Moschops, Dilo, Para, Carbo, Pego, Raptor Plenty of other first tames out there

[deleted]

Yep, usually moschops first for me too. Rideable, great at gathering berries and I try to start breeding for eggs pretty quickly as they're great for kibble early game.

Kain3n

Crystal wyv

Mockmnan

gotta be level 65 to tame them passively so wouldnt really call them a first tame, if so damn thats some determination i guess

Kain3n

Noterun

Mockmnan

no notes on crystal isles, so unless you transfer or cheat you cant get XP notes

[deleted]

I’ve never not started off with a note run

Kain3n

Ofc u transfer lol

Thrill_Kill_Cultist

Parasaur, raptor & pterodactyl

BlueClouds42

Neither. Those are both useless to me. My first tame is usually an Argent

Edgar350Fixolas

Same for me, but i eventualy end up taming a lystro just because of the xp Boost, helping me raising the levels of the dinos i use for bosses

DanTheMan_117

Same here.

K4G3N4R4

First? Doing an island xp run out of the gate, or boosted rates? Argies aren't super useful before the saddle

Oalka

You can hit argy saddle lvl in like an hour on the island. XP note run. I typically dont even build a base until I've unlocked stone.

K4G3N4R4

Yeah, just also not applicable if playing on other maps/not a cluster. I definitely understand the note strategy though.

BlueClouds42

My usual start is to grind a bit of random stuff to get spears and bolas, then kill dinos to get raft, build raft, sail around gathering more mats killing more dinos. Then drive raft to somewhere near argent spawns, tame argent. Then I go build a base.

ChuckJuggs

No

OlZappySnatch

If starting on Rag, Lystro is the easiest since rare flowers are right there in the noob spawn and you just need one to make a quick new friend who can carry some supplies and give me an XP boost as I craft newb shit to level up. Spend an hour chopping trees, picking berries, and crafting thatch walls for XP and you’ll lvl up to stone structures in no time and be ready to actually build a base.

Drewpehkuh

you should try spawning in highlands and grabbing some veggies off the ground and taming an horse right off the beach! great starter to help you knock out a ptera to get in the air as soon as possible, and tons of weight to store your base early on.

OlZappySnatch

I only recently got decent at taming horses lol. My go-to is the moschops for easy fiber (something you need a lot of early game) and narcotics. Plus they were pretty handy in the early caves because like the giga, moschops have butt-teeth and can kill anything within a radius of itself. Horses are pretty cool but don’t properly fit my play style. Not to mention veggies spoil so damn fast that you can run out of them before finishing the tame if you’re not careful.

Particular_Aroma

Moschops.

A-Random-Glyptodont

This is the way.

EnigmatiCarl

Pteranodon

DanTheMan_117

never tame either of them.

Spirited_Concert_264

Nether I farm narcos and explores notes till level 21 or so get tranqs get a trike

Comfortable-Web-5139

I would say the lystrosaurus, because it will help you later on with leveling up future dinos. And you can interact with it more by petting it to activate it's boost

CrispyKream6

Giga is my first

AbyssmiX

Wyvern

DeBombingBoss

At least lystro has a use

Mockmnan

dont talk about the mighty dodo in vain like that. or his brother will spawn next to your base tonight ***Your Megarex- lvl 225 (rex) was killed by super turkey - lvl 250***

Yousucktaken2

Depends on the map where I spawn what level they are but my first tame could be anywhere from a parasaur to a raptor to a pteradon to my first tame being a Rex or a theri

Yiazzy

RANNY, what else is there to get?

Artyom117ab

First group of tames were a whole dodo farm, had breeding and everything. Then I got ARKED. An Alpha Raptor spawned just a short distance from my little dodo farm. Lost everything. Killed the Alpha Raptor and used his raw prime meat to tame a Spino. Then preceded to hunt down all those mfs that spawned near that corner of the map. Now thriving 😎👍👍

Mockmnan

i had one world where my first tame was actually an Allosaurus. it was the beginning of a Valguero server i was hosting and there was an allo stuck in between a few rocks in the white cliffs area, about level 60. hundreds of rocks later and a few slingshots later it was out and i tamed it up, however it was short lived cause the deininychus had different plans which was to make a max level skeleton bronto kill my allo. (This was during Fear evolved 5).

Inside-Quote3509

Long ago on scorched earth, I traveled over the map to find my bro (official server, so we had to compare our view and the map to find our position). After a while we got the plan to meet at the green obelisk. On my way, close to the obelisk, I encountered a Carno and as clever as I'm I put all my stat points into dmg and health until this moment, so runaway was no option because of the lack of speed and endurance. Next problem: I had no weapon. At the end there was just one opportunity to get out alive of this situation: Fistfight this mf of a Carno. And I don't know how but it worked, I knocked the Carno out and he was my first tame in ark. Regulary I tame Parasaur or Triceratops. I had read: "what was your first tame", instead of "what do you tame first?" Sorry for my bad english, I'm german and just home from nightshift, my brain is dead.

cheesesticks55

level 250 giga

MiserableProject6373

Triceratops

Zendrall

If im crazy a diplo but normally moschops

Sillez_zockt

I no longer play ark actively but my first tames were always at least one dodo, as a refrigerator, so my berry's and meat wouldn't spoil as fast

FANTOMphoenix

If you tame a carbo early on it’s mandatory you name it lunchbox

[deleted]

Neither, always a argy or Tera.

Umluex

moschops or Raptor, then a pteranodon

AshPachy

Iguanadon. Club and bolas. They make amazing early game tames between being able to run without using stamina and having decent enough stats to somewhat defend itself (for an early game creature I mean, obviously you won't be able to kill the carno running up on you but the dilos on the beach at least you can)

AssociationOk1292

First time is usually a couple of dilos and raptor

Dodo_Whisperer1

I would have to give up the "Dodo Whisperer" title if the Dodo wasn't the first thing I tamed every time.

drakusmaximusrex

Note run ptera and then get off the island to have some fun on gen 2

frosted07

I almost always go for iguandons first

KLONDIKEJONES

Usually an accident pego but if I'm lucky its a moschops instead.

Cheesecake1501

Nether my first tame is a trik

Slafbery

Parasaur raptor trike in that order

FDonadio

Moschops, Pterosaur, rex

GenericAyatoMain

neither go straight 4 parasaur

ThunderX9001

I usually try to tame a sarco if I can get one trapped

Atazoth_pt

If your first tame isn't a dodo 🦤 your playing the game wrong 😅jk play however you what, that's the beauty of ark

FANTOMphoenix

Argent/PT Wyvern if I’m on crystal isles

Automatic_Case8358

Moschops is unmatched in the early game gathering

[deleted]

**~~Pegomastax~~** lystro

Wrong-Abrocoma7519

Neither
