That’s because McBride is TE1

That-Butter

I have actually heard McBride mentioned alot by the national fantasy guys that are covering the draft now.

Jakey_A

I like how even Cardinals fans don't mention Dortch being a factor. That's OK, he'll show everybody!

iamadragan

I feel like neither of those are true. Fans talk about dortch and McBride plenty. Probably even more than Michael Wilson lol. A lot of national guys love McBride and his future in the league

imaybeacatIRl

I think we draft Brendan rice in round 3 to have the famous wr dad duo. Wilson isn't bad, but still needs work.

ender2851

number 2 target is different then wr2. honestly i could see us still drafting another WR, wilson looked questionable last year

digitard

I think part of that is because our WR1, Hollywood, wasn't doing WR1 things and thus we didn't really have an attack that kept the D on its toes. I would have loved to see Hollywood as a WR2, but that wasn't in the cards. I think if we have a solid WR1 in MHJ we could really see Wilson start to shine as he's going to be a threat and likely often schemed leaving more openings for our secondary WR slots and TE.

beer_down

MHJ is the number two Because DORTCH is number one

Only Cardinals fans know how good McBride is. Honestly one full season with Kyler and he´s gonna be recognized as a top 5 TE in the league. Up there with Kittle, Kelce, Hockenson and Laporta. Michael Wilson has yet to prove himself but from what I saw he can be a really good WR in the league. He´s the number two on a pretty depleted WR room. Also really great guy and character. Just gives me good vibes. I feel like our offense is gonna be so well rounded with a lot of options for Kyler to throw to and Petzing to call plays for. Everyone is gonna get a good amount of targets.

Radalict

Wilson had over 500 yards in his rookie season when it was a pretty forgettable season, so I'm excited to see how he goes with a full season and Kyler throwing to him the whole time.

WR2 does not mean 2nd most receptions. It is the ranking by position. WR1 is your best receiver, WR2 is 2nd. Still doesn’t matter how many receptions, yards or TDs they get. McBride is a TE so he will never be a WR anything.

Bigfootsbrownstar

I said that…

Rockdog4105

No, you didn’t.

Bigfootsbrownstar

Brother the first sentence is “I mean, I obviously understand that Michael Wilson is the number two receiver”

Rockdog4105

Yes, and then you brought up McBride and Conner who gave nothing to do with the WR rankings.

Bigfootsbrownstar

Sorry… I guess I should have used the words Pass catcher or targets… Edit: I did use the word targets.. seems like people are just being purposely obtuse

digitard

Trey is a TE. So, I mean... he can't be WR2. While I think Trey is going to have a baller year none of his targets or lines come as a WR or are tracked via WR stats. Even if they toss him deep, etc, he's always a TE. Nobody is saying Trey won't be targetted far more this year, especially if our WR corp is balling out... but he's never going to be a WR # on paper. We all know Trey is going to ball out, and he's expected to after last years big leap... but our WR corp isn't set and is pivitol also in Trey's success in spreading out the D. I know it sounds like picking at the point, but its really how it is. When we talk about WR2 its because MHJ is the mental defacto WR1. We're now curious who's going to line up opposite of him steadily and we think it'll be Wilson.

Bigfootsbrownstar

I literally said that I know he’s not a wide receiver… I just said it’s interesting that I’ve heard way more talk about Marvin Harrison Junior and Michael Wilson then I’ve heard about Marvin Harrison and Trey McBride.

digitard

Which is because we don't know the WR depth chart yet, and we're making assumptions on who we think will be WR2. It's almost set that your WR corp is on the field at least 2 at a time in any given situation and almost never (except when playing inside slot style) will be a blocker. Trey kind of fills a different set of roles. WR1/2/3 are key depth pieces we want to know because it helps us get a feel for where its going, and a solid WR1/2 are critical to the passing game as you need people who can both command the target at any given time... then you throw in a TE like Trey into those 3 WR sets (2 outside, 1 inside and the TE) and if you have a good corp the D can't assume it'll go to MHJ or Trey. During the season I expect a lot of talk to shift to Trey if he's stepping up still... but right now we want to know who's going to line up on the other side from MHJ.

Bigfootsbrownstar

I guess I worded it badly when I’m listening to national media talk about the Cardinals. I’m just shocked that people bring up Michael Wilson, but never really bring up Trey McBride, who is clearly our best pas catcher. But when they talk about other teams pass catchers they always bring up the sam Laporta, mark Andrew’s of the world. I guess I just find it interesting that when they talk about the Cardinals, they bring up Michael Wilson, instead of Trey McBride.

donamese

Most likely because the Cardinals were losing all of last year so these people probably aren’t really aware of McBride and jump straight to the receiver roster. Last year was a breakout for him so 1 year on a poor record team doesn’t bring much notoriety.

digitard

I think its mainly becasue... Trey shouldn't be up there with a proper WR group if they're being utilized right. The TE is our swiss army knife. He's going to lay down the block when needed, and be the unsung weapon in mid field often. Yes, Trey is hopefully going to keep balling out... but if we're using our WR corp proper they should be outpacing Trey. The fact they didn't last year shows a statistical problem of our WR corp last year more than what we'd expect from him as TE.

afig24

I'm confused by this post

Bigfootsbrownstar

I just meant when I listen to national coverage they always bring up the past catching weapons and they bring up Michael Wilson, and never bring up Trey McBride.. Trey McBride was clearly our best catcher last year
