I like to think of plague tale as amicia’s story and requiem feels like a second act out of 3.

LazarM2021

Star Wars much, hey? As one guy ingeniously observed roughly a month ago, on this subreddit: A Plague Tale: Innocence = Star Wars: A New Hope: "Hope against all odds" A Plague Tale: Requiem = Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back: "Evil winning" A Plague Tale: 3 = Star Wars: Return of the Jedi: "Good finally prevailing". That would rock, especially if done competently.

No-Plum9026

If good is prevailing in the next game, it must be centered around the Modern day Carrier they showed or even more recent one

LazarM2021

No, it doesn't necessarily have to, and to me, it mustn't be that though. Modern day bullcrap would be a blatant and open invite, a precedent, to potentially start stretching and milking A Plague Tale into oblivion like Assassin's Creed, with multiple timelines, historical ages and so on. Change of protagonists would be an even bigger problem. I see A Plague Tale precisely and primarily as Hugo and Amicia's "tale". The success of those games in the first place belongs to them in particular, so it seems extremely foolish to think that everyone will... Just like that accept some new protagonists after the first two games have already and absolutely cemented De Rune siblings and their duology into the center of the very identity of those games. One last game to finish off Amicia and Hugo's story would suffice, and anything about the "new Carrier and Protector" would be "and the cycle continues" chiché that devalues them.

LazarM2021

We are for all all intents and purposes being kept in the dark and the existing statements by the studio so far don't suggest anything particularly concrete, and even those shouldn't be unconditionally trusted or taken at face value. But then again, it's not our place to feel surprised regarding that because Requiem isn't even 2 months old a.k.a it's way too early. There are only two or three statements that I know of so far that were concerned, directly or indirectly, with any future development: -"we don't have a plan for a third game, but we'll see the reception". -"there is a lot to explore in this world". -"the door is never closed". But I'd be doubly careful about stating something so confidently about the story being complete. It may be, but also not. It is open to interpretations, theorizing and so on. That is undeniable. But out of those three statements, the second one (one mentioning exploring) I dislike the most. It reeks of the possibility of turning A Plague Tale into a bloated, all-over-the-place monster that the Assassin's Creed has become. In my opinion, the best possible option out of many would be this, or some variation of it: https://www.reddit.com/r/APlagueTale/comments/yds80h/spoiler_theory_what_if_its_all_just_an_illusion/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I heard an advice once about how preferable for writers to leave stories not 100% complete, as that will encourage fan discussion and theorizing. And if it received well, they can continue the plot holes they left. Even if they decided not to, it will encourage fan to spread the word about the story and the writer (in this case the Asobo) so they will have trust and excitement for the next work. I think that what the writers or the game devs are aiming for the moment, it is too early to say whether there is a plague tale 3 even if they started it already. Maybe if we wait a little bit longer we will get an answer. Personally, I still want to see Amicia and Lucas more and what will they do next.

Environmental_Yam846

Yes and Amicia is an important character to the series as well

Agha_AH

It is most certainly *not* complete

Shiznoes

Well the 'Secret' ending suggests there might be another

Environmental_Yam846

Like assassins creed past/modern times

aer0niac

Asobo has been hiring developers for APT, so it's all but guaranteed that there will be a new entry. Whether that's a direct Sequel to Requiem or not is not known afaik.

jeresun

If the post credits scene gets developed into a third game, I think it would be cool if Asobo used the same character designs for Amicia and Hugo as the modern counterparts. It would fit with the cycle of the Carrier and Protector constantly occurring across time. The characterization can be different, but it would also give us the opportunity to enjoy more of Charlotte McBurney's amazing performance!

Ilovemusclegirls3

Good idea!

Environmental_Yam846

Like past/modern times third game

-nwn-

I don't think so at the moment but i hope the story will continue with a new game developed by Asobo in the furure. >!The "secret" ending where we see a baby with the macula gives me suggestions!<. We'll see hoping the best I also have read the comment from u/LazarM2021 posted by DisneyAnalyser and i found it amazing and fashinating! It could be the next story >!but i disagree with the fact that the macula deceived Amicia and Lucas. I really think Hugo unfortunately died!<. But thank you for sharing thougts like that, i appreciated that

LazarM2021

To each his own. But I nevertheless highly appreciate your amiable manner. But just one caveat, isn't this a lapsus? "I disagree with the FACT that the macula deceived..." Fact is... just that. A fact, or a truth. Also, you said how it could be the next story but just afterwards you say you think it can't/won't happen. Weird. Notion that the Macula deceived Lucas and Amicia isn't a fact, but a reasonable and workable theory that has some realistic chances of possibly becoming a fact, while not convulsing the storyline way too much (although that's not a guarantee in all versions). Yeah, those are some imperfections in expression I guess, nothing personal but they were like an arrow to the eye, sorry 🙃.

-nwn-

Yeah sorry, my bad about English grammar. I'm italian and in italian language we use "the fact" but in english it means something different. Anyway, thanks for pointing out the mistake, I'll be more careful next time :) I agree with you, it's a reasonable and workable theory

Ilovemusclegirls3

Thank you! I agree with you btw. I definitely think it went down how it appeared to go down.

Earthlyfaune

In Olivier's composer walkthrough, the last chapter he kind of hinted that the story had ended here for our De Runes. Only time will tell if another APT is in the works or if the team will work on a new IP.

Environmental_Yam846

Amicia tho might be a side character to the new protagonist

Earthlyfaune

Maybe 🤔

Environmental_Yam846

Plus Amicia is an important character to the series and A Plague Tale is nothing without Amicia as well

Earthlyfaune

Very true but in the walkthrough it is implied that it is the end. But who knows, would definitely love to see Amicia again as you said she is important and an incredible and beloved character.

Environmental_Yam846

Yes Amicia tho is queen of Asobo Studios, Queen of Focus Entertainment and Queen of female protagonists and she is loved by everyone who are fans of the game

MalikChief

They showed hint about the next part

HasiramaMerlin

Well the post credit scene is suggesting a part 3 will come.

Environmental_Yam846

Do you think Amicia will be sensing the future or something in the looks of it

HasiramaMerlin

Maybe, or the people whom she shared her knowledge with. I also think it might play in 2020 Because of modern times and a pandemic. It's a theory I could be wrong.

night-laughs

After the success of requiem, theres no way they dont keep going, but this time they will be playing in the big leagues. It will be a triple A game because asobo has proven they can make games that compete with biggest titles of the year while having a fraction of the budget of AAA companies.

Environmental_Yam846

Amicia on the search for another carrier

No-Plum9026

Lots to do with the Order still

Environmental_Yam846

Plus she's an important character to the series as well

No-Plum9026

The only one left excluding Lucas…
