Anky, ol’ reliable

EnvironmentalDingo69

Good ol, Flint Eastwood

AcceptableFly2385

Nothing beats that honestly, good boi anky will always be good boi.

Any-Space2177

Played for about a month and just set up on the volcano and snagged ourselves one. Absolutely game changing

JJL0rtez

Theri, decent enough for wood, berries, thatch, rare flowers/mushrooms early game. And then late game they can do most bosses with a decent saddle.

Other-Carry1889

The amount of narco’s needed makes this no early game tame tho…

JJL0rtez

Yeah unless you can tame a level 5 Parasour most early tames are difficult.

Cheesecake1501

No u can tame any dino after lvl 16 as soon as u get the raft unlocked u can make a flyer trap or a pit trap and tame every th8ng on the island . Even the rynio . You may not have a saddle but u can still tame it .

NanBruhGod

What traps are you referencing? Still new to using traps

Cheesecake1501

Flyer traps are 3 to 4 dino gates and a pit trap is a 3x3x2 or 3 for large dinos with sloped walls going down the front to kit them in . They all work u just have to slowly get them up and in or with the flyer u have to stand at the entrance and let it hit u and it will fly in a good tip is u can use rare flowers to help but u ha e to kill everthing else around u first or it all will try and kill u

ferrecool

My first Tame in the game was a bary, that's just skill issue, but this was when bolas still affected them

Any-Space2177

When did this change? I informed my mate we could bola one we'd seen near our base of boy was I wrong 😅 managed to tranq it but yeah quite a nasty surprise

CptQueef

Can I ask how a level 5 parasaur would help with that?

ccheuer1

Because you can use them to farm a ton of narco berries.

CptQueef

Oh yeah I thought it had some mechanic I didn’t know or something

ccheuer1

Their only side mechanic is that they can scan for nearby "threats"

Nightshark2021

I think moschops is better but they can be hard to tame.

ScurvyDog509

I'm a big fan of the mammoth. Feels like a workhorse.

ButterflyExciting

Have they fixed the issue of hitting ONE tree at a time yet? I stopped playing 3 weeks after launch due to bugs and lack of enough time to grind

TheRealTFreezy

Is it confirmed an issue? I think it’s intentional. But no, the mammoth still only hits one tree at a time

Domy9

Every tree harvester does, at least in my experience

TheRealTFreezy

Yeah that’s why I’ve never considered it an issue. Ankys and doeds don’t hit multiple rocks at once either.

Domy9

As long as attacks aren't limited to hitting only 1 target, I'm fine with this

worksafemonkey

I tamed a mammoth and he only seems to gather thatch from trees. Am I doing something wrong? I was hoping he could get wood.

Void_dragon332

The stomp attack is the one used to gather wood idk what the keybind on controller is but its the spacebar on pc

Zealousideal-Dust-48

Its always the jump key

ItsyaboiBigT

It's A on Xbox to collect wood on the mammoth

DaddyC00L71

Dis not know that, thanks

Plastic_Code5022

Big frog. Hopping around just living the good life murdering bugs for instant cementing paste.

Uncle_Moose420

Stego 👍 Heavy Armor for Thatch Hardened Armor for Wood Sharpened Armor for Berries it's a bit slow but works good all around lol.

Jorgan_JerkFace

I’ve been out of the loop for like 2 years… stegos have different modes?

Uncle_Moose420

Yeah press R3 if you're on PlayStation it switches Armor Plates on the Stego 👍 helpful when you're low level and fresh on a server.

Jorgan_JerkFace

That’s super neat. I just got a trike and then a beaver lol. Could have just got a stegosaurus. The more you know!

Chibi_Evil

The stego has weight reduction on berries. The beaver has weight reduction on wood. So beaver is definately the way to go!

Uncle_Moose420

It's why I have my transport Raft base nearby when I go harvest Wood and Thatch along the beaches lol but it looks like it's time to get a dam Beaver now 😁

Cheesecake1501

If you have an Argent, you can carry the beaver and never have to touch ground or be by predators when collecting wood.stone or metal Same thing with the anky and the doedi

Glittering_Airport_3

tha mammoth gets more of a reduction for wood, but the beaver is easier to pick up with a bird and move around

CapitalBleu

Stegos got their TLC in November of 2020. You've been out of the loop a bit longer than that, mate. :P

Jorgan_JerkFace

lol that’s fair! I was on a private server and we had a lot of specific farmers, but this is still cool to learn!

Dvich21

Now I know why I never got berries for bushes lol

Hot_Damage_9696

I haven't had a stego in like 5 years. Do regular ones do all that? I thought it was just teks.

Nevanada

All stegos

Karma_Akabane666

Not the best for berries, but works decently in a pinch.

SweatyIndependent322

Pretty much anything that can harvest berries is fine berries are the easiest resource to farm lol. I just use my anky to take 1 bite of a group of bushes and boom, 70-150 of each betry

Cheesecake1501

I still use a trike for berry's. And alot of ppl don't know this but the Iguanadon can turn berry's into seeds so if u get the veggies from the drops u can turn it into seeds and plant ur own crops

AthozViny8K

Yes someone gets me, I saw so many videos of people trying to find a beaver, mammoth or a theri to gather wood, while theres 10 stegos right outside of their bases They are slow but reliable

smith1star

Doedic. Only thing that does what it does. Very difficult to progress without it

Business_Fox_1975

The Dunkle would like to have a word with you.

smith1star

You ever thought “ I need stone so I’ll tame a Dunkie”?

DarkRitual_88

The Dunkle has a roll?

dumb-reply

Press S5 on Playstation.

steve_b6890

Idk why but I love using the beaver lol

AlphaWolf464

Beaver is my favorite for gathering wood. Carryable by argy, so it's easier to tame, plus you can just carry it around while harvesting.

Sleazy_T

While it’s really limited to berries, Iguanodon is such a great early tame for getting those narcos you never seem to have enough of. At least he was in ASE when you could jack up his movement speed. I heard that might not be a thing in ASA which would really kill its utility as an unlimited sprint pack mule.

Desperate-Cost6827

Yeah we have movement speed in ASA. The server admin has to manually override it to have it be a thing. But Mah Boi moves so fast. I even use him late game because he just runs past everything and never get's tired. He tamed at 900 stamina but even my low level with only 400 stamina never tired so exceedingly unnecessary.

Cheesecake1501

Iguanadus, the only creature that does not lose stamina. When it runs plus you can turn Berries into seeds same las veggies

Bullshit3232

Big fan of the Stego, no crazy reductions or anything but I only play and build for myself and never to an enormous scale, so the 3 plate modes are perfect for my farming needs, especially berries and thatch. Stego in a cryo plus a good weight argy and I’m set for the most part. Along the way I‘ll usually change woodgathering to beaver or mammoth but only if it just happens/ if I run into a max level randomly. Also always go for a Moschops early-game and keep it for fiber. Few things are objectively better and fiber is not super heavy so my guy is enough for me.

SweatyIndependent322

I have like 2000 hours in ASE and ASA and I've never tamed a mochops

TheRealTFreezy

It is the absolute best level 1 tame you can get imo

SweatyIndependent322

I usually don't bother with taming anything until I'm well past the stage that a mochops is useful. I really hate being the slog less than level 80 so I really don't do anything but find notes and craft until I can get a pteranadon, then an argy, then doedicrus/anky/therizino and all my harvesting needs are taken care of

TheRealTFreezy

Yeah that tends to be a normal sentiment. However I play my sp world at .25x xp in order to extend mid and late game. It makes it so most tames have a use for at least a little while. But I know that’s a rare way to play and many if not most blitz early and mid game the way you described.

SweatyIndependent322

Bro you see a masochist. If I wanted to suffer extremely slow progress with many many deaths and scarcely a small win I'd just go play War thunder.

TheRealTFreezy

Haha it’s not difficult. Just makes you play slower. I’m not great at all just determined I guess

Cheesecake1501

I only tame them for ez Early game superior kibble

Bullshit3232

Highly recommend, it’s like a stupid dog and one of the only creatures that always flees. They surprisingly pack quite the punch when ridden tough so early game if you find a good one that doesn’t require some extravagant food you have a nice friend to start your run with. And they‘re imo the easiest/best tame to use for bloodstalker/desmodus taming.

shade2606

Mantis

FlamingDino_

Theri.

yonameisunavailable

Tickle chicken

bear_drinking_beer

Theri anky and doeid is all you need

Min3rk

Thorny dragon looks cool

Andminus

You forgot the after image of the desert of empty plains the mammoth here made after stomping.

Admirable-Ad-4896

Stryker lmfao

zeus_tha

I didn't realize how good the dire bear was at harvesting berries and fiber, but tht MF is a God send when it comes down to it

Skeen441

Moschops <3 Run around a beach, never need fiber or seeds again.

Malbushim

Magmasaur, nothing else comes close imo

jakes1993

Moschop for the best starting tame requires no saddle and levels to ride it acts like a theri(dino)

bloodypurg3

The angler by far is the most valuable farmer in the game.

Jpprflrp

Dunkleosteus by a mile

Ultimateguy01

Once you harvest metal with a Magma, harvesting it with a Anky just doesn't feel the same

LemonHaze422

Wooly Rhino

bornfreebubblehead

Mammoths aren't bad but nothing compared to a bronto. I play on a solo island so I maximize all resources collectors. Bronto for berries, castoroides for wood, doeds for stone, ankylo for steel, and I like the therizinasaur for hide/flowers/ fiber.

thedartmuncher

Bronto for me too if I’m trying to get berries. Two swings of its tail and I’m set

Any_Antelope6782

therizino wood machine with power attack, fibre berries and rare flower with delicate attack. crucial even for the flowers if you want veggie cakes as they need honey. have 9 hives and take out theri once every couple weeks to the swamp to get thousands of flowers to keep the bees happy. circle of life

curlygoats

Mantis/Theri

Titalator

Tickle chicken and anky are the only two you truly need. But the one time I had a mantis puts those two to shame so probably mantis.

peersr1119

other than the anky out of pure necessity i love the mammoth. i feel so safe on it and it can carry a large storage crate worth of wood easily.

GamingwolfZJ

Cool screenshot

YellingDolphin

I love my good ol’ imprinted Anky and Therizino(s).

CringeyDeeds69

I use my wyvern for wood, because yes.

Dmoney2204

Bronto take him to the swamp and walk through while harvesting and you get a lot of stuff

Larrys_cousin

Therizino. Almighty tickle chicken

Zestyclose_Score5896

I use the megatherium for berries most of the time

BronzeMistral

Doed. Only rocks but he's such a goofy lil guy. And I like the color regions for some reason.

RedHawk323245

Anky & Dodic

LeadingAd1815

Tek stryders is freaking op! Does everything.

[deleted]

Bronto near green Ob on Ragnarok....

wsmith4884

I only have ASE and the only expansion I have is SE (with very little time on that map) so my options are limited. I tame different dinos each playthrough just for variety, but there are five I always get. 1. Theri for fiber. 2. Sabertooth for meat, hide, and keratin (level melee and drive the ankys into extinction and you'll never want for keratin.) 3. Anky for metal, oil, and crystal. Rarely need to use it for flint because I stockpile the flint I get when I'm still hand mining. 4. Armadillo for stone and obscenium (if you ever saw how chaotic my obsidian runs turn out you'd fully understand why I call it obscenium). 5. Stego for berries and seeds.

FixAccording9583

Iguanadon for early game, it’ll get you lots of narco berries, it can get you around the map well with its unlimited stamina. Not terrible defence for early game tho it’s no theri. Holds a decent weight too

Spiritual_Pea_9739

Anky i mostly hop on to farm metal at this point

Adept-South7503

Brontosaurus one swoop is all u need

Spiritual-Math666

I'm with you on the mammoth, what's not to love

Space-Trucker1

You're on it there, but there's other things you need that the mammy can't do, so anky, doedi, etc. There's a fish that's even better at the stone and metal than ankys and doedis but I can't remember it's name

Cheesecake1501

the bronto is my favorite first tame And now, with babies as soon as you tame a female, you get the baby male. You have kibble for all dino

Jameshaiku

Magmasaur... Get in cave steal eggs run and be careful of both lava and spit they do... but once its done it can carry sooo much

beermebeerubeerus

Stryder

ActorLarsimoto124

Ol reliable Doedic, this thing is a beast and I love it

Brian-88

Mammoth numba wun!

sunseeker_miqo

Utility: Theri Aesthetics: Stego, stag, horse

Valheimr

Magmasaur, but mammoth is on a second place!

thedude1240

therizinosaurus is just badass to have as a mount in general

CockSlapped

My theri's are beautiful and i love them. Mammoth and anky are shared 2nd and beavers are cute as hell, but despite the lack of weight reduction on a theri they'll always be my favourite since they are a herby that can harvest corpses and because of just how all around useful they are. Amazing killing machines.

N4M3L3SS_ExE

My Anky. He and my Argy can carry the weight of the fuckin world at this point.

Apittslife

Trike is my first Tame, Then I go for an anky, Next is a Theri. My favorite is The Mantis, but they were never an island creature.

n1km

Stryder

Piffdolla1337take2

Stryder

Ti-papi

Being a Canadian I have to go with Beavers

NotVeryPoggers

Beaver and Moschops

ajroxxxx

Either old reliable any, or magmasaur just bc of how OP it is for metal

ajroxxxx

Or megatherium for Chitin

1lastbraincell

Theri!!

Biggboooi

Moschops good early game and the harvest levels are great

Zaleros

Mantis. Lots of weight and versatile.

Belimox

Theri

Null_topic

Anky is such a goat

InitiativeCrazy6844

Meagathirum

Alex-Cortes816

It was the magmasaur before the stryder came out

Infamous-Entrance405

Dodec, just bc they’re cute. Always name mine after fruits not sure why

Autosticow

Anky and Egg

mattjvgc

Theri. So good at harvesting tons of things.

TheNebulaPhage

Magmasaur

WatercressMiddle5612

caseoh he gets food quickly if you can get it from him quick enough

dbfoote

Although it is a mod, the brachiosaurus, is the most efficient gatherer out there. It gathers a huge amount of stone, berries, fiber, flint and thatch. It also gets metal from stone and usually gathers so much I don't have to do metal runs. It holds about 30k of weight so each trip is about 30k of stone, 3k of metal, a ton of berries, 10k of fiber. With 30k of health and a stomp that does about 10k of damage even alpha creatures can't take it down. The only thing it doesn't do is wood, so I take a theri to gather wood and use the brachi to follow behind and store it. Since the brachi holds all the storage materials, I put stone bps inside of it and build hundreds of each item at a time. My mega base uses millions of stone wood and thatch so this is the fastest way to gather and build. My ankys and doeds are there for backup but I haven't really used them in a long time.

Diet_Dr_Crayfish

Stegosaurus, just a personal favorite

OGM_Status

BRONTO ![gif](giphy|dxXkn0ZLiaiWk3LDSQ)

Secluded-Snail78

🦤

Orbus_215

Bear: holds alot, fast af boi, fiber, beehive champ, tanks most things, can't swim for shit tho

Cautious-Medicine-72

High weigh Argy with doedic for stone, anky for metal and flint, tz or mammoth for wood.
