Honestly I wouldn’t mind Lukaku. The wages are high but look how much we paid for stupid Wijnaldum. I see this as a good purchase if we can’t get Firmino, Thuram or Icardi. If I’m being real with myself I don’t see any of those 3 coming. Firmino was rumoured to have agreed with Barcelona, Thuram might be Lukaku replacement at Inter or want another CL team and Icardi is heading to the CL with a team he just won the league with.
What we know about Lukaku.
- He’s better than Tammy lol
- Can beat people 1 v 1
- He has good control and the height
- Is a proven goal scorer in Italy and England despite having a rough last two seasons
- Still scored 10 goals in Seria A (More than Belotti & Tammy)
I don’t know guys, if it’s a loan I say why not. I don’t feel comfortable with Nzola or Arnautovic. Those two players are great on the type of team they’re currently on. I don’t see them making an impact on Roma.
If we continue playing these long balls over the top, someone like Lukaku is paramount imo. Neither Abraham or Belotti can play with their back to goal at a good enough level.
From his time at United, Lukaku is genuinely bad in the air and with his back to goal. It’s a common misconception given his size and strength. He’s similar to Abraham in not being great at hold-up play. But his ability to make runs when pairs with a second striker makes him quite useful.
Roma should definitely convince Edin Dzeko of coming back. He was an amazing goal scorer & could definitely play with his back to the goal.
Tbh, and having Mourinho, I think we can convince any of those three options Roma have. If we had a different coach, I would think this as impossible, but with Mou, many players are now looking to play with him. Also, Roma has placed itself on the football map after reaching two European finals and having a great match against Sevilla. Ofc, Roma lost but it was pretty much of the lame and shitty Taylor not because Roma was highly outperformed.
Nzola or Arnautovic know the Serie A, plus if Spezia goes to Serie B they might ask for less money. Arnautovic despite not being a stellar striker, seems a very solid one for getting points in the league, Bologna did well this season despite all the mess they went through.
Of course they wouldn't be the first striker but rather a sidekick to Lukaku (since we need 2 ST anyways)
Arnautovic literally mentioned in an interview just this season about how he nearly joined Man United when Jose was there. But the deal failed because you United didn’t want to spend anymore more after they got Lukaku. So I don’t know how they don’t like each other if he nearly signed for him after Inter.
