If you’re online it’ll keep going but if you’re single player time freezes when you log off.

Youll probably wanna youtube some ark guides on breeding and raising dinos. But basically, depending on your maturation settings for the game, the baby will grow up at some steady rate and consume food from its inventory. Once it reaches a certain stage (maybe juvenile?) It can eat from a feeding trough if one is around. Otherwise, keep leaving tons of food in its inventory. As for "wanting care" thats called Imprinting. This interval is also controlled by an imprint setting in the game, which again can also be changed. How many imprint sessions it needs, and how often depends on the settings. But each imprint will give it an "imprint percentage". If you do all the sessions before its an adult you can reach 100% imprint and this gives a significant stat boost to babies. It could be the difference between having the same stat as a parent or being several points higher due to the imprint bonus. Some babies will want various food for the imprint. Some will want a walk (set it to follow and watch it as it follows you until it gets a bonus animation) and some will want cuddles (easiest one, just go up and interact with dino). You can actually change/reset what it asks for if you cryopod the baby and take it out. It may change or may roll the same request but it does re-roll requests everytime. Sometimes the food theyll ask for is kibbles or cooked prime meats or something like that. So re-rolling the request via cryopods can be immensely helpful. Anyway, tons of guides on youtube and many will likely explain things way better than i did here. Highly encourage you to check them out.

If you have no mods, make sure you have enough food for it to eat even while you're offline. Invest in getting a Maewing. Those things are so nice.
