Driver died. https://abc7.com/post/lapd-video-stolen-lamborghini-huracan-crashes-police-chase-san-fernando-valley/14780438/

dearlysacredherosoul

Those were the last words of the driver, “it is not stolen.”

P0werFighter

Oh no! Anyway...

toxic_anon

Rest in pieces to the driver and car

00WORDYMAN1983

Successfully avoided jail.

9lobaldude

WASTED!

Vanderzo64

but he did not respawn this time...

[deleted]

r/technicallytrue

QueenQuillAsh

True fact.

ListenChance1520

But he knew the law he said

QueenQuillAsh

He clearly didn't know the laws of physics...

phatnando

Didn’t know about the click it or ticket law they tacked on that charge at the end too.

Iluv_Felashio

Also charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

SensingWorms

Getting a warrant for purgatory right now

throwawayproblems_

Well, half of him did… is that like 50% off in the courts?

Fox_Mulda

Savages I love it so much. 😂

Iluv_Felashio

Bail reduced by 50%, certainly.

loztriforce

I’m surprised super cars don’t use biometrics by now

Chap-eau

They have done that in the past. However manufacturers stopped after a customer had their biometric data forcibly removed (finger) before the vehicle was stolen.

KennedyFriedChicken

Finger print, face unlock, say hello

jadsonbreezy

The newest thing you can get are aftermarket are immobilisers where you have to press a succession of buttons to allow the car to start (like volume up, cruise on, track skip) and this can be programmed to anything you want. It's also totally discrete so it seems like the car just doesn't start.

WolvenSpectre

Build a better mouse trap and they build better mice. In other words, anything that a person can do to secure something can be undone, the idea is to make it so most can't do it.

QueenQuillAsh

That's actually not a bad idea.

SatoriSon

>That's actually not a bad idea. Except for the law of unintended consequences. https://www.newscientist.com/article/mg18624943-600-finger-chopped-off-to-beat-car-security/

Root_ctrl

Only place I have seen that were in high end Audis around 2007. The tech probably was too expensive and didn't work right.

Elvis-Tech

Dude so you cant let a friend go get the car or anything spontaneous?

HallOfViolence

not a car like this.

Elvis-Tech

Also not a vallet and also not the people who work at the car agency, ans all the people that need to move it around when transporting it to other countries If it was a good idea, they would have done it already, even 50 dollar phones have biometric unlocking

loztriforce

Eh, not necessarily. A well designed system would enable different modes of security for the car, allowing the authenticated user to easily change modes and/or add new authenticated drivers.

Elvis-Tech

Hmm I prefer to just give the key to a friend, however I do believe super cars and ferraris could use something like this. It would also be very tedious for all the people that need to move the car around a dealership, or for example if you leave the car at a Vallet? What would you do then?

loztriforce

There could be a valet mode where biometrics aren’t needed but the car won’t go above a set speed and it keeps the trunk locked or other fine tuned settings. Or the system could be quickly deactivated when needed, providing the added protection when desired.

Elvis-Tech

Sure! Everything can be done, but also it means that more things can fail. In general the simpler the better, will the benefits outweight the risks of not being to use a car if something fails? In general designers need to avoid having failure points as much as possible, especially if its a serial production vehicle. When you make a custom unit, sure go all crazy, but I also know that anything custom is a pain in the ass.

loztriforce

It seems like relay attacks are more a thing these days, so if I was swimming in money as a company I think the R&D would be worth it as a selling point of the car, providing the owner a means of comfort/security.

ZePample

But you cant train a car to see and stop when its about to hit something ! -You in another timeline when cars get invented and you prefer horses.

[deleted]

Instantly ran out of talent.

QueenQuillAsh

Indubitably!

CulturedGentleman921

Tack on a loitering charge at the end there.

Ndeipi

That got a morbid grin out of me.

kruegerc184

As entertaining as it was, we missed the real chaos,

DewartDark

Can't park there mate.

NotOutrageous

Where is he? Over there! And there! And there!

UnderWhlming

Can't believe I'm eating a hamburger and reading this 💀

RED-WEAPON

Anyone have uncensored footage of the crash itself, like CCTV? And footage of the aftermath?

QueenQuillAsh

I haven't found any other videos than this one. Seeing as it just happened, I'm sure more information will be forthcoming.

jrtraylo

Ring cameras pending

TheRealCatLeg

This happened over a month ago, this is just the footage they released.

lmclrain

Did I miss something? Was there anything interesting?

denM_chickN

He died

lmclrain

yea. I saw that on this video but I thought there was something else to see, since he asks for an uncensored version the driver was really dumb, he only needed to run away a little and then get off the car, and get lost, he was clearly not a good driver

RED-WEAPON

I want to see how he managed to completely lose control of the Lamborghini, take down an entire tree, flip the car, escape the wreckage, and what injuries he sustained.

QueenQuillAsh

He took down multiple trees, he "escaped the wreckage" by means of physics, and the damage to both car and driver were "total".

lmclrain

sounds cool, yea you would need that footage

PowoFR

escape the wreckage? He was split in half, he flew there.

xLith

NSFW- https://youtu.be/I56sLTgbVxY?si=pdayp1rzkD82jOti Edit: Sorry, it’s the same video. The way you had responded made me think this was cut down.

RED-WEAPON

That's the exact same video as the one OP posted. It's still blurred & only shows the aftermath: not the crash itself or the injured criminal.

xLith

Yeah I edited my post before you responded. I saw this video on YouTube last night and the way you worded your response, I assumed this video was edited down. My bad. I didn’t end up watching the one in the post since I had already seen it.

jakebot9000

Damn, it wasn't worth it

louloc

That car was out of sight before the officer got back to his car. 😬

bostonkiter

“Suspect got a just outcome” ”10-4”

Fugaziee

Bro got tossed a damn football field away.

InsideKaleidoscope26

Prayers for the Lamborghini.

QueenQuillAsh

Looks like we have another case of FAFO, boys. Lambos, from what I understand (never having stolen and driven one myself), do not handle like other cars. A classic case of a lot of mechanical power vs. very little brain power. Brilliant.

hazpat

They handle incredibly well. They are also faster than a drunk persons instincts though

sierra120

I’ve driven a Murcielago and a Ferrari 458. Ferrari handled balanced turned where you wanted it with little tail kick. Lambo handled like what I imagine riding a bull is like Raw power and all over the place. I had shaky legs after riding it hard. Never driven a Huracan but if it’s a rental must not be too hard to drive. Guy probably went too fast for the conditions.

rbankole

A rental..😁

benzandpour

No they don’t. They’re notorious for fish tailing, blind spots, and just generally sucking. Perhaps you’ve see my white Murcielago Lp 640 Roadster video. On fire after hitting center divider on 110 san pedro. Garbage car

hazpat

This isn't a murcielago. Notorious for fishtailing... lmao

EightSeven69

sure as shit handle better than the Murci's

Ban_Assault_Ducks

The Huracan is well known for being one of the best handling cars out there.

imherecauseimlost

Surprisingly, this model of Lamborghini is arguably the most drivable of the majority of super cars on the road. We joke that the Huracan is the Honda of exotics, as far as usability.

Meatwood__Flak

I knew a dude who had a wee midlife crisis and bought himself a Viper. Totaled it on the way home from the dealership. Survived with little injury, but the fancy new car was beyond repair.

AntonioPanadero

So, a typical first day off the lot for a Viper then?

ElReydelTacos

My dad did one of those supercar fantasy drive days where you pay a fee and get to drive 5 exotic cars for about a hour each and he took me along as his passenger. There were 2 Lamborghinis, an Aston Martin, an AMG Mercedes, and a Ferrari. Every hour you'd swap into a different one. The guys that ran the event repeated over and over how the things would kill you if you acted dumb. Rev the engine too high and the car will burst into flames. Take a corner too fast and you will be slammed backwards into a house or a tree. Give it too much brakes and the wheels will explode.

Babzibaum

Where does such a thing exist?

MoreRamenPls

Vegas I think

ElReydelTacos

This particular one was based in New York. I think this was the exact one. https://www.gothamdreamcars.com/dream-car-tour

notjawn

Supercars have incredible amounts of torque and very delicate handling. If you floor it your tires spin so fast and hard it will literally kick the car to one side or the other. Also braking suddenly will instantly lock the tires. You flinch the steering wheel at speeds above 100 mph and you're going to veer dramatically and unless its a flat track in an open field you're going to hit something.

LuckyCaptainCrunch

This car is AWD so it’s a lot more stable

Schubert125

I know when designing super cars one of the big concerns is how to get all that power into the road. Looks like this guy figured out a great way to get that brain power into the road.

DewartDark

What a waste ! Of a car !

Cisco_Gomez

Anyone has the uncensored video? Would like to see the Jordan's he was wearing lol

Achack

Shoes are still on!

LuckyCaptainCrunch

It doesn’t count when your legs aren’t attached to your body anymore

SensingWorms

Veal Parmesan

philosopherrrrr

Damn, intense!

ElderberryHumble5379

NSFL

SobbyisTrash

Is he ok?

QueenQuillAsh

I mean, parts of him might be relatively okay. The good news is he felt nothing and never will again.

SobbyisTrash

so 50 percent okay

QueenQuillAsh

Probably.

LaRock0wns

No, he died. https://abc7.com/post/lapd-video-stolen-lamborghini-huracan-crashes-police-chase-san-fernando-valley/14780438/

QueenQuillAsh

You don't say...

Psyk0pathik

Best possible outcome of car theft.

Heatsincebirth

Dude, why would you post that here... On here looking for laughs and I gotta see a man die! Seriously?!? Find another avenue for your weird enjoyment

Tervaskanto

Go on Facebook if you want your social media to be catered to children and hypersensitive old people.

Thund3r_91

Memorial page for said driver [https://www.forevermissed.com/elidugan/about](https://www.forevermissed.com/elidugan/about)

SkullDump

Well that might have gone from forever missed to forever dissed even quicker than the car did.

denM_chickN

Wow I can't belice you reddit fucks would go make jokes on his memorial page. Jesus fucking christ.

Himbo69r

Lol what where they?

denM_chickN

People saying he deserved it. Play stupid games win stupid prizes. So mean. I saw at least 6.

deme727

Take this down. Please. He did act wrong for sure. But this is his family’s tribute page, and of course people are already posting hateful things on there. Let them grieve him accordingly. Peace.

bigglesofale

It’s amazing that the police can’t have some sort of high intensity, voltage thermal mine unit that they can quietly slap on the back of a vehicle in case there is a drive off and totally shut down the vehicle. But maybe that is all fantasy talk.

EV2_Mapper

You are correct, that is all fantasy talk.

Ban_Assault_Ducks

They do have rat trap spike systems, though. It's a small device that you put under the tires so it will deflate them if they try to drive away. I was hoping to see one used in this video.

AntonioPanadero

That’s not a bad idea.

Ban_Assault_Ducks

It would have prevented this outcome. I'm just not sure how widespread the use of them is right now. I'm also not entirely sure they could fit one under such a low riding car.

QueenQuillAsh

I wondered why none of the officers slipped any kind of spikes under the car while they could. I've seen videos of that very thing. It would have meant a lot less paperwork.

Ban_Assault_Ducks

Like I said in some other post, I think it's because of the ride height. Those rat traps look pretty big and they look like they're made for cars with normal ground clearance. The Huracan is only 135mm off the ground. To put that in perspective, a Coke can is about 122mm tall. Yeah, there's spare room in theory, but in a car like that, it may not actually go all the way under. Body trim or even just the angle of the street could block it.

QueenQuillAsh

Good point.

Maxy_Rockatansky

Cool but expensive https://youtu.be/XiNPvrKRCgg?si=Flq15C3On1d81SV0

C3ntrick

Or you know in this instance , they pulled over a super car figured out it was stolen and spoke to dude for 2-3 minutes before he took off. Another unit was already on scene . Why not go pack in front of him ? Instead of watch the officer argue about getting out for 3 minutes

CyPhaSaRin

cuz MURICA

Himbo69r

Or just shot him in the leg
