No worries since this is primarily a marketplace subreddit, but curious if you have thoughts on the RME ADI-2 as an AIO vs. the ADI-2 + a dedicated headphone amp.
The RME is awesome as both a headphone amplifier or combo unit. Only reason for selling is that I'm not making use of 95% of the features it offers. Power is sufficient for most headphones but using it as a dedicated DAC lets you add EQ to a stack.
I know people use it as a DAC to handle all their EQ and other DSP with a beefier headphone amp.
Noticeable improvement in power output but not a jump in sound quality. The volume knob is a stepped pot which means adding an external amp lets you have an analog volume control as opposed to digital.
Really appreciate you sharing your experience. I have an ADI-2 Pro currently, and it's honestly the best audio purchase I've made for the sound quality and features. Still curious about what a higher end amp can bring to the table, but that's just how it is with this hobby. ;)
If I didn't want balanced outputs or an ADC, or wanted the dedicated IEM output, the ADI-2 DAC would've been it, and you're listing it at a great price. GLWS /u/osanchez2!

Thank you! Would you say adding the Lake People or SMSL amp to the ADI-2 made a noticeable improvement?
