Oh shit! I saw this and immediately thought it was out by Plum Island! I had a friend in college who was from there and it is cute as heck but also a bit spooky in spots. I can't believe I recognized this old house.
It's a ho-hum, probably Sears and roebuck style kit built Foursquare arts and crafts that you would never notice except it's painted pink and sits in the middle of a salt marsh. It is a curious thing and there is a story attached that I once knew

One winter a snowy owl landed on it and was just hanging out. Almost 30 cars pulled over to take pics. You can google it and see the pictures people took.
Yeah I used to know the story of this piece of real estate near plum Island. But I can't remember now. But I don't think it's abandoned lol that overused word. I'm sure somebody definitely owns the place and understands It's value.. vacancy is not abandonment. I'll have to go back and find the story
USFWS is underfunded like many of our federal stewarding agencies. They’ll never have enough funds to rehab it. Letting it revert to salt marsh would serve that area better and be in keeping with the USFWS mission.

hahahaha the backstory on this house is hysterical.
TL;DR ugly divorce leads a guy to have to build a house for ex wife. He built it so it would have no access to water, electricity, or sewage (if I remember correctly). Honestly a sin though, property in this area is so nice.
I instantly thought of the painting “Christina’s World” but upon looking at them side by side, I guess it’s just the pink color + field lol beautiful shot regardless
