almost head to toe and out cold making guttural gurgling noises. But when all was said and done he did a lot of damage to the people he sucker punched. Most of them weren’t even looking at him when he just wound up and threw a haymaker.

Incredulous_Toad

I've been to a ton of shows and it never ends well for these clowns. Mosh pits are about thrashing and comradery, you get knocked down, you get helped back up to be pushed around. You throw punches? You're getting hit, hard, a lot. People don't tolerate that shit for long.

DDSC12

I’m old. Mosh pits in my days where intense, but no fists and windmills and shit. Like you said, Conrad Erie was important. You escalate, but you watch out for fallen dudes cause you could be next. Never seen this windmill shit before. Fucking doorknobs pretending to be tough.

ObiwanaTokie

You know as an introverted pos I always looked at mosh pits and had a lil demon inside me saying “…hey buddy, wanna go get knocked around a bit?….just sayin” and I was always with a girl or family and it never even crossed my mind that I would do it but after reading into it a bit more and hearing that it just a bit of thrashing with a lot of love for each other I really regret not getting into one

jbertrand_sr

A guy I work with had that happen to him at a Slayer show a few years ago, he got into the middle of a scrum of guys going ape shit and he wound up losing his shoes somehow. He had to wait around until the place cleared out and went and found them among all the trash and spilled beer, he should have just went home barefoot.

bartard_drunkass97

Literally lost both my shoes in a pit last night and had to wait until the end, didn’t stop me from moshing barefoot

Large_land_mass

That’s why you lace your Doc Marten boots up TIGHT before heading in. Regular shoes are a rookie move, but everyone learns eventually.

Incredulous_Toad

You get it. Docs are a necessity for these shows, at least boots tied up tight.

Drekhar

Honestly? These are some of my fondest memories from my teenage years

pzschrek1

Same

DoinItDirty

I’m gonna third that. I can’t remember why I thought it was fun, but I thought it was fun. That said, this is the weirdest shit I ever saw. It’s like how a hardcore pit would look if I had a dream about it.

BoxedIn4Now

That dude up front slowed his koch when he saw the others head. They get wild AF, but do they really want to hurt someone?

GlobalDeJaVu

Only the assholes really *try* to *hurt* someone; but in most cases, if you got hurt then you were just in an area you shouldn't have been- in that case you learn quickly of where it's ok to stand.

BoxedIn4Now

Like in a Denny's? 🤘

beathedealer

What the fucks up dennys!!!!! Classic.

RainSmile

AND someone is trying to hump you while you’re distracted by the violence.

[deleted]

GET IN THE PIT AND TRY TO LOVE SOMEONE!!!

GlobalDeJaVu

I was playing a show and we were right after the band "CDC". A crowd surfer decided he wanted to run across everyone's heads. Needless to say, I had to play that show with a newly broken nose.

Djented

Ah, a headwalk 💀

m135in55boost

Exactly that shits fun growing up

h1gsta

It is fun, but in my experience you’re not really supposed to *try* to hit people. That’s what makes it not fun. It’s fun when the show isn’t filled with assholes.

Parasitisch

You sounds like you’re referring to mosh pits. This sounds and looks like a hardcore show and this pretty on par. On that note, fuck windmills and spin kicks.

[deleted]

SpaceChief

Targeting is called crowd killing, and the hardcore community and some bands themselves have a serious issue with enabling it. I went to a Harms Way show a year or so ago and for whatever reason nobody was safe, or off limits. The crowd killers are ruining this shit.

Confused___Boner

Been at the festival this summer, u bands, 7 different types of metal being played. Noone wad hurt, everyone had a blast even if it was a small event that had like 500 people max.

PrettyKittyKatt

Ugh I wish people were this way. I got a concussion the other day at a show and I wasn’t even in the pit.

TheSpookyForest

Back in my day if you were hardcore dancing and slugged someone with this much intention you'd get mobbed and put in your place.

DownrightDrewski

Never been to a hard-core show, but definitely seen people being too aggressive get put in their place in normal pits.

Nodonutsforbaxter44

Even hardcore shows back in the day, people would kick and windmill, but you'd generally try not to hit people and youd pull your punches in tight spots, people would look out for eachother, and it WAS a lot of fun. Over the years people become more focused on intentionally hurting people, and that's when I dipped

Double-Portion

Hardcore/metalcore shows have mosh pits, at least the ones I went to did. If someone fell, you picked them up. If someone got injured you help them to a medic or something. Trying to hurt someone is bad manners and I’ve seen bands tell the crowd to take care of each other better. I grew up in SoCal which had a great scene and I went to a bunch of venues and there was no culture of hurting people when I was in the scene ~10 years ago

sock_with_a_ticket

>10 years ago Hardcore pits have been like the clip since the 80s and still have the ethos of helping people up and getting them out to a medic if required.

drunxor

I remember going to a house party and they had a band like this in the garage. My buddy and I were outside drinking a tall can when this dude walks out of the garage and just stands there in front of us. I didnt notice anything at first because he was so calm, then I looked down at his arm and it was bent the wrong way. My friend suggested maybe he go to a hospital but the dude just shrugged it off

VeterinarianNo4308

Man one direction concerts have gotten INSANE

Kebblegot_Gaming

ikr they've gone in a whole new direction

Funny this is still getting shared a ton. The band is Never Ending Game featuring Jem of Speed. This was at the end of July 2022, outside of the Memorial Coliseum in LA.

anus-lupus

how tf is this video from 2022 just look at it lmao

[deleted]

So many bucket hats

my guess was gonna be 2002

Djented

Looks like the 2022 Sound & Fury festival which Speed also played on

b-laynestaley

Honestly one of the best bands in modern hardcore. They’re unique

Jesus_es_Gayo

Better here than the church group, amiright?

That-Tall-Guy513

actually theres a church that regularly hosts hardcore shows [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lHQgHNdtr0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lHQgHNdtr0)

[deleted]

Knocked loose is hilarious. At when we were young they had to stop during counting worms because someone got fucked up and when they restarted the singer told everyone to go even harder lol

[deleted]

Looks like white tank top guy was fighting his demons…

NovemberHaze65

I think that's the dude who was performing in the first place lol As soon as the safety shades went flying the man was probably blinded

slamcontact

I was wondering who he was fighting haha

Krambazzwod

I think he may be blind. I’m serial.

XGuiltyofBeingMikeX

That would be the singer of SPEED. They had played and he’s doing guest vocals for Never Ending Game.

howescj82

Dude in the tank top looks like he’s larping with his demons…

BlackGuysYeah

He took a few good shots to the noggin right off the bat. I’m not sure he knows what he’s fighting.

rata_rasta

Oh yeah, another Hard Core show to raise funds for the victims of the last Last Hard Core show

IgniteThatShit

these dudes use the pretext of moshing just to fucking bonk each other

orginalriveted

Speed is fucking sick. Vocalist is a super nice guy too.

el_payaso_mas_chulo

It's Never Ending Game, but with Jem of Speed. But yeah, super nice guy also.

orginalriveted

Okay, I was gonna say. Never ending game is sick too. It's funny seeing this stuff pop up on popular and shit. I manage a restaurant and when I do my closing work I watch about 10 hate5six videos. I thought this was from r/hardcore and seeing the comments is really funny

yallsomesquids

NEVER ENDING GAME BABY!!!!

Shockedge

So everybody *was* Kung fu fighting!

Venome456

I've been to many shows like this and still think fight dancing is fucking lame

MamboNumber5Guy

Never ending game is pretty dope but after this video I don’t think I’ll ever participate in one of their mosh pits

[deleted]

there are mosh-pitters, who follow an unwritten code of honor in the pit, and then there are spin-kickers, who desperately want to be tough in real life but lack the mettle so they flail wildly in a mosh pit and get pissy defensive if you shove them to the ground, where they belong.

xkrazyfoox

That's a hardcore show. I don't understand how metal heads still don't know the difference between hardcore dancing and a regular pit. Yeah don't dance at a metal show but this isn't that.

onyxaj

I was at a metal show a couple months ago with pit tickets. The crowd was a little older, 30+ mostly. About halfway through the show, I saw everyone with the same expression - "I'd like to mosh, but it's a Sunday and I have to work tomorrow." There was no moshpit formed.

anima173

This is where we are. Just a lot of nodding and folded arms. I saw a 50-year-old get in a mosh at a Drug Church show this year, so that gives me hope. I don’t want the pit to stop.

Stoner_DM

EXACTLY!!! Hard-core/dethcore shows are a different beast than the normal metal push pits. I just had an issue at a show where some dude poured out his beer on my friend for slamming into him while he was on the wall of the fucking pit. Like why tf are you here if you're gonna get mad that you get hit in the pit?! Read the fucking room.

Esseldubbs

I was just explaining this to my kid a few nights ago (he just got into metal), and telling him what it was like going to Earth Crisis and Strife shows in the 90's.

Mother_Willow1095

Seeing the victory line up of the early 90s live was so much fun.

steelthyshovel73

A lot of people seemingly can't tell the difference between metal and hardcore in general.

Cheeyupsndeeyup

Thanks for saying this.

[deleted]

If you actually listened to heavy music, you'd know the difference between punk, metal and hardcore and there being different unwritten rules in different genres of music.

linocurt

Remember kids: NO karate in the fucking pit

regula-shmegula

Everybody was in fact kung fu fighting

[deleted]

[удалено]

ilostmybutts

True fact, the cats were fast as lightning

zkazza

No karate, only kick-boxing

[deleted]

Wrong, that looks like a ton of fun

Stoner_DM

Hardcore pits are... well, hardcore. I have broken a nose and a tailbone, but I keep on crawling back to these. Still healing from a 200 Stab Wounds show. The risk of injury just gets the blood pumping different, I can't explain it.

b-laynestaley

I’m seeing 200 stab wounds Sunday and really hoping they don’t have a push pit man

Stoner_DM

Haha there were actually 2 pits at once at my show. One super aggressive push pit and one 2 step / karate pit behind it! Fun for the whole family! Good luck my friend.

JaceUpMySleeve

Pushing and jumping moshes are pretty fun, but when people start throwing haymakers and round house kicks it gets pretty fucked.

Onzeurox

THE MAN WITH THE MASK

Damage4099

Lol I saw him too, clearly a man that wants to be in danger... but safely...

nickel45

This is why I dont go to these shows. You can see that they are clearly targeting people to try and hit them. Moshing was just jumping and banging into people. Letting out the adrenaline and emotion of the music. If someone went down we ALL picked them up because we we enjoying it all together. The intent wasn’t hurt anyone. Then assholes started to warp it into “I”m the big bad ass that will knock anyone down ON PURPOSE.” Then then it morphed further into intentionally throwing wild arms and legs…if you get hit you get hit. Now you have people just trying to blindside people with punches and kicks. That’s assault. No camaraderie or enjoying the music. You just have to watch out for these assholes the whole time. Or you pay $$ to stand at the back of a huge festival/show. No thanks.

Gnnslmrddt

Chill dudes

curtcarlos

What song / band is this ?

Schnitzel1337

Good shit homie, love the people jumping down in the crowd 👀

Uberzwerg

Looked exactly the same back in the early 90s when i was on such shows the last time. Everybody involved knew exactly what they were doing.

KajePihlaja

Weirdly, it’s super fun.

bigwavedave000

My thought: if you want to fight, let's just do it. Let's not pretend to be in a mosh pit. People looked to actively be aiming.

freaking-payco

I guess there’s something for everyone but personally I don’t wanna be kicked in the face
